Albus Dumbledore on "The Old Witch and her Sister"
The Old Witch and her Sister is perhaps one of the least told tales. It is also one of my favorites. This tale was not actually written by Beedle, but instead told to him by a traveling Gypsy caravan.
An old friend of mine (whose name shall not be revealed, for his own privacy) once came to me with a similar tale after his travels, he explained to me that the village where he heard it was supposedly the same village where this tale takes place, and how the song mentioned is still sung there. He also, to my great interest, described the town, telling me about the one empty lot where there is a large marble stone, placed there by the people in memory of the witch. And also the place where the beast was killed and how "no plant grows there and no animal dares enter there." So, perhaps the witch really did exist, and perhaps her sister really did kill a beast. It is most likely that the Gypsy's Beedle heard the tale from, heard it from the people of that town and must have liked it, for they continued telling it.
