Once we got back to camp I immediately laid Clove down to rest. I examined her wound one more time before I bandaged it up. I take a deep breath as I lie down next to her and wrap my arms around her. I feel her nuzzle into the crook of my neck as I hold her.
"Cato." I hear her whisper softly into my neck. Her warm breath on my skin sends shivers down my spine.
"What is it Clove?" I ask softly as I kiss the top of her head.
"How many are left?" She asks. I take a moment to think before I speak.
"I believe there are four of us." I say. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes.
"There should only be three." She says as her shoulders begin to shake. I am left speechless as she breaks down in sobs. I stroke her hair and hold her close while the tides of tears flow out.
"Clove...Please don't say that. You know I am so glad that you are alive. We have a chance Clove. Two people can win… That will be us. I told you that I will protect you and I will keep my word. Dammit Clove, I think I… I think I… I-I love you." I say. Suddenly she looks up at me with her brown eyes, her beautiful brown eyes.
"Cato… I think I love you too." She says as I lean down and our lips meet. We continue to kiss until I feel her jump back.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"Nothing, my head just really hurts right now." She says.
"I think you should go to sleep Clove. I will stand watch and tomorrow we finish the others off." I say.
"Okay, I love you." She says as she cuddles closer to me. I tighten my hold around her and I feel her heartbeat agents my chest as her breathing slowly steadies.
"I love you too." I finally whisper as her soft snore fills the void of my heart.
