Kagome awoke to find that at some point during the night his hand had wrapped around hers. Which she found quite strange since they had gone to bed angry with one another, because Sesshoumaru was upset that she was still talking to and spending time with Inu-Yasha.
As soon as the memories of the previous night flooded her brain- his slowly raising voice, his sharp comments- she was shoving them back out. It was a Beautiful new day and she was determined to enjoy it. The sun was breaking through the windows at the perfect angle; making the room feel light and happy. She loved this room in the morning. She always awoke in a good mood in this room.
She studied Sesshoumaru's sleeping face for a moment before looking down at their hands. The fact that his hand had searched out hers in the night told her that somewhere in the back of his mind he regretted his harsh word that he had thrown at her the previous night. It gave her reassurance that today would be richer than yesterday. She wouldn't allow anything less either way.
She looked up to see that Sesshoumaru was awake. His eyes studied her carefully, searching for any signs of upset or anger. After last night he was sure he would be treading on dangerous ground. However, he only found stars in her eyes, and a light smile on her face. Kami she was beautiful.
"Let's not think about last night." She murmured, as though afraid to break the fragile morning peace. "It's a new day."
"That it is." He replied, lifting their intertwined hands, and placing a kiss upon the back of hers.
