You hear an explosion, and an unearthly shriek of pain, but it's an all too familiar one, you heard it not long ago, in a pristine, sparkling hospital ward.
You breathe her name and run to find her.
Skidding round a corner, you see her take her last few breaths, her body fighting to stay alive, you reach her, the boulder slides off with ease.
Cradling her broken, gasping body, you yell her name, over and over, hoping that your voice will bring her back.
You're too late.
With one last shuddering breath, her body goes limp and still, cradled in your shaking arms. You scream her name, you know it's useless but you still do it, the grief and pain won't let you give up, keeping you hoping, keeping you hurting.
Cloaked figures come into view, watching you, enjoying your pain they raise their wands.
Your body welcomes the words of ending, the flash of green is your salvation, and your body covers the one of your life line.
As you float in the darkness, you only have one regret.
You'll never know the source of that first scream. The one in the hospital ward.
