Chapter 2
I'm Back, So Which House Am I In?
LENA'S POV.
I sat on the train headed for my new school. I would be attending Hogwarts School of Witch and Wizardry. I would also be with the other third years there. Looking out the window, I couldn't help but think one thing and smile.
'I'll get to see Draco again, after so long…'
It had been four years since I had seen him. He was thirteen now and I was twelve, but I would turn thirteen soon enough, but I digress.
The reason I would be with the other third years was because of my skill level, I was a very talented witch if I do say so myself, and I do. Plus, I had been in the third year at my former school, having started when I was ten, instead of eleven like I would have if I had always gone to Hogwarts.
All I knew so far was that I would meet the headmaster and teachers once I got there, then I would be taken to the great hall and sorted into a house. I know it sounds mean, but I really hope I don't get sorted into Slytherin.
I knew the reputation, and I knew Draco was in that house but still. Draco was still my friend, but I knew that if you were sorted into Slytherin, it was like saying that you were a bad kid. But since I knew Draco, I knew it was a part of his act. The one he was expected to uphold at all times, especially around certain others. But just wait till I get there. I'll set him straight I always have.
A while later I decided to change into my robes. I wore a white button up long sleeved shirt, without a sweater over it, seeing as how I didn't have a house yet, a black pleated skirt, and black shoes with black high socks. I also had a black robe with a hood.
Not too much longer later, I arrived and was greeted by a large man with scruffy long hair and a scruffy long beard. I smiled and spoke.
"Hello. I'm Annalena, the new student, but I prefer to be called Lena."
"Nice to meet you Lena, my name's Rubeus Hagrid, keeper of keys and grounds here at Hogwarts, and the Care of Magical Creatures professor." he said, shaking my hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Hagrid." I said nicely.
"Well, come on then. Let's get you to the school, wouldn't want or you to be late introducing yourself." he stated.
We walked towards the carriage, and he saw me off.
"It was nice meeting you professor!" I called and waved goodbye.
Halfway to the castle I began to talk to myself, it would calm me down at times.
"Okay Lena, just stay calm. Remember to do well in your classes and be nice to people and everything will be just fine. Make sure to get along with others, and stay on the good sides of the professors." I said to myself.
I soon reached the castle, and was greeted by a man with a cat. They led me to the headmaster's office and there stood all the teachers, who turned and looked at me. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous. Then, an elderly man with a long white beard, wearing blue robes spoke.
"Ah, Miss Morgana. I'm happy to see that you made it here fine. I trust you met Hagrid?" he asked.
"Yes, he made sure I got to the carriage fine." I replied.
"Good, good. Now, these are the teachers, Professors McGonagall the transfiguration teacher, Snape potions master, Pomphrey our nurse, Trelawney the divination teacher, and new this year, professor Lupin, who will be your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. And then there's me, Albus Dumbledore, your headmaster. Now, if you will wait here, we will have you wait to be sorted at dinner and your things will be brought to your house, do you understand?"
"Yes, professor." I stated, politely.
"Polite, just like your mother. She went here as well, so did your father. I'm sure that you will make them proud." he said confidently.
I smiled to myself, then spoke.
"Thank you sir."
The others teachers left to get ac to the students, professor Snape being the last one out.
"It's good to see you again uncle Serverus." I stated.
He turned and looked at me, giving me a sliver of a smile.
"It is good, to see you as well Lena. Tell your parents, I said hello." he said.
"I will." I replied, he turned and left.
Of course he wasn't my real uncle, but my parents had been great friends with him during their school years, when most were cruel to him. He was made my God-Uncle when I was born. Because of this, he didn't use his usual cold façade with me, at least at times when only certain others were around. It made me feel special.
It was an hour until dinner and I was nervous. But I sucked it up. I could totally do this!
It was finally time. Time for me to meet my fellow students.
Professor McGonagall led me through a secret entry way that was right next to the teacher's table. I could see through the window on the door. There were so many students, but I wasn't about to choke up now.
"Now, before we begin the feast," I heard Professor Dumbledore state, "We have a little something special. A new student will be joining us, and I expect for you to treat her, like you would your fellow students, no matter what house they end up in. now, would all please give a warm welcome, to our new student, Annalena Abigail Morgana, or as she prefers, Lena." he said, and Professor McGonagall led me out and in front of everyone, as they began to clap. I looked around and suddenly saw Draco, looking surprised as ever. It made me smile.
DRACO'S POV.
IT WAS HER! IT WAS LENA!
"Draco, do you know her?" Goyle asked.
"Yes." I said, still dazed.
"How do you know her?" Crabbe asked.
"She's my best friend." I stated.
"Best friend!?" they exclaimed.
"Quiet!" I shushed.
"How are you best friends exactly?" Pansy asked.
"I've known her since we were babies. Our parents are great friends, so we became friends as well. She's one of the only people I trust." I stated.
"Well, if she's friends with you then she'll probably be in Slytherin, with us." Blaise said.
That thought made me very happy, but I didn't show it.
"Either way, she'll still be my best friend, no matter what house." I stated firmly.
"But what if she's in Gyrffindor!? There's no way you'll be able to be seen with her then." Pansy stated, a bit too happy for my tastes.
I knew that Pansy liked me, but that didn't mean I liked her back. I considered her a friend, but that was it if that.
"Well, the sorting hat's about too place her, so let's just see, shall we?" Blaise suggested.
LENA'S POV.
I stood there as the professor placed the hat on my head and it began to speak.
"Ah, a Morgana. Very good, now let's see. Plenty of character indeed. Confident, a quick thinker, caring, plenty of courage, very independent, trustworthy, open-minded, forgiving, talented, brave, the list goes on and on, just like with your mother. Now let's see, where to put you… loyal like a Hufflepuff, bright like a Ravenclaw, and cunning like a Slytherin, and full of courage like a Gryffindor. You could do very well in Slytherin…" it said.
"Please not Slytherin, not Slytherin!" I whispered to myself, not knowing that the sorting hat had heard me.
"Not Slytherin? But you could do great things and Sytherin can help you."
"Not Slytherin. Not there." I whispered.
"No? Well, then, I guess that you'll follow in your mother's foot-steps…Gryffindor!" it stated.
I let out a relieved sigh, and got up. I headed over to my table and sat down. I looked over at Draco and saw the look on his face. He looked at me with the same look.
"Sorry." I mouthed to him.
"Hi, I'm Harry-
"Potter. Yeah, I've heard a lot about you. It's nice to meet you." I said, shaking his hand.
"Like wise, and these are my friends, Ron, George, Ginny and Fred Weasly, Hermione Granger, and Neville Longbottom." Harry stated.
"Hi everyone. I hope to become friends with all of you really soon." I said smiling.
Yeah, I was going to like this place a lot.
DRACO'S POV.
Of course it had to be Gryffindor, of course. Oh well, I wouldn't stop being her friend, I had known her too long for that.
I looked over again and saw her talking to Potter and laughing with him and his friends. I grimaced when I saw her laugh at something Potter had said. Potter, of course she had to be in Potter's house. I don't know why it made me so angry. I had known her for much longer, so I shrugged the feeling off.
Once dinner ended, we headed to our houses and went to bed. I had a feeling that tomorrow would certainly be something…
