Chapter 2
I make it through the rest of my morning with people staring at me. I guess they never thought some stiff would be able to stand up for someone else like that. Then again I'm not just some stiff. I'm surprised by how surprised they are though. I finally make it through to lunchtime. I would normally have lunch right now but we have to take are aptitude tests first. My last name begins with an s and so does Jacob and Margret's so we will be going towards the end. When the first group leaves some look peaceful and some look terrified. I don't know why but most the amity look less terrified than most the Dauntless. One minute goes bye. Then five. Then thirty. Then an hour. The next thing I know it's been two hours and I go to be tested. You're not allowed to test people from your own function so I go with this dauntless woman. I don't know how Jacob and Margret are doing, but I'm terrified. I walk into a room and I see my reflection.
This is the first time I have seen myself in over a year. I have light brown hair with blond highlights, tan, and multi-color eyes the center is blue with a green circle around it then a brown circle around that. I'm 5'6" and I look odd in the gray clothes since I haven't gotten a new pair of gray clothes I'm a while. I can't believe how much older I look. I changed a lot between times when my brother would cut my hair. I changed so much in-between the last year. The only blemish on my face is a bruise on my jaw. My father will have a great time punishing me for that. I notice I've been staring for too long and avert my eyes.
The Dauntless in front of me is in a black suit and is pretty plain for dauntless standards. She has black hair and brown eyes. I wonder what her name is. I want to know so I just ask. "What's your name?"
She smirks ", never met a curious stiff before."
I smirk next and say ", well you haven't met me."
She raises her eyebrows in surprise. I know it's surprising for a stiff little abnegation girl to challenge someone, but why do people keep making assumptions about me? I'm not some stiff little abnegation girl. She then brakes out laughing and says ", what's with all the abnegation deciding to join abnegation four tries and now you. Great." I roll my eyes. She continues ", I'm tori, and now let's get to work."
I get handed a purple liquid. "Drink." Tori commands. I want to resist but then I realize it will just be in my head and this calm my racing heart. I proceed to get sleepy then I'm in a room with three baskets. In one is a knife, in the other is a rope, in the final basket is a thing of cheese. None seem like they have anything with each other. Based on what you pick it will probably take you to a different situation. So, if you don't choose I wonder where you'd go. The voice says "choose!" I say "why?" The voice says "choose!" I still want to know so I say "I choose not to choose!" I can almost hear the voice sigh. There's a dog that comes out of nowhere. I have been in the exact situation with Margret once when we went running. You need to show that your weak and so I curl up in a ball on the ground it then starts to lick me. I start to pet it and it smiles. I always loved animals. But then she appears.
A little girl no more than 6 years old stands in the corner of the room. She yells "puppy!" and the dog turn he start to run towards the girl at top speed. I don't think and jump onto the dog. I punch it once in the face and it goes un conscience. I run over to the little girl and she hugs me. I smile and hug her back. We are both safe now. It's over. But it's not over. I can feel that it's not over. She looks up at me with sad puppy dog eyes and says ", is it over now?" I say ", I don't know I have never been in a simulation before."
The next thing I know I'm back in the chair. Where'd the little girl go!? I scream ", what did you do with that sweet little girl?" I almost snarl to no one impariticular. I know that was a simulation. Tori looks horrified for a minute but then composes herself. "There are these people called divergent that people want dead and your one of them." I'm not surprised by this. I wonder what two I got. Most people get two and one person has gotten three. Tori continues "you got them all you used intelligence to calm the dog. You were nice to the girl and dog witch was your amity side. You jumped on the dong hence your abnegation side. Then you somehow knocked out the dog. You then proceed to tell her the truth about the simulation. You're perfect." I laugh.
"You think I'm perfect because I trusted my instincts. Other thinks affect how you are. And I am anything but perfect. So if you don't mind I will be on my way! And if you could put it in as Dauntless that would be great!" I leave and make my way back to my seat.
On the way there I walk past the dauntless table. Blondie is the first one to catch my eye as he comes over to me.
