The boy sighed, rolling over. He pulled the covers up to his chin and squinted at the clock. He made out a glowing 2:28 in the darkness, and buried his face into the pillow. He hadn't stopped thinking about his little encounter with Tina since earlier that day. It wasn't that he liked her, though. He'd never. Would he? He couldn't. A snoring Jimmy Jr, asleep in his bedroom, reminded him; no matter how much Jimmy would protest, he'd always get jealous whenever Tina even mentioned another guy. He wouldn't. Would he?
He tossed the blanket aside, and stood up slowly. He knew the hallway and the twins' room had the squeakiest floors, so he had to be careful as not to wake anyone. Unfortunately, he also knew Andy was the lightest sleeper, so as he tiptoed out of the room, he had to turn around a lot to check that they were still asleep. Just as he thought he was clear, he heard a quiet, "Zeke?"
He cringed, and turned around, "Go back to sleep, it's just a dream."
"Is Ollie here?"
"Roll over and see for yourself, squirt."
The small boy turned on his side and whispered, "Hi, Ollie."
Zeke could swear he heard, in reply, "Hi, Andy." He ignored them and marched out of the room. He crept down the hallway, through the living room, down the stairs, and into the Pesto family restaurant. Jimmy had told him where they kept the key, but warned him not to tell his dad. J Ju's dad believed himself to be the king of hiding spaces, but since he hadn't successfully kept a Christmas present secret since the twins were born, the evidence proved otherwise. Despite this, Jimmy couldn't imagine what his dad would do if he found out he wasn't as good as he thought himself to be, so he kept his mouth shut and let his dad think he was great at it. Zeke loved his best friend's family.
He walked up to the table closest to the counter, and overturned a transparent glass. He grabbed the keys and rushed to the door, unlocking it, and locking it on his way out. Stuffing the keys in his pocket, he breathed in the night air. Zeke always loved the nighttime, and often snuck out of his own house to just wander. He loved the way the stars sparkled, and the quietness of the usually noisy town. He stuck his hands in his pockets and started strolling.
There were a few houses that still had lights on, Zeke wondered what they were doing. He looked at his feet, noticed the cracks in the sidewalk. Her smile flashed in his mind, he shook it out, walked faster. Nothing was open, not at this hour. Zeke wanted to see her, wanted to hear her voice. It was ridiculous, there was no way. He shivered.
He had to get this girl out of his head. Usually walking took his mind off things, so he kept walking. However, even as he reached the gates of Wonder Wharf, he hadn't stopped thinking about her. He couldn't get this attached, but her smile, her eyes, her hands. He broke into a sprint. The air seemed to get colder, clouds covering stars. He reached the beach, and stopped in hesitation when he saw there was already someone there.
She turned around and it was Tina, "Zeke?"
He might.
Hi, guys!
I hadn't really planned to continue this, but after such positive review, I've decided to give it a go. Let's hope I don't give up on it, lmao
