Here's a question: Does anyone remember, a long long time ago, a so called 'pilot chapter' called Fifty Nifty United States? Probably not. But you can read it from my profile...I'd put in a link, but hates links so I won't.
Anyways, I wrote that I'd be writing up oneshots vaguely, incredibly vaguely based on historical fact. Historical facts of American History.
In any case, enjoy the first one.

Thank you to 15animefreak15 for inspiring me to get going on this project!
Chapter One: We're a Country…Now What?
Massachusetts laughed wildly. She flung her head back and cackled to the sky, staring up into the pouring rain, eyes glittering with glee and insomnia-induced madness.
New York looked at her, somewhat weirded out. "What on earth is wrong with you?"
Massachusetts stopped laughing and scowled at him. "We've won the war; will you lighten up?"
Pennsylvania could see an argument from a mile off, and he stepped in for INTERVENTION!
"Alright, alright, everyone calm down. We still don't know exactly what's going to happen."
"I think we're a country."
"Well no shit, New York, what a genius you are!"
Pennsylvania sighed a long sigh of the weary and overworked. New York and Massachusetts had been bickering ever since they were formed.
Massachusett's little brother Maine stepped in, timidly. "Hey…guys…? I think America's coming over…"
And so he was.
His uniform was muddy and torn, and he looked a million years old. But his blue eyes were bright.
"America!"
The states snapped to attention. To the side, New Hampshire was bandaging his leg and Connecticut and Rhode Island were helping each other with various injuries.
America smiled weakly at his states. They were so dedicated, so earnest. They had seen him through the war to the end.
"It is done," he said, softly. "I'm…we're…The United States of America, now."
South Carolina hugged her sister. Maryland cheered.
"Which means that we all have a lot of responsiblilty now…no more England taking care of us." He gulped, steadied himself, and went on. "I need you all to help in every way you can. We have to stick together…a team, a united front."
Georgia nodded solemnly. Delaware fiddled nervously.
"And we have to be mature. A country. I have to be someone that other nations will respect and want to form diplomatic ties with. Got that?"
Everyone nodded. Massachusetts stopped poking New York. Mature, yes; she could do that.
She hoped.
America grinned. He stuck his hand out. Alright, everybody. USA on three!"
All the state clustered around, and put their hands on top of America's.
"One…"
"Stop twitching, Delaware," New Jersey, squished between said Delaware and Viriginia, muttered.
"Two…"
"Sorry," mumbled Delaware.
"Three!"
"U! S! A!"
Oh they were so cool, America thought, fondly watching his state run in small, excited circles, or just stand there in a sort of daze like Connecticut.
And they were going to work! This American Experiment was going to work!
Hope you enjoyed that wonderfully cheesy and short ficlet there. I couldn't help but have the states do a team cheer thing. -shotshotshot-
hopefully the next one will be longer and better.
BTW: I've only lived on the East coast, and now live in Canada, so I don't really know much about the western part of the country. HECK, GEORGIA'S LIKE A DIFFERENT PLANET. BUT I'M DOING MY BEST WITH HER. So if anyone wants to help me out, please PM with a couple sterotypes/achetypes/patterns from your state! Anything that you feel defines your state would be awesome. PRUSSIA AWESOME.
THANK YOUUU!
