Hello ! Mukuro's here to provide you with a new chapter.
Enjoy
And I still own nothing except my OC and ideas.
POV - Lavenza
I don't know how long it has been since Ophis started talking to me about the supernatural, but oh boy was it boring, with her talking all this time with her monotone voice. Another thing that I will try to change in the future.
So far we talked about Sacred Gear, different species that inhabit the world, thought the only one she decided to explain more than the basics were of course the giant flying lizards ... I mean dragons. She also talked about magic in great lenght while still not really explaining much, while she did that, I managed to make her a promise to me. That she will train me in body and magic later on so that I could help her, and considering how seriously dragon take their promise, her words not mine, my training will probably start this week at the earliest for my body and tomorrow morning for my magic training.
She went in great details about the differents factions of the supernatural world. She talked about all the different mythologies, magicians organization and finally the Biblical factions and the Hindu Pantheon. When I asked why those last, she answered that they were more powerful factions simply due to the fact that to this day, a large portion of the human still knew of them in great details AND worshiped them. According to her, the Biblical God along Shiva, Indra, Brahma and Vishnu were the strongest being currently alive beside her and Baka-Red.
That was little bit of information that surprised me, not the strenght of those gods, I kind of expected it, but the fact that Ophis doesn't know of the Death of the Biblical God was unexpected to me.
While she explained all of this to me, I asked her questions about a lot of random things.
Like which faction leaders or Gods she is in good or bad term with. If I'm going to be officially her sister, I need to know my potential ennemies and allies.
The list is something like this:
Friends:
-Odin
-Thor
-Lugh
-Merlin
-Amateratsu
-Biblical God
-Azazel
-Michael
-Raphael
-Serafall
-Ajuka
-Shiva
-The Old Mage
...
The list is pretty much four time bigger than what I would have expected it to be, and I'm really curious as to how she formed those friendship, but she didn't want to tell me the too much details, saying that it isn't something that one as young as me should know.
Now I am really curious about it.
Anyway, back to the list.
Enemies:
-Baka-Red
-Zeus
-Hera
-Ares
-Indra
-Uriel
-Zekram Bael
...
On the other hand this one is definitely shorter than what I expected.
I asked her why her list of ennemies was so small. She just looked at me with a deadpan expression before answering my question in a cold tone that definitevely send shiver running down my spine.
"Listen well Lavenza, me as a dragon and by proxy you, due to the simple fact that you are my sister, we will have many ennemies in life, those that I listed to you are the only ones left on that list that I couldn't take care of or were simply asked to not be killed by the people I can consider my friends. As my sister I fully expect you to properly take care of any people that wish to harm you, and to honor the promises you will make to your friend and familly in the future. Am I clear Flower Girl ?"
"Yes big sis, crystal clear." I answered quickly, but just before she could continue, I yawned and started to feel very tired. "It appears that your body is at its limit Lavenza. Go rest on the bed, we will continue this talk at a later time. We will begin your Magic and Sacred Gear tomorrow morning"
I silently cursed in my head, even if it was boring, the amount of things I learned in the last few hours was insane. She clearly didn't live all of those millenia for nothing, even if she isn't interested in the rest of the worl in general, she sure did know a lot about it. But before going to bed to rest, I decided to ask a last question about something that definitely is one of the change that I asked for in my reincarnation briefing.
"Ok sis, but can I ask one last question?" I said politelly, to which she just nodded "Who is this Old Mage you reffered to when you told me of your friends ?" I was really curious about that one.
"Ah ... He is the oldest being currently alive beside Baka-Red and Me" my eyes widened a this tibit of information, according to her that guy was older than the Biblical God "He is the last surviving God of the first Pantheon, and he was once a human before ascending to Godhood." I didn't know it was physically possible, but my eyes widened even further than before. I mean, a human became a god, and from what I remember about old pantheon from my last life, the oldest one was the Sumerian one if I am correct, but I don't remember a human becomming a god, thought I admit that I am not sure about that one.
"When his pantheon started to fall, after they waged war against the pantheons that were created after theirs, all of his remaining allies and fellow humans turned gods gave all of theirs power to him, so that they will not be forgotten, which was a stupid move on their part. He was the strongest of their pantheon but loathed fighting in general, preffering to research different kind of magic instead. As his pantheon and the few that came after his fell little by little, they grew weaker. Once the Summerian came into existence, they just finished the jobs, they eradicated all trace of their predecessor so that they could claim that they were the oldest ones, even thought he later destroyed them as an act of vengeance for his felled friends, annoucing his existence to rest of the world who didn't know of the past before his appearance. He renouced his name and only wanted to be refered as "The Old Mage", the only people he still interact with in the modern era are the different association of mages and all Gods that have a domain over magic, as well as me and Baka-Red as he was always respectfull of his elder."
She stopped talking for a little while, her expression on her face changed suddenly, from bored or uniterested, it became something close to nostalgia. There was now some kind of spark in her eyes that wasn't present before.
"At a certain point in the past, The Greeks Gods tried everything they could to recruit him, claiming that he should be honored that they were granting him the priviledge to join them as they were the strongest, which at the time was not that farfetched. After decades of failed diplomacy, Zeus and Hera grewing tired and irritated of his continued refusal, asked Ares and other war oriented Gods of their pantheon to launch an assault on his home at the time, claiming that if he didn't want to join them he should just disappear, as any relics of the past should do."
Now that's just rude. Just because the guy doesn't want to work with you, you just go and try to kill him. I knew from my world history, that the Olympians were kind of retarded assholes, but I didn't expect them to attack an older deity that had already destroyed a pantheon in the past. What were they thinking ?
Maybe I'm wrong, stupid Gods as they were, to be confident enough to try to kill him, mean that they definitevely had the means to do so.
"This battle was the only time in the history of this planet that Baka-Red and me fought together"
WHAT ! How the hell is this planet is still standing if that battle really happened? Didn't they hate each other, even before Baka-Red kicked her out of the Gap ? I am really starting to hate the fact that I don't have popcorn on hand right now. Even if I could maybe create them via Sacred Gear bullshit, but I'm to tired to even try.
"At the time the Greeks were far more powerfull than they are today, they also had far more gods living, they were the strongest faction at the time, oppressing all the other minor faction minus the Shinto pantheon as they were too far away to bother them. After our battle started, Gens..The Old Mage, Baka-Red and me fought side by side for nearly a week without a break before the others pantheons sent help, seeing a great opportunity as we had already killed nearly 20% of the opposing side despite our innability to use our full power due to the fact that this battle happened here on Earth, at least for Baka-Red and me. If they tried to oppose us in the Gap or different plane of existence, they wouldn't have lasted more than an hour."
As she told me all of this, I couldn't help but be sceptic of all of this, not at her power mind you. Nothing like that was recorded in any mythology, why would they not want to record this major event. It is a pretty major event of every pantheon involved, regardless of the result. My face probably gave me away as she started to clear my doubt about this situation.
"If you are wondering why none of this was recorded in the mortal world, its simple, there is some kind of unspoken rule in the supernatural world, one that say that every inter-faction conflict won't be recorded in history. Ironnicaly, it was the Sumerian that created that "law" after their purge of the older pantheons." I nodded, this does explain why other event, like the great war of the Biblical three, were not know by us mortals.
"Back on topic, after a week, other gods began to help fight off the Greeks. Baka-Red and me weren't going to lose as they were considerably weaker than us, but The Old Mage was not that strong compared to them. The Norse, The Romans, Heaven and the Celts came to our side of the conflict as a whole. Amateratsu and Shiva also came observing the battle at first, but latter joined our side of the conflict for diverse reason."
She paused a little, giving me time to digest the story I've just heard. That ... That was definitively something I didn't thought could have happened in the past.
"When everything was over, the Greeks were forced to retreat, The Norse and The Celts suffered major loses despite not being the primary targets of the conflict. The Romans were completely wiped out, only Mars, Jupiter and Venus still lives to this day. Heaven took some major loses as well but not as bad as the other. Amateratsu would have lost her right arm if Gen..The Old Mage didn't heal her shortly after it happened. Baka-Red and me were about to chase them before The Old Mage asked us to simply let it be, he thought they would have learned their lessons after losing nearly 95% of their forces to us and being reduced to only a few dozen Gods compared to the thousands they were before. We weren't exactly happy about it, but we valued our friendship with him more than their deaths. If once again you wonder why all of this isn't more widely know. It is because all of the recorded story about the various mytholigies happened after this battle."
I gasped hearing that. That mean that pretty much all of what is know about them is a lie ... more or less.
"This event allowed the repressed pantheons to expend on the surface. The Greeks lost a lot of territory while others claimed land that no longer had an owner. To cover their losses, The Greeks assumed the position of the Romans Gods, effectively taking over it and by proxy the Roman Empire as well. Seeing all of this debacle, even the Biblical God tried to gain believer to his faith. He sent his son a few centuries after the battle, to the surface to spread his face, that is why he was so badly received at first, because it wasn't the Romans that condemned him but the Greeks Gods."
I yawned once again, fatigue taking its toll on my young body. Ophis noticed this but before she could say anything, I motionned her to continue her story, to which she just nodded, though she didn't appear to be pleased with my decision but respected it.
"In the aftermath of this battle, all of the surviving pantheon, whether they were involved or not, decided that this event would not be mentionned in their respective records. They also all began to take advantage of this new opportunity and spread their faith beyond their former border. While they were comrade in arm one moment, they were enemmies the next. Surprisingly, it was the two pantheon that were less involved in that conflict that didn't try to expand their dominion, The Shinto and The Hindu, being contempt with what they already possessed, except that warmongering idiot Indra, but that is another story, if Shiva didn't begged Baka-Red to spare him after he tried to subjugate him, he would be dead."
She paused once again to let this information sink into my head. But I couldn't help but to ask " So that is were the majority of your friend came from huh. They all at some point fought alongside you, so you now respect them." and right after saying that I yawned once again. Damn it, stupid young body that need its rest.
"Correct. except the devils and Merlin, which are another story alltogether, I became aquainted with them in that battle. At the time Lucifer, know as Luciel at the time, and Azazel were still in heaven so the concept of "Devils" and "Fallen" as a race didn't exist yet. Thought the "Devils" still existed, just under another name, the "Demons", which were led by their great king at the time, the Demon Lord Bael. After he was casted out of Heaven, Lucifer conquered them, and later altered their biology to create the Devils as we know them today. Though how I met them is a story that I will not tell until later in your life, as it isn't suited to young children." She said with something that resembled nostalgia and longing in her voice, taking me a little by surprise, but before I could think too much about it, she locked her gaze unpon me and said with a stern voice that I didn't think was possible for her.
"Now you should go to bed Lavenza, it is way past the time for you to go to sleep, I indulged you with these story enought for tonight. Am I clear Flower Girl ?" I nodded quickly, not wanting to anger her by mistake. I began to stand up, barely managing to walk properly as I realized that I was definitevely more tired than I thought. After I reached the door, I noticed that Ophis didn't move.
"Why are you staying there big sis ? Do you not want to go to bed together ?" I asked her, to which she reacted by closing her eyes, as if thinking hard about something, before answering me.
"You can go to bed without me Lavenza. I still have some things to take care of before joining you. It won't take long though. Just go to sleep like any good girl your age shoud do, Flower Girl."
"Ok ... But why do you keep alterning between my name and Flower Girl ? It is a little weird." She stayed silent for a moment, probably searching for a reply at my question "Because you said that I couldn't adress you as Lavenza the Flower Girl, so I keep alterning between them so you don't forget who you are."
...
I'm too tired to even think about it, it is a problem for tommorow, now I need to rest. "Ok, if you say so. Goodnight big sis." after saying that I walked the stairs in the wood cabin to go where the bedroom was. Once I entered it, I collapsed into the bed, which was incredibely soft, slowly drifting into the realm of dreams, but not before having some thoughts about all I learned this evening.
"All of what she explained to me, nothing like that happened in canon DxD, so I guess it is one of the small changes I asked about, though there is nothing small about it. The biggest change I can think of right now, is the fact that this Ophis seems less reclusive that the canon depicted her to be, she have some clearly defined relations with the rest of the world and not just some stupid desire to just go home without a care about what happen to the rest of the world."
It wasn't long before sleep caught to me and that my first day in my new life officially ended.
POV - Ophis
"Now you should go to bed Lavenza, it is way past the time for you to go to sleep, I indulged you with theese story enought for tonight. Am I clear Flower Girl ?" She answered my question with just a quick nod before finally heading to the bedroom.
This new sister of mine have way too much energy for me to handle. While it was good to retell all kinds of story about my past, it was exhausting and not something I will do everyday.
After standing up, she began to walk toward the door, but once she reached it, she stopped. Before I could ask her what was wrong she began to talk to me, again.
"Why are you staying there big sis ? Do you not want to go to bed together ?" she asked me with a tired voice.
It took me a few seconds to understand why she would ask me that question. She probably don't want to be alone right now after what happened with her previous familly. Just thinking about them irritate me, I guess it is time to take care of that problem.
I closed my eyes before thinking if I should tell her what I am about to do or not.
...
In the end I decided agains't it. Despite having made her first killed earlier today, I do not want to burden her with more things to worry about. "You can go to bed without me Lavenza. I still have some things to take care of before joining you. It won't take long though. Just go to sleep like any good girl your age shoud do, Flower Girl."I said to her, hoping she would leave the conversation at just that and finally going to sleep, but her answer was not what I expected.
"Ok ... But why do you keep alterning between my name and Flower Girl ? It is a little weird."
Huh ? She find the fact that I address her by her full name and title weird ? Why would a drago ...
Ah ... I see, I forgot she was still just a little human child, not a little dragon, the fact that she keep calling me her sister and that I just accepted it made me think of her as a dragon without realizing it.
Regardless of my mistake, I can't let her know that I thought of her as such, not that I won't let her know this in time. It is just that I don't want to inflate her ego this early in life. Pride is a sin as deadly for dragon as it is for human. I thought about everything we talked about since our first encounter, after a few seconds I finally found what will be my justification for my words.
"Because you said that I couldn't adress you as Lavenza the Flower Girl, so I keep alterning between them so you don't forget who you are."
It amazed me a little that I did it without even realizing it, as expected of me.
She just stared at me with a tired expression on her face, this girl really need to go to bed right now, or the magic training I promised her won't be possible in the morning.
"Ok if you say so. Goodnight big sis."
Finally. As of today. I will never ignore complaints about how raising a child is a lot of work and really tiring, and I didn't even had to raise her as a baby, which I've heard are the worst years for the familly of the newborn. Just thinking about how much peace and silence I would lose in a situation like this, made me happy about my decision to never have a mate in my life, the fact that I am a shapeshifter is a plus, even if my true gender is female, not that anyone except Baka-Red know it.
I stayed downstairs while keeping track of Lavenza's magical singnature, while she walked toward the bed. After a while she finally started to fall asleep.
Good. It is time to give a visit to a certain familly.
After standing up myself. I openned a portal which led to the sky right above her hometown. I walked throught it and started hovering in the sky.
I observed this little city for a while, searching for energy signatures close to Lavenza's own signature. It took me less than a minute to find them. I started to fly to position me right on top of her former house. I can feel what are probaly her parents, siblings and a dog. A total of five living inside this house. They were all talking happily in their kitchen while having dinner, as if they didn't had another daughter/sister just a week ago. They didn't even seemed bother by her absence at all.
What little good mood I had gained from talking to Lavenza earlier today, was now completely gone.
It is not just them I am angry at. The rest of the town deserve my anger too, as they did nothing to help my little Flower Girl, they stayed away from her problems, not wanting to be involved in her mess. it wouldn't surprise me if the four human that Lavenza and me killed earlier today, came after her by the command of someone in this town. Human sure are petty enough of a species to do something like that.
This kind of behaviour disgust me. How dare they not help my little Flower Girl. How dare they try to harm my sister even further. They must pay. All of them. By the time I am done with town, God will have 2668 new soul to judge in his little heaven above the clouds.
I opened my palm, started to gather my energy in the middle of it, compressing it as soon as it formed in the material world. When I gathered enought to deliver justice for Lavenza and appease my anger. I simply dropped the condensed orb of energy, as they aren't worthy of a true magical attack from me. It slowly fell toward the ground, toward her former house. When it made contact with the roof, a bright purple light blinded me for a few second before the energy released itself violently from its condensed state. And then came the explosion. I closed my eyes, waiting for all those lights and noises to stop before opening them again so I can admire my work.
...
After a few minute, all that remained of the town was a now a perfectly circular 16 killometer wide and 2.6 kilometer deep crater of molten rock and glass. Right above it was a now 50 kilometer high purple mushroom shaped cloud.
"Oops, guess I kind of overdid it a little" but it isn't important to me. I stared at the cloud and the crater that I just created. Huh, I guess I just basically...
What was the term again ... Ah right. I just basically nuked this town out of existence.
Today was a good day. I stayed a few minute more to observe my little work of art.
...
Now that I think about that. I suddenly have a urge to use my power to cause explosion and declare it for the whole world to hear, as a true work of art. Weird. Were did it come from, along with this sudden hatred for puppetry. I pondered in my head about this strange situation.
...
"Ah. Found you." I said out loud.
...
It was just the spirit of a blond terrorist that loved to use explosion as a form of expression. Even by human standart he was weird. How it managed to possess me even for a few moment, is totally beyond me, but I guess by the fact that it tried to pass away without my intervention, mean that its regret in life was to not have caused a big enough explosion for its taste. I guess making him in peace with himself so he can move on was my second good action of the night.
While thinking about all of that is indeed interesting, I need to get away from here. I don't want people to question my presence here, even if they will know it was me that has done this little work of art by recognizing my energy, maybe I should have disguised the energy in from the attack as always, but it is too late now ... And I again referred to an explosion as art. That spirit really was something, to influence a being like me to that point even after passing away.
Without waiting further, I opened another portal back home and walked right throught it. After arriving at my destination, I scanned the house to see if something happened to my Flower Girl. I found her still on the bed, still sleeping, albeit in a different position than before.
Good. Now that I have nothing else to do, I will join her to rest up for the night. Even if I don't need it, the act of dreaming is pleasant, one act that I will probably do more often than before now with Lavenza living with me.
I joined her on the bed to prepare to rest, but the moment I did so, she took me instanctively into her arm and started hugging me with a happy expression on her face, if not for the fact that I know with 100% certainty, that she was definitevely asleep, I would have to reprimand her for such a sudden action.
...
She really is warm, as I've heard hatchling are at this stage of their life. This sensation is kind of pleasant. If this is what sleeping with a sister is like, I won't mind doing it everynight.
Before abandonning myself to sleep as well, I turned myself to face her, and to finally say what I, as a sister and her only familly left, should have said earlier tonight.
"Goodnight my little Flower Girl, I hope you have good dreams." And with that I closed my eyes for the last time tonight.
POV - neutral
While our newly formed familly enjoyed their well deserved rest.
The human world as well as the supernatural one were in panic. One in total incomprehension of what just happened, and the other in surprise which was followed by fear for the few that could recognize the energy signature of The Ouroboros Dragon.
What or who could have made it to do such a show of strength in the mortal plane of existence. Was it a warning to someone that she isn't to be triffled with ? or was it a reminder of her strenght. Worst case scenario, she was just bored and wanted to have a little fun. While unlikely, especialy for one such as Ophis, this specific scenario happened several time in history.
All pantheon tried to insvetigate this event and the location it happened. Leading to a lot of skirshmish between the numerous rival faction that inhabit the supernatural world. While all of this was happening, all leaders discussed with their respective factions what could have caused the normally aloof and reclusive Dragon God to have acted in such a way.
POV - Odin
Deep inside the glorious hall of Valhalla. Odin assembled his closest aides to discuss the recent event.
"My friends. I suppose you have all sensed the energy spike earlier today." I asked just in case one of them managed to sleep from that. To my relief they all nodded.
"Great, Brynhildir, as you were the one in charge of the Valrkyries I sent to investigate this sudden activity by the Dragon god, give us your report." I ordered the leading Valkyrie, which stand near the gate of the conferrence room.
"Hai Odin-sama. Earlier today, me and a squadron of Valkyries under my lead were sent to the location of the incident, near a French town of the name of Montreux, in the North-East of the country, several other towns were blasted out of existence by the explosion, said explosion strangely didn't produce a shockwave, so the damages on the human world are almost non-existent compared to what we should have expected. We had confirmed it to be of draconic origins. We then compared the energy sample we gathered at said location to the ones we have in the laboratory in Asgard, and the result were clear, it was definitively Ophis that caused it. Though there was one small difference to it compared to the one we had."
Small difference it may be, when we talk about being like her, every details count. by the looks of the Thor and rest of the ones presents, they all probably agree with me. "Oh . And do please tell what minor detail differed from our previous sample ?" I asked with a nonchalant tone in my voice, even if my eyes probably gave away how serious I was.
She started hesitating a little. Weird from such an usualy serious Valkyrie. "Well the thing is ..."
...
While this happened at the home of the Norse Gods, the same discussion happened almost word for word in many seperate pantheon.
...
POV - Raphael
" ... And can you be a little more specific on what that filthy dragon did this time, angel Masael ?" asked, no ordered Uriel, his words full of venom as usal at the mention of Ophis. Ever since he was ignored by the dragon in favor of Azazel at time of that conflict, he grew to despise her for such petty reason. He was the only one in heaven that was happy at the news of her "banishement" out of the Dimentionnal Gap.
Before our messenger Masael could respond to him, I reprimanded him for such an inapropriate conduct for an Archangel such as him.
"Uriel." my voice was stern, I needed to remind him, and everyone present, that it was me that Michael assigned to lead this meeting in his absence, while he was operating the System, trying to salvage the souls of the mortals that were exposed to Ophis pure and unfiltered energy. If nothing was done they wouldn't be able to go to heaven, even if they were all saint in life.
"It is unbecomming of you to let your personnal grievance with the Ouroboros to try to alter the course of this meeting, which need I to remind you, meeting that I preside in Michael absence ?" I declared to all those present to hear. It was not the first time the repport was interupted by his vulgar comment about Ophis or the dragon race in general.
"Tsch, and you are telling me you aren't letting your fondness of that monstruosity affect your judgement, brother." he said to me, one of his fellow Archangel, words that were filled with hate, so much that his pure white wings, flickered black for a few moment, shocking me all of the other present as well.
"Uriel ! Leave this room immediatly !" I ordered out loud, his face had shown anger, which triggered the flickering of his wings once again, before stopping and changing to confusion, wondering why I wassuddenly ordering him that. " Your clouded mind is not welcome in this meeting brother, and if you further let your emotion affact your judgement, you will definitevely fall out of grace." he was shocked by my words, clearly not expecting that.
"It is true brother. We all saw your wing briefly turning black. If one such as you were to fall, for such petty reason even, it will be a great blow for Heaven. Father would saddened that one of his trusted children fell by feeling anger and distate for one of his friend." said my sister Gabriel, in a sweet and calm tone, only capable by her, which managed to defuse this delicate situation.
It is in those moment that I am truly happy of her presence in Heaven.
"I-I-I'm sorry about what I showed you all, Raphael, Gabriel. I will take my leave and reflect on my actions in my private quarter." He left the room , under our scrutiny, without saying anything else.
After Uriel left the room. The rest of us were simply staring at each other in an akward silence. This is not good, we need to get back on track. I coughed in my hand a few time. Once I had everyone attention once again, I resumed the meeting.
"So, what was that small detail that changed, Masael ?" I asked the angel giving the report to the council.
"Ah, please forgive my tardiness in delivering such news, Lord Raphael. What we were able to determine from the readings of the two energy sources, is that the Ouroboros, once again changed form." While a little unusual, it isn't a big deal.
"But that's not all we could find about this change. She apparently chose to take a corporeal form this time, instead of her usual energy based transformation. Now she have a body made of flesh and bones once again."
That is a big deal.
The last time Ophis deigned granting the world with a physical incarnation of her being, was the only time she and Great Red fought together. The Battle that allowed Father to send Lord Jesus Christ on Earth to spread his words to mortals ears, in essence allowing us to gather follower to our faith.
I hope the Greeks won't do anything rash this time, she just razed a few town out the maps for seemingly no reason at all. I don't want to know what she will do if they gave her a reason to spread destruction.
I tried to speak to share my thought on the matter, but surprisingly I was interrupted by Masael. "I did not finish the report, Lord Raphael. The more worrying part of it is still left unsaid."
That made me flinch, what can be worrying about the rest of the report. "Then please do tell us. We need every bits of information we can gather on this whole debacle will help us decide how to solve this whole incident."
Masael then proceeded to give us news that made all of us, wish stronger than ever before, that Father was still with us, but this time not of love and longing, but simply so we could dump all of this mess that is starting to form, unto him. I can definitevelly hear Michael complaint about all the headache he will have in the future, once he will be informed of this devellopment.
POV - Azazel
"Excuse me, but what the fuck ?!" questionned/yelled Kokabiel, who didn't said a word in this meeting before now. While his words were a little crude, I couldn't really blame him. "Could you please repeat that for me Mittelt ?" he then asked the cute fallen loli that were reporting to us.
Said loli, that is actually several hundred years old, was sweating under the glare of her direct superior.
"I-I just said that the energy of the now confirmed female Ophis is bonded to another being. In a way that was only observed between siblings, dragon siblings to be exact." she gulped, needed a few moments to regain her breath and calming down a little. "And moreover, it is bonded to a human female, quite young if our reading are correct. Probably in the first half of her first decade in life in our scientist are correct."
After saying the end of the report once more. We all began to think about what wave such information would make in the world in silence. As nothing else was required of her, but still standing in the middle of the conferrence room. I could see a sweating Mittelt fidgeting a little and growing more and more akward as time passed. I decided to gracefully spare her the embarassement.
"Thank you for you report Mittelt. You are hereby dismissed." I announced in a serious tone. After bowing to us, she quickly left the conferrence room. a few moment passed by with nobody saying anything, before I decided to crack a joke; because, seriously, the atmosphere of the room was so tense I could cut with a light spear if I tried.
"So, if Ophis took a female apparence this time, you all won't mind if I try to bed her if she is hot, maybe her apparent new "sister" as well as a bonus when she is old enough." I said with a grin and a wink to the rest of the room.
I didn't have to wait long to have the reaction I wanted out of them. Silmutaneously, all of the other Cadre facepalmed, before Kokabiel shouted. "Azazel ! This is serious, not a time for your lewd jokes ! We need to do something about this." while he said, I'm sure I heard something coming from Penemue direction, murmuring something along the line of "If he manage to do that, he will my eternal respect", but I'm not sure of it, seeing as Baraquiel and Kokabiel who were sitting right next to her didn't react, maybe it was my imagination.
"I think we now know, or at least have a good theory as to why Ophis unleashed such an attack on the human realm." announced Baraquiel, completely ignoring the shouting Kokabiel.
"Oh ? Care to share your deduction with us my friend." I asked of him, for I still don't have a single clue as to why she would do that.
"I think I have a good idea of the why she did it, because if I am correct and were in the same position she possibly was in. I would definitivelly make the same choice that she did, albeit with less innocent casualties." he said, clearly confusing us all, but before we could question him and his sanity in the case of Kokabiel and Shemhazai, he continued his explication. "As you all know, I am married and have a daughter, a familly to feed and protect." As he said that, I felt my eyes and saw the eyes of every other person in the room widen at the same time.
"If something were to endanger them, I would also kill all who were involved." he said in a tone that left no doubt that he would deliver such threat if provoked.
"Now taking into account that Ophis is a dragon, which is a species that is famous for fiercelly protecting what they claimed as their possession, be it treasures or people." He paused for a few moment "My guess is that someone or a group of people that were currently in this region of France, did some harm or had harmfull intention toward the human she claimed as her sister. In response, Ophis simply unleashed her power on those people, not caring about collateral damage or discretion at all, which is on par to what we know about her. Or maybe she took pity on such a human girl after the event I described, and simply took revenge after the fact."
The room grew tense once again at his words, and I'm no longer in the mood to try to appease it.
"Do we have some clue about who angered her ? If it were one of our own, I fear for our survival." said weakly Penemue, not that I can blame her for it. The prospect of angering Ophis is not a happy one. Even as one she consider her friend, I doubt I could make her show mercy to the Grigori if such a case was true.
"I had no one stationned in this particular region of France, the church influence is too strong there to bother sending anybody, they would just be killed in less than a day." I said clearly to her, hoping to dissipate her doubts about our potential involvement.
"If you say so Azazel. But we still have to decide, how the Grigori as a whole, will react to Ophis and her new charge, what do you want our relation with her to be. And by Father, don't let your friendship with her influence your judgement Azazel." said to me a now deadly serious Kokabiel. At his words, the attention of everyone were now focused on me, all of their gaze were as serious as the one Kokabiel sent me.
What to do ... "For now, our official plan of action regarding those two individual will be ..."
The various leaders of the Fallen Angels continued their discussion for a few more hours before finally come to a decision.
POV - Sirzech
"What action do you think the Devils should take in regards to this new devellopment Sirzech ?" asked me friend, almost brother, Ajuka Beelzebub. I know he had a soft spot and friendship for the Dragon God, as she helped him and Serafall several times by the past, though she didn't do it intentionally all the time.
"I think we shouldn't do anything. I fear that if someone tried to recruit this human to their peerage, it could lead to Ophis genociding our species, if we were to try to form an alliance with her or her charge, all the other pantheon would take arms agains't us. As long as we are the one to initiate contact, nothing good will come out of it." I said with a neutral tone, one fit for such meeting.
"Hmm, I can see your point. Even if I would like to meet the human than she had recognize as her sister, I can wait for her to greet us on her own. What do you think Serafall ?" ... no responses "Serafall, did you hear me ?" asked Ajuka once again ... as she still didn't answer his question, we both turned our head to face the current Leviathan.
What we saw was a Serafall that was lost in thought, mumbling something about "cute", "so-tan" and "rival magical girl".
We both turned to face eachother once again, and nodded, understanding what the other wanted as well. None of us were going to bother Serafall when she was in her Magical Girl mode, not worth the headache.
"We need to keep a tight watch on Zekram and a few of the oldest Devils Clan, who know what stupid plot they will conjure in theirs rotten head when they will hear of this." commented my friend
"Agreed. they will probably try to harm Ophis's sister as a petty way to get some sort of revenge agains't her and what did to them in the past, but she is ..." I was then interupted by a now aware and screaming Serafall.
"WHAAAAT !" ouch my ears, the whole underworld probably heard that shout "Who the hell will try to harm Ophis-kun, crap its chan now. Who the hell will try to harm by cute Ophis-chan imouto ! I can't make her my or So-tan magical girl rival if she is hurt ! And I won't forgive someone that harm Ophis ! I owe her too much to let that slide, even if it was my own familly !" she screamed at our ears, which were now bleeding a little due to her volume.
"Calm down Sera, calm down. If you are bothered so much by it, you can be in charge of watching all potential threat to them from our side." I said to her trying to appease the now furious Leviathan. "You bet I will ! I can't let such a good opportunity pass up." she exclaimed.
"Aaah. I can already saw it, So-tan, Ophis, her sister and me, all dressed as magical girl fighting for love agains't evil, it would probably quadruple the audience of my show." I facepamed at her childish reason.
"I have so many things to say about that statement, but I will settle to being happy that you didn't include Rias in your little group." I said to her, with relief in my voice.
"Oh but she can join later if she want to, I won't force anyone to join me, that's just silly." she said innocently.
Ajuka an me sweatdropped and thought at the same time "Didn't she just forced three other girls to join her stupid group just a few seconds ago ?!"
"Well if that is all we had to discuss, I guess now is a good time to close this meeting and getting back to our usual occupation." said Ajuka. Probably trying to get out of this meeting to return to his personnal lab to probably not be seen for a good part of the coming month.
"Well then, if nobody have anything more to say, I will be going as well." I said before standing up.
Before Serafall could add something of her own. We all heard the quiet noise of someone sleeping. We all turned our head, knowing what to expect, but still couldn't coming to term with it, no matter how many time we saw it.
What graced our eyes, was a sleeping Falbium Asmodeus.
"""How did he manage to sleep throught all of that meeting ! How can he still be asleep after Serafall/I shouted right next to him !""" shouted the remaining Satans.
"Zzzz . ZzZzz. ZZzz"
After shouting once more and trying to wake him to no avail, the three awake Satans just left the room, thinking that a servant will probably try to wake him up come morning.
August 29 2000
That was the date of the unknown explosion happened in France. An event that was officialy reported as an unknown type of meteorite by the governements of the world.
It was also know to only two people to be the birthday of a certain 5 year old girl, witch her new sister was happy to know when she was told, saying that she gave her the best present without knowing it. By that is unrelated to the current topic.
For several months, the scientist of numerous country and organization tried to find an explanation to such a weird phenomenon. The only thing of note that they found, was the discovery of a weird new type of energy, which gave a strange kind of radiation that affected only non-organic matter, seemingly reinforcing it. But before they could try to study it further, almost all of the scientist involved were murdered, disapeared or simply couldn't recall that they were working on it in the first place, as well as all notes on said research disapearing overnight.
Such a strange event basically screamed conspirancy to everyone in the world. Though the truth of the matter was quite close to such a case.
The only reason that the human world at large know of it, is due to one single invention, that everybody in the supernatural overlooked, not deeming it worthy of attention.
The Internet.
By sharing what they know about the case throught it, in less than a few day, basically all the globe knew about this strange new energy before the incident about the scientist.
Now that all of that basically disapeared overnight, and that the governements involved now deny such research or energy to have ever existed, one official even claimed that no town was ever "nuked out of existence" as the journalist that questionned him said.
Needless to say that the peoples and non-involved governement started to think that they were hiding a huge secret from them.
For several years after the fact, a lot of people tried to solve this enigma as well, but all met the samefate as their predecessor, reinforcing the belief that the governements were hiding somzthing huge, which also increased internationnal tension around the globe.
...
Let it be know that the supernatural beings in charge of covering magical incident from the various factions of the world, were not the brightest people on Earth.

And done.
That chapter was little hard to write for me. I had basically all what I wanted to say in my head ... but in french as that is my native language.
The hardest part was to basically find the words coresponding to what I wanted to write.
It is only chapter two and I had already made huge change to cannon, more specialy, the lore of the canon DxD.
All the things I wrote about the Greeks, was just a tool for me to justify the actions of Hades later in the story. What reason did he have to act like he did in canon except "I just hate the biblical faction", not much, he didn't even had a good reason except to be a plot device for the birth of Lilith. Now with that, he has a good and legitimate reason to hate them and also Ophis and Great Red.
I depicted Ophis as really possessive and more imporantly, brash and quick to make assumption about a situation as you probably realized. I think it is logical from what we know about canon Ophis, and after seeing the lenght of what she was willing to do just to go back to the Gap, it is perfectly logical seing her react that way to a percieved threat to her sister.
My idea of incorporating some forgotten and unknown pantheon came from a few old artefact that were found in our world, from periods of history before the Sumerians. I just assumed they probably had a religion specific to their culture, and voila, a new OC for my story with a loaded backstory and a huge impact on the history of the world of my fic.
He will come up at some point of the story, but not in the next few chapters.
Hope you enjoy reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it
Also, I won't pair Ophis with Lavenza. Even if Ophis could probably shapeshift to a dude just to potentially "mate" with her, I won't do it. They will stay as sister and I have no pairing planned for either of them. Thought I do admit the idea is kind of interesting. I don't think I had ever seen a fic were Ophis was male as once stated in canon DxD.
With that said I wish you a good day.
Mukuro signing out.
