Chapter 2:
Ten years later
-Maka's p.o.v.-
"Maka! Hurry up!" exclaimed my best friend Hinata.
"I'm coming, I'm coming already! Yeesh Hina, for a shy girl you sure do nag alot!" I joked. Hina blushed.
"W-well I'm sorry! I just don't want to be last again! We get strange looks already from the students you know? Stop laughing!"
"S-sorry but you were blushing the entire time! Let them laugh! They're just mad because they're not as awesome as us!"
"They laugh at us because we're different! We don't have weapons! We are the only ones without weapons! They don't even know if we can be meisters! They don't want us here because we don't belong here Maka! Just because your mom was a meister and your dad is a weapon doesn't mean that you are as well! I came here because i was forced to but you weren't! And-" Hinata shut up realizing her mistake.
After a couple of minutes I responded angrily. "So what we're different? Who gives a damn?! We don't have weapons but it's because we haven't found our partners yet. We are meisters. I don't care what they say and neither should you. I dont care. My mom is dead to me. She abandoned me. I am nothing to her and she is nothing to me."
"I-I'm sorry Maka. I didn't mean that. I-it slipped out! I swear it won't-"
"Whatever. Let's go." I began to walk away from the room, past the main entrance, and halfway through the parking lot before I stopped and broke off into a run.
"M-Maka! W-wait up!" I vaguely heard Hina say as she gave chase after me. "S-Stop! Maka please st-stop!" I heard her again, closer this time but breathing heavily. I slowed down but very little and sat on a fountain to wait for her to catch her breathe.
I stayed silent, absorbed in my thoughts until Hinata snapped me out of it by falling from exhaustion. "Hinata! Are you alright?" I asked worries because she had fallen on the cement instead of landing on the side of the fountain next to me.
"Yeah. Just a small fall off a fountain. Nothing new right?" replied Hinata as she dusted herself off, smiling all the while.
Regular P.O.V.
Maka tried to hold in a laugh but couldn't help it and busted out laughing at the remark. Hinata had been clumsy before but not as much as Maka for the last 10 years. Hinata could not remember a time when Maka went a week without falling over her own feet.
"Maka are you alright?" she asked as her friend leaned over as if in pain while breathing heavily and clutching her chest. Hinata became worried when her friend wouldn't answer her. She began to call for help as she scanned the area to see if anyone could help her friend. She spotted a group of young males and became nervous as she had never been particularly good with males.
Come on Hinata! Be strong! Do it for Maka! Hinata claimed the group's attention by yelling at the top of her lungs when she thought of what could happen to her friend due to her shyness.
A tall, blonde male reached her and Maka first as the rest of the group trailed behind, always staying in the shadows. Hinata began asking for help and explaining the situation when the boy smiled at her. That was the last thing she saw before the world went black.
A/N: Thank you for being so patient! Please R&R!
