2. Rhys/Gwen, Questions

He tries to tell himself that it's for her job. She stays gone for long hours for work and nothing more. She'd never just go off and fool around.

Would she?

Rhys repeats his little assurances over and over in his head. She's chosen him, and that's what's important. She loves him and only him.

Doesn't she?

But when she crawls into bed, thinking he's asleep, Rhys can smell the lingering traces of another man clinging to her skin.

"There's someone else, isn't there?" he whispers long after she's drifted off to sleep.

He'll never ask when she's awake. Instead, he'll go on, silently wondering and maybe (not so) subtly implying, too afraid of what the answers to his questions might be.
