"Mo-Momiji?"
'This girl is…Momo?!' thought Momiji as he looked down at his younger sister. 'I have to be careful. I wonder what she's doing out here by the estate alone?'
"Momiji! I-I have something I gosta say to yous." Suddenly, Momo looked at Momiji with dark pleading and hopeful eyes. "Mama says you don't but I think you look just like Mama, and Papa said I couldn't see yous anymore but…but I want you to be Momo's big brother!"
Momiji's eyes filled with emotion and for a moment he felt as if he might cry. 'If only you knew Momo. If only you knew. But I have to honor Papa's wishes.' "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I can't be your big brother Momo. I wonder if you'll make me a promise though?" 'I can't look at her. I must be hurting her so badly! I'm so sorry Momo!' Momiji looked away as he made his request. "Momo, I want you to promise me that you won't come watch me play anymore." He turned back towards the girl to instead of tears, a much more painful look of mourning and dejectedness.
"Momiji? Will you keep playing the violin?"
"Yes."
"Then I'll keep playing too. And one day we'll hold a concert together for all our friends 'kay?"
"Maybe." Momiji replied handing Momo a candy.
"Kay! Bye Momiji!" and Momo began running down the street, candy in tow. "Oh! Momiji!" she said turning around, "I hope that one day I'll be able to play the violin as well as yous can!" and once again she was off.
'Momiji you silly! Even though you made me promise not to, I'll always watch you from the shadows!'
Momiji watched in awe as his younger sister smiled and ran off.
'Please forgive me Momo. But I'll always watch you from a distance where it's safe. I'll hide and silently I'll watch you from the shadows. I'll practice hard and wait patiently for that day when we'll play together in harmony…as brother and sister.'
