Beginning of the End Ch. 2

AN: Second chapter! Enjoy! May the force be with you! Also, I appreciate the reviews!

Ezra was still. Not moving and barely breathing. Sabine was beginning to panic. Her attention was no longer on the mystery man who called himself Kyle, but on Ezra. I have to keep him alive, I can't… no, I won't let him die! Sabine thought to herself. She ripped Ezra's shirt off to evaluate his injury.

Ezra's chest was somewhat toned, like that of an athlete, and was littered with scars from his time on the streets of Lothal. Sabine blushed, as the entire situation seemed awkward, but she snapped back to focus when she saw blood forming at the base of his waist. She saw a large bloody hole in Ezra's side, just above his hip, and just to the left of the center of his stomach.

The blood was beginning to pool around Ezra. Always the pessimistic type of person, Sabine guessed that Ezra had maybe 10 minutes before he bled to death. The thought of Ezra, pale white and deathly still shook her to her core. The sound of metal crashing attracted her attention, just fast enough to see the Inquisitor fly into the wreckage of an AT-AT. Kyle had drawn his lightsaber, but hadn't activated it.

Kyle then ran over to Sabine's side. How is he? Kyle asked. His voice was deep and oozed authority, making even the toughest soldier want to drop to their knees and beg mercy. Sabine said nothing as she tried desperately to stop the bleeding. But the blood oozed through the makeshift rags she used. Finally, the last of the rags had been run through with blood. Ezra was so pale with blood loss; he looked like a skeleton with flesh.

Sabine sat back on her butt, leaning back with exhaustion. She stared blankly at Ezra's bloody side. Then she began to cry… softly at first, then harder, until it became loud sobs of despair, that spread across the plains of Lothal. Sabine buried her head in her hands, tears spilling through her fingers like if it were in a river.

She heard the grass beside her crunch as someone kneeled down beside Ezra. She briefly opened her eyes, and saw Kyle with his hand on Ezra's forehead. He was whispering in some strange language that sounded like gargling of the throat. She cried harder into her hands. It's some kind of Jedi goodbye tradition Sabine thought.

Suddenly, light shone out from under her eyes. She opened her eyes to see Ezra glowing with light. Suddenly, the light died, and Kyle swayed slightly, as if drunk or dazed. A gasp shattered the silence as Ezra sat up, eyes opened wide, and the hole in his side gone. The blood that had covered the ground beneath Ezra was gone to, and color had returned to Ezra's skin.

Ezra panted heavily as he looked to Sabine, whose mouth was agape with shock and disbelief. Sabine Ezra whispered. EZRA! Sabine cried, as she embraced him, holding him as if he were about to disappear. Ezra was stunned, but hugged her back. He looked up to see Kyle, who had a troubled look on his face.

You're friends are coming back, they believe the Imperials to be gone Kyle said. Kanan! Ezra said suddenly, as he ran over to his master, who remained unmoving. He's alive, just unconscious Kyle said. The soft sound of the Ghost could be heard approaching. I must leave you now Kyle said, turning to go. Wait! Ezra said. Come with us! We could use your help in our fight against the Empire Ezra said. Kyle smiled softly. Soon young Ezra, soon I will join you… but not today, for I am needed elsewhere Kyle said.

The Ghost was now docked, and Hera and Zeb came running out. Ezra, Sabine! Hera cried as she embraced them both. I thought the bucketheads would've gotten the 3 of you for sure! Zeb said, as he punched Ezra on the arm playfully. He saved us Sabine said pointing to Kyle. Thank you Hera said. Jedi help others, and I'm no different Kyle said. Hera and Zeb's eyes widened, but Kyle put his hand up to silence them.

I'm sure you have questions, questions that will be answered in due time, but I'm afraid that I must be off Kyle said. Kyle turned o leave, then paused and turned to Ezra. Your parents would be proud young Ezra Kyle said. You may yet be a great Jedi Kyle said softly. He then turned, then his cloak, which had been discarded in his brief battle with the Inquisitor, who remained unconscious in the AT-AT wreckage, and it surrounded him. In a flash of golden light, Kyle vanished, leaving the rebel insignia in his place.

Kanan finally began to come to his senses, and sat up. What I miss? He asked. Ezra and Sabine laughed. Nothing much, we were just talking to a friend Ezra said. Oh well let's go home then Kanan said.

As they were walking back, Ezra looked at Sabine. Thanks He said. For what? She asked. Helping to keep me alive Ezra responded. YOU saved ME! Sabine said. You jumped in front of the Inquisitor's lightsaber! Sabine said, tearing up a little. Well, you're worth saving Ezra said smiling. I know that you may not like me or anything, but you are my friend, and I'm never going to let anything happen to you Ezra said.

Sabine hugged Ezra suddenly. I don't like you Sabine said softly, I love you. Ezra was stunned. Sabine then kissed him softly on his lips. Just don't die on me again, got it? Sabine said. Ezra smiled. Yea, I got it. He then kissed her, and she kissed him. Ezra's heart was pounding out of his chest with joy when Zeb called. Let's go lovebirds! Zeb shouted. Ezra and Sabine pulled apart blushing before going onboard, holding hands. The Ghost then took off into the sunset, awaiting the next adventure.

Hours later, the Inquisitor woke up. He was dazed, but otherwise unharmed. He growled in frustration. Then he smiled. I know how to get Ezra to turn to the dark side… by killing his girlfriend… Sabine Wren, you will DIE! And the Inquisitor laughed evilly as he began formulating his dark plans.
