The day of departure came, and the animals came to say their final goodbyes. After days of travel, it was the day of arrival. Kala was compliant and simply changed into the dress that Jane had bought for her. Jonathan, despite much arguing, was still reluctant to wear his suit.

Finally Jane gave up and retrieved the only one left that could talk some sense into Jonathan. "Tarzan! Come talk to your son!"

Tarzan wandered into his son's room. "Jonathan, why won't you just wear the suit?"

"It's stupid. Just because Kala wants to be all proper and stuff, shouldn't mean that I have to be, too."

"Jonathan, look at it this way. How do you think I felt when I had to wear my father's suit for the first time?"

"Ridiculous."

"Yes, but I did it anyway. That was what I thought would make your mother happy. Even now, I still hate wearing that suit, but I still wear it when necessary. Now, it is necessary for you to wear the suit your mother bought for you."

"Fine. I'll be out in a minute."

When the family got off of the boat, they were met with a contraption that Tarzan and the children were not so familiar with. "Uh, Jane, what's that?"

"Well, Tarzan, that's an automobile. I haven't seen one since I left England. It will take us where ever we want to go." After a brief ride, the family arrived at a place only Jane recognized, for it was once her home. "Oh my God. It's still just as I remember it. Of course the grass has grown up a little, but other than that." The white picket fence still stood tall in front of the white, two-story house with bright blue shutters. Jane led them inside to a huge living room, meant for parties, furnished with a couch, and a few tables around the room with accompanying chairs. Towards the back of the room was a doorway to the kitchen and a staircase going to an upper floor. The walls were covered in paintings and pictures of the Porter family in different points of time. "Well, make yourselves at home. This is the living room. Now, if you would follow me upstairs," Jane led them upstairs, "This is the bathroom, the three guest bedrooms, and the master bedroom. Kala, if you would follow me please," They went to the end of the hallway to a door that had previously gone unnoticed. Jane opened it to a decently sized room with a small, yet comfortable, bed, a desk covered by stacks of books, and a telescope next to the window.

"What is this?"

"This was my room. I want you to have it."

Kala gave her a look of surprise. "No, you don't have to do that. I can room with Jonathan. I'd probably end up breaking something very sentimental to you."

"Good luck with that. Most of my sentimental items have found their way to Africa by now except that telescope. Besides I trust that you are responsible enough not to break that."

Kala still had a slight look of disbelief. The two shared a tight embrace. "Thank you, Mother."

"No, thank you."

The next day Jane took Kala to get signed up for school. "Elizabeth's Preparatory Academy, just the way I remember it. Maybe you'll make friends the same way I did when I had just started here."

"I wouldn't be so confident, but continue."

"Now Kala, you don't know that. It's all in how you present yourself." Jane said leading her to the administration office. An older lady looked up from her paperwork. "May I help you?"

"Yes, I would like to enroll my daughter."

The lady started thumbing through a file cabinet before presenting a small pile of papers, a clipboard, and a pen. "Fill these out and we will provide further information when you are done."

Kala attempted to continue their conversation. "Mother, I am the 'celebrity' from the jungle. If anything they will probably want to run me through a dozen tests."

Jane sat and started on the paperwork. "Like I said, you don't know that. Look at me, I was the girl who wanted to be in a field dominated by men. I not only graduated but made several friends. How far are you in your schoolings? Though I truly do not see why that would matter atall. How far did you get?"

"Well I don't know. We never really payed attention to grade level, just the information. I believe I was into algebra in mathematics. I could read any book we had. Grandfather did his best to teach me of chemistry and biology, and I understood a vast majority of it."

"Okay, so I would guess around the equivalent of a high school graduate. Mamm here would be your paperwork. When can she start?"

"The first day would be tomorrow. You got her here just in time. Classes begin at 8:00 and last until 3:00. It is encouraged that you bring your own lunch. Have a nice day."
