Did you guys like the first part of the mini fic? I hope you did because there is a lot more to go through to see if Klaus can succeed in accomplishing his goal. Can he really win Hayley's heart as Rebekah thinks he can?

Day 2: Rebekah and Hayley have a little girl chat, after Klaus gives his sister the report of what happened the other night. Klaus questions Jackson's authority over the wolves as Hayley gets caught in the middle. Elijah returns to the compound in order to say goodbye, and is cornered by Klaus when Hayley tells him off. At long last, Klaus' attitude towards the wolves makes Hayley think about reaching out to the wolf side of him, which has been long but forgotten.

Hope was the attention of all the people at the compound first thing in the morning, making Hayley pleased with the care and support everyone offered her daughter. She woke up bright and early to feed her and watch over her. She bit her lip as she went out on the interior balcony to look down at werewolves busying themselves in the compound. Some were having breakfast, some were happily joking and others were showing off their new skills. She rolled her eyes at that thought, as she held her baby daughter. She didn't know how to feel about last night. So much has happened. She said goodbye to Elijah, married Jackson…and Klaus…She closed her eyes and bit her lip at the thought of him.

For the first time since she met him, he was catching her off guard. One minute, he is cold and he is against the wedding, the other he is being distant, the next he is immoral and he is extremely passive about everything and then, he shows up with his warm and carefree smile, making her stare at him like he is the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. His smile…Hayley couldn't deny that he had that effect on her. It made want to think more about where their relationship stood. It made her want to be closer to him. She scoffed as Hope burped in her arms. What was she thinking? She is a newly-married woman. Jackson…she tried closing her eyes, tried thinking about him, but when she did, all she could see were his sharp cheekbones, and ruffled wolfish hair, the twinkle in his malicious eyes…she couldn't shake him off. She gasped as she opened her eyes and covered her mouth with the one hand she was not holding Hope with. Since when could she fantasize about him that way? He was Klaus, for God's sake!

"How is married life treating you, wolf girl?" she heard someone behind her and Hayley gasped, turning around and meeting Rebekah's stare. "Oh, sorry, did I frighten you, love?" she asked as she stepped forward and kissed her niece's head. "No, I'm fine. I just had trouble sleeping last night, that's all…and I do have a hard time seeing you in this body." Hayley pointed out. The sexy and sassy blonde was no longer standing before her, as she was expecting. She was now standing in front of a creole young woman who really looked like she belonged to a nutty family, before they released her. "I know. And now with Kol…" Rebekah could not finish her words and Hayley sighed, as she knew how much Kol's death upset Rebekah, even though this was no permanent death. Rebekah pulled herself together and said with a smile, "I am sure that I will find someone to put me back in my own body soon enough."

"I am very sorry, Rebekah. Even though I didn't know Kol that well…" Hayley began but Rebekah caught her off at once with a smile still on her face as she watched the baby, nestled in her mother's arms. "It's nothing to worry about. We are here to talk about you, right? So, tell me, how is married life treating you?" Hayley didn't know the proper words with which she could express herself. "I don't really know what I can tell you, Rebekah. This is the first day I am waking up married." "I want to know if you're happy." "Jackson is a man with whom I can be happy with." Hayley managed to respond and went back inside, to put Hope back in her crib and Rebekah followed her. Little did Hayley know that Rebekah knew about what had happened the other night between her and Klaus. All she needed to see right now was if Hayley was comfortable talking about it with her. "How come? You seemed happy with Elijah." The Original Sister placed her hands on her hips, demanding an answer.

Hayley sighed and put her child in the crib, turning around to face her. "Rebekah, what Elijah and I had…I always felt like it was never going to last. Our relationship was based on something…superficial." Rebekah's eyes widened at that comment. Never once had she expected a woman to say that about her and the good and noble brother Elijah. "So, you don't regret marrying Jackson and not being with Elijah?" "Frankly, no. I know my duties and I would rather get married to a man I don't love for the benefit of my daughter than to continue a superficial relationship with a man who won't tell me he loves me." Rebekah tapped her fingers on the table. "That's odd. Elijah has never been one to be afraid of showing or telling his feelings to a woman…" "…unless he doesn't actually feel that way." Hayley finished for her.

"Elijah left the compound, Hayley and he went to join Marcel's crew. I am sure that he will no longer be bothering you." Hayley smiled and nodded. "I feel liberated ever since I told Elijah what I felt last night. He had his last chance to tell me that he loves me and he didn't. I don't think he ever did." "Hayley, if there is one thing that you must know about Elijah is that he is hungry for family as Nik is hungry for power and authority. The minute he saw you pregnant with that child, he knew you would bless our family and you would be the key to reuniting us all. You have no idea how much Elijah loves that, for us to be a family, happy together. He fell in love with the idea of you…and the child. He saw the way Niklaus was treating you and he offered to treat you with the care Nik should have, because he wanted to be blessed with something like this, as his brother has been. I think this is where this all started from."

"I have to hand it to you that you do know your brothers, Rebekah." Hayley commented with a smile on her face. "Yes, I do. And what about Nik?" she asked her. "What about him?" The color on Hayley's face changed when she spoke of Klaus. "How would you have been around Nik if he were your anchor during the pregnancy and not Elijah?" Hayley gently shook her head with a roll of her eyes. "I know where you are going with this, Rebekah…and I am not comfortable answering that." "Why not? It is just an innocent question." Rebekah pouted. "Because when it comes to Klaus…I don't have that many answers. He has started to confuse me a whole lot. Sometimes, I am so mad at him, the other times I can't help but smile at him and he supports me one moment, then fights my decisions the next…he is so frustrating!" Rebekah smirked. "You see, darling that is what I had to endure for years with Nik."

"Do you get him?" Hayley finally asked her and Rebekah smirked, as she knew the wolf girl would want to talk about Klaus some more. "Sometimes…but I have a feeling that you get him even more. You tolerate him the way no woman has ever been able to tolerate him and I think he admires that about you, Hayley. That is why he sticks around…that is why he fights you to keep you safe and cared for. He cares about you, the way you can't possibly imagine. He told me he doesn't trust Jackson." "Klaus doesn't trust anyone who might have a connection with his daughter. I have to constantly remind him that she is my daughter too, not just his. I carried her in my womb for nine months for God's sake!" Hayley exclaimed and frowned as she shook her head in amazement at how much she needed to say about this man. "Either way, I think he has done a very good job so far of keeping his, what should we call it, enthusiasm about this marriage." Rebekah said, sarcastically, which made Hayley laugh. "I am sure that he is making a great effort as to not rip Jackson's head off like he promised he will."

"Why would he do that?" "He warned him that if he caught him playing me or tricking me in any sort of way, he would deposit his head at the end of a spike and set it in his grandmother's garden." "Well, I have to hand it to Nik that he knows pretty well how to come up with certain threats." Hayley smiled at her and whispered, "Well, Jackson is dealing with the wolves and…I just feel like taking a long and warm shower. Thanks for the girl talk, Rebekah." "Anytime, wolf girl." Rebekah replied and gave her a hug before she watched Hayley disappear into the bathroom. "You can come out now! I know you've been listening in!" Rebekah called out and Klaus made his appearance in the doorway in a flash, with his hands clasped behind his back.

"What the bloody hell is wrong with you? She could have easily smelled you out, had you not been careful. You came to me and asked me for help and this is the trust I receive from you?" "Rebekah, I asked you to talk to her for me but you have been posing my questions to which her answers I would prefer not to hear." "I am sure that you were enjoying listening to how she called her relationship with Elijah superficial." She could see a smile trying to cross his face but he immediately banned it from happening, as he was showing too much pride. "I am doing this to retrieve the army which should rightfully be mine, Rebekah, don't you forget that." "Of course I know that, Nik. You never combine business with pleasure." She smirked as she saw his mouth part a little. "Excuse me." He mumbled before leaving the room. "The bloody wolf can't handle it." Rebekah shook her head with a smile.

The day when they would be starting the training had arrived and the werewolves were all gathered, forming a group, waiting for instructions from Jackson. "I suppose you all need time to think about what you've gotten yourselves into. This is a battle of life and death against two powerful witches, who happen to be the siblings of Klaus Mikaelson. To protect our home, we need to destroy the enemy!" Jackson called out to them. There was a moment of silence which followed by a small clap from the background. Jackson turned around to see Klaus standing there, with a smirk on his face. "Quite the speech, lad, but not one which I find very well developed. Add a touch of bravery and it might do." "What the hell do you know about bravery?" Jackson suddenly asked and approached him.

"There is no denial that you are somehow filled with courage having the nerve to speak to me like that. Watch your mouth, your majesty, or you will find it removed first thing tomorrow morning!" Klaus growled at him. Jackson took another step forward and his eyes glowed yellow, making Klaus find him even more amusing. "You believe you are intimidating? Let me show you what intimidating really means!" Klaus yelled out and grabbed Jackson's throat and pushed him against the wall. "KLAUS!" Hayley called out from the balcony and she immediately rushed downstairs with her hair tied in a braid, pulling Klaus off of Jackson, as the werewolves were angrily surrounding them. "Let him go, Klaus. What the hell are you doing?" Hayley eyed him angrily, as Klaus kept his mouth parted and anger washed over his face as he watched the wolves stand beside Jackson at that point. "You too. Join them." He growled at Hayley and before she could stop him, he was gone.

"Jack, are you okay?" Hayley asked, stepping over to him and touching his neck. The wolf smiled and shook his head. "No need to be worried. That guy doesn't have the guts to kill me. But thank you for worrying for me." "Jack, you are my husband. Of course I worry for you." He smiled down at her and was prepared to bend down and kiss her, when she pulled away, making a gap between them. "What's wrong?" Jackson asked as the werewolves had already scattered. "I just need some time." "You were okay with it yesterday. You kissed me, Hayley." "I know I did. I just…I need time." She said once more. "Of course. I won't push you. But I need to know that this is where you want our relationship heading. Do you want us to eventually be…romantic?" He was looking at her desperately and Hayley could barely whisper, "I told you I need some time…and I will figure it out eventually, I promise you. For now, we stick to the plan and we see to it that we are all prepared to fight and protect Hope."

"Of course. I won't look past the reason why we got married in the first place, even though you said…" "I know what I said last night, Jackson and I meant it when I said that I can be happy with you, because, you're like me. We are wolves. I feel comfortable around wolves, around my family. I feel comfortable and safe with you, and that is what I need right now. But I can't just jump into something I am not sure I am ready for. I'm sorry if this is now what you wanted to hear…" "But it's fine." Jackson insisted and cupped her face, as Hayley took a deep breath and pulled back. "I'll just go and speak to Klaus about this. I am sorry if he hurt you in any way." "You are the only person who can possibly hurt me, Hayley." "Okay." She whispered before heading back upstairs.

She knew that she would find him messed up and drowning himself in alcohol. "Klaus!" she called out to him but he wouldn't answer her. "Klaus!" Hayley snapped at him louder and went forward, grabbing his glass of vodka and throwing it to the wall, making it smash to pieces. Klaus grabbed her hands in anger and pinned her against the wall. "What was that for?" "That was payback for your little show down there. What the hell is going on with you? You do realize that we need those wolves to fight with us, do you not? They are my family and you are making yourself look like the enemy." "Fighting for your husband already now, are we?" Klaus asked her with a smirk. "You're a jerk!" Hayley yelled out and pushed him away from her, as she hissed, "You don't get to manage anyone at the compound!"

"This is my house and I will do as I please, little wolf!" "Then why did you ask me and Jackson to move in here if this is how you are going to act towards us?" "Because he lacks self-esteem!" someone called out from behind and Klaus and Hayley both turned around to find Elijah, standing there, with his hands in his pockets and in his regular suit. "Ah, if it isn't the knight in shining armor, the warrior stag, the noble prince…" Klaus started but Elijah cut him off, "Niklaus, I would prefer it if you spare me the theatrics. I came here to speak to Hayley." Elijah whispered and looked towards her as she rolled her eyes. Rebekah was waiting at the door and listening in on what was going on. "Then, why don't I leave you two at it? Perhaps you will find a way to put her on your white horse so you can dance into the sunset together." He commented grumpily as he headed out of the room. Rebekah grabbed him at that moment and looked at him angrily. "What do you want?" "You do know that was a major setback, don't you?" "You find a better way to deal with someone like her, sister. She is frustrating and impossible." Klaus said and pushed her aside as he scrambled to his art studio, slamming the door shut.

"What are you doing here, Elijah?" "I believe that we left things a bit off the last time we have seen one another and I want to make it right." Elijah told her and stepped over to her. "Elijah, you had your chance and you wasted it. I am very sorry but I am married now. Nothing you say is going to change that." Elijah stared at her for a moment and whispered, "One time, I told you that you have a choice, that you will always have a choice." "I know. I remember." "If you had a choice now…would it be me?" Hayley looked at him for a moment and whispered, "Elijah, I don't think so. I think what we had, is to remain in the past. It's best for everyone that way and I feel…liberated."

"Liberated?" Elijah asked, surprised. "Yes. Look, I really don't need this anymore. We had our fun, but…I really don't think that we would have gone further in our relationship even if Jackson and I hadn't gotten married. You need to accept that and move on. This is what I want to do and what I feel like doing. I want to move on." Before Elijah could respond, the door opened and Klaus stepped back inside, making Hayley roll her eyes at him. "I think the Queen has spoken clearly, brother. You are free to go." Klaus told him with a smirk and pointed to the door. "Very well. If this is what you want, Hayley…I will happily step aside." "Good." She told him as the Original brother left the room and soon, the compound. She met his eyes for a moment, before he picked up his bottle of vodka and left the room.

"Hey, is everything alright?" Rebekah stepped inside the room with a frown on her face. "Ask your brother." Hayley grumbled and picked up the shattered pieces of glass off the floor. "I saw Elijah leave. Is everything okay between you two?" Hayley looked at her for a moment before nodding. "I think we've said all that needed to be said. Thank you, Rebekah." "You should really talk to him…Nik, I mean." The Original sister suggested and Hayley just shook her head. "I am not sure he is in the mood to talk." "Wait for him to cool off. This has been a tiring morning for all of us." "If you say so, Rebekah." Heading upstairs to check on her daughter, Hayley felt a tug in her heart when she remembered the rage with which Klaus was prepared to kill Jackson today. What brought that on?

He was no longer drinking alcohol, as he was staring at the wolves in the compound, from his balcony, when he felt her behind him. "I suppose you are here to speak to me about your pup of a husband." Klaus growled and Hayley scoffed, rolling her eyes at him. "Let me put it this way. Whenever you have a problem, you take it up with me. Stop putting Jackson in a corner. I don't know how long it is going to take you to realize that we are mated for life, Klaus." Hayley told him and he closed his eyes at that comment. He never wished to hear that about her and a man other than himself.

"The wolves need a new leadership." Klaus growled, wanting to change the subject. Hayley went by his side and he glanced at her for a moment, admiring her beautiful face, her hair in the usual braid and she was wearing a cream-colored robe. He smirked as he looked at her up to down, making a blush creep on her beautiful cheeks. "What are you talking about?" she asked him in a whisper. "I am talking about myself." Hayley sighed and shook her head. "I am not going to discuss this with you." She turned to leave but he grabbed her hand and spun her to him and she landed on his chest, taking her by surprise. "You told me that I should take business up with you, little wolf and that is what I am going. Jackson is not fit to lead this army. I do not trust him that he is going to use it for Hope's sake."

"So, you are doubting his intentions. What else is new? I know you don't trust him but you said you trust me, did you not? Then trust me when I say that he can be trusted." Klaus growled, "Let me make it clear to you that I am the only one who is certain to do what is best for Hope aside from you. You should be able to trust me more than you trust him. Is that going to be a problem?" "Of course not." She whispered for a moment. Klaus looked at her for a moment before cupping her cheek and whispering, "You saw those wolves today, and how they stood by Jackson. They will stand by him no matter what. They could turn against us. They could try to take over the city…Jackson can't wait to get back at me."

"Klaus, he would never do that." Hayley whispered, shocked, but her breathing hitched as she felt his hand slide down slowly towards her neck. "I trust that his feelings for you are sincere, Hayley…but Jackson is much likely to go after power as I am. I need to discipline those wolves, because if they are not fighting with us, they won't be alive to fight at all!" he growled the last part at her, making her looked wide-eyed and in shock. "Goodnight, love." He whispered and did something which caught her completely by surprise. He got closer and placed a small kiss on her forehead, disappearing afterwards.
