Chapter 2 - Desire
"Well, well," Epiphany said sarcastically, "Look what the cat dragged in."
Liz made her way to the nurse's station. "Sorry, my car wouldn't start, and I had to call AAA."
"Uh huh," Epiphany grunted raising her right eyebrow.
"What? I'm never late."
"True, but don't let it happen again." Piph always enjoys teasing her.
Liz tried typing in the same thing three times before she sighed and gave up. Michael has her all turned around and twisted. Her attention went to a delivery man who is approaching with a huge bouquet of roses.
"Hi," he said thrusting his clipboard at her. "Please sign there."
She signed and then checked the card and is surprised when it turns out they are for her. Quickly, she opened the envelope and read it.
"Elizabeth, please forgive me. I know I don't deserve it, but please give me a second chanceāAJ."
Disappointed, she threw the card in the trash and moved the flowers to the break room. Did AJ really think it would be that easy? She walked into one of the on-call rooms, unaware that Michael had followed her and sat on the bed and is surprised when the door crept open.
"Michael."
"Hi, can we talk?"
"Um, sure. I only have a minute." Liz couldn't look away due to his lust filled expression. She nervously fidgeted on the bed as she noticed how his blue shirt made his eyes pop. He looks so handsome.
"I know that what happened last night came out of nowhere, but I really have thought about it and I want to see where it goes." He tried to gauge what she might say, but Liz's expression didn't change.
"Michael, there are so many reasons why this wouldn't and shouldn't work."
"Yeah, I know, but I guess I just don't care. Life is just way too short to blow a chance at a good thing."
"Have you thought about the fact that I have two kids and I'm ten years older than you?"
"No," he said taken aback. "Should any of that matter?"
She stared at him blankly not knowing what to say. The fact that he didn't run away screaming is overwhelming her.
Ignoring her surprise, he tugged her to her feet and then moved her against his chest without giving her a second to react before attacking her succulent lips. She moaned and hungrily kissed him back until they finally came up for air. Michael is unable to hide his smile. She's so beautiful. He lightly rubbed his face against hers, touching, but not touching her as he teased her. Suddenly, the door flung open and Epiphany is standing there.
She stared for a second as they pulled apart and said, "Break over, nurse Webber," and then closed the door.
"I have to go. I'll come by later," she said before rushing out the room back to the nurse's station.
"I'll pretend I didn't see that," Epiphany said scowling.
"Honestly, I have no idea how that happened."
Epiphany attention fixed on her. "Really, that's your story?"
Liz smiled. "Yes, that is my story and I'm sticking to it."
"Dear lord, the people in this hospital are sex crazy and don't use the sense God gave them."
Liz chuckled and then went to deliver a chart.

AJ knocked on Michael's office door which is quickly opened.
"May I come in?"
"Yes, of course."
"Are we okay?"
Michael stared at his dad trying to figure out how he is going to approach this.
"I really don't like what you did to Elizabeth, but I still want to work with you and learn as much as I can."
AJ was relieved. "I will do my best to help you do that."
"There is one condition though."
"Son, I'll do anything."
"I don't want to discuss Elizabeth with you."
"Ok. I get it. Done. Meet me in the conference room in five."
AJ smiled as he left. One down, and one to go. He just hopes Elizabeth liked the flowers.

Liz stared at her food and then pushed it around before dropping her fork. She couldn't get Michael off her mind. Thank God the kids are away for the summer. It gives her time to sort out her feelings.
Felix grabbed a tray and notice that Liz is deep in thought. "I know that look," he said moving towards her table. "Is this seat taken?"
"Um, no." She pointed to the chair. "Please, sit down."
"What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?"
"Nothing. Why do you ask?"
"Child, please, you think I was born yesterday or something?"
Felix always made her laugh.
She tried to suppress a giggle and then said, "How did you know?"
"It's written all over your face."
"It's that obvious?"
"Yes, and you are going to tell me who has got you all wound up and it better not be AJ after all that crap he pulled."
"No, it's not. I'm just not ready to tell you who it is."
Felix rolled his eyes. "You really think that I won't find out?"
Liz laughed. "Well, maybe you will eventually, but you won't hear it from these lips."
Felix chuckled. "Girl, it must be really wrong if you're not willing to spill it."
"You can tell all that from one stare?"
"I'm just that good."
"Thank you, Felix," she said patting his hand.
"For what?"
"I really needed a good laugh."
"I'm serious. I will find out." He dug into his salad.
Liz smiled. She is going to keep this a secret if it was the last thing she does.

Elizabeth strode towards Michael's door and stood outside for a minute. While part of her recognizes that she should just march right in there and put an end to whatever is going on, she still is hesitant. If Carly ever finds out, she'll probably put a hit on her, but it had been a long time since she had felt this alive. What does that mean? Her teeth gripped her bottom lip as she tentatively knocked on the door.
