You know...It's pretty hard to write a mute OC. Yeah my friends warned me about how awkward most of her dialogues would be but what did I do? I paid them no mind! Now I have dialogues as awkward as Ed's pick-up lines (Gosh damnit!).
Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Prologue II: This reality
"The milk is ready!" Emily said cheerfully. She took the warm milk away from the stove and admired her beautiful handiwork. Emily wasn't a very talented woman, but if there was one thing she was proud of, it would definitely be her cooking abilities. She was a baker for a reason after all.
After setting all six cheese sandwiches on the table, the woman looked at the hallway impatiently. "Air-san? Are you still not ready?"
"..."
Dead silence and the occasional flapping of pigeons was the only response Emily received. The woman sweat dropped at the silence. "Oh, right... Mute people can't speak."
The awkward silence continued...
"Well then, I will wait here." She mumbled, uncomfortable with the idea of checking on Aircana and walking in when she was still half naked. She was an adult woman, but it would be awkward for her guest. "If you need anything please tell me- I mean knock on the door loudly so I can help you!"
"..." Silence ensued like a Charlie Chaplin movie...
Why wasn't she surprised?
Sighing, Emily decided to sit down and wait for her strange guest. She picked up one of her sandwiches and glanced at the hallway. Flavoring the simple meal while she waited was a good way to pass the time, not that this delicious way of passing tima was very entertaining...
Without even noticing, Emily found herself lost in thoughts. Nothing really philosophic, just simple thoughts such as 'Why was Aircana taking so long to change?' and 'This sandwich would be better with orange juice...' or even 'Poor girl is so pale'. These thoughts stopped coming as soon as she finished her bread. Without anything to distract herself with , the woman crossed her legs and tried to unravel the puzzle her guest seemed to be.
Her guest clothes and strange rock-notebook-thing seemed really modern like the top stuff from Central. But if she was from Central wouldn't she be like, in Central..? Perhaps she was lost? But how could she get out of her city without knowing? Wouldn't she notice the landscape changes? Yeah she would... So she probably wasn't lost.
Maybe she was travelling? If that was the case, then why was someone so young travelling alone and bare foot? Where was her luggage? Where were her parents? D-Did she even have parents at all?
Knock, knock.
Emily blinked at how close the knocks were and finally noticed a very smug-looking guest wearing the strange matchup of her old pants and the yellow hoodie of James, her previous guest. Emily eyed the hoodie sadly, even though she and James weren't very close, sometimes she missed the strange boy...
Emily felt a small tug on her sleeve that successfully transferred her attention back to her guest. Said guest was already shaking her rock-notebook-thing around Emily face, trying to make her read the message.
The baker read, [Dear Emily. Am I adorable or am I adorable?] and resisted the urge to snort. She had seen far more adorable kids playing around, like Winry, James, the Elric brothers, the Lusiana sisters and so on. But there was no reason to destroy the girl's happiness. "You really look better without all the mud. Beautiful even." She looked at the yellow oversized sweater, dangerously close from slipping of her shoulders and adjusted it back. "These clothes seem a little oversized though. Do you want me to pick another one dear?"
Aircana scoffed, and spun around like a beyblade, causing the oversized brown sweater to slip down her shoulders, revealing an unhealthy tone of white skin, and hiding her hands inside a too-long sleeve. Picking her phone from her faded green cotton pants, Aircana rolled up a little of her sleeve and typed a quick, [Don't worry Emily, I love oversized stuff! It's like constantly being hugged by a million of fluffy bears].
"Oh. Great." Emily replied, guessing by her cheerfulness this was something good and not extremely painful. She saw how her guest's eyes kept landing on the food and smiled. "Well then, now that you're comfortable I see no problem in eating."
Aircana nodded excitedly and rushed up to the table, sitting on the closest chair, she snatched her cellphone's keyboard and placed the phone close to Emily's chair. Emily raised an eyebrow at the message [It's really anti hygienic to eat and write at the same time, so I will communicate by body language for the breakfast. Is that ok with you Emi?].
"It's okay..." The green-eyed woman said, sweat dropping at her guest's hunger. Aircana was already halfway through eating one cheese sandwich and unfortunately it seemed like she was only starting.
Air gave a barely perceptible nod to show that she had listened but didn't send any other sign to initiate a conversation. It may have been rude but you couldn't really blame her, every hungry girl would do the same if they saw so much godly quality food resting right in front of them.
The girl beamed at each bite, appreciating the way the bread cracked every time she took a bite. In no time, she ate four of the sandwiches and hesitantly took a small sip of her honey milk, more to test the taste than anything really, the warm liquid sliding gently down her throat. Wow that was odly good! Once she found a way to go home, the first think she would do will be introduce honey with milk to her older sister.
A few sips later, the girl was already drowning inside her sweet milk mug. "Air-san," Emily started awkwardly, successfully making Air's eyes snap in her direction. The moment she locked eyes with Emily, Aircana was able to disguise a few strange emotions inside her green eyes, like hope, fright, and amusement. The girl frowned, those weren't usual emotions for a breakfast.
"So..." Emily continued breaking Aircana's line of thoughts and asking the last thing running through Aircana's head. "You're homeless, aren't you?"
Aircana froze in the middle of her banquet, chocking and making a small piece of bread fly across the room. After giving her hostess an incredulous look she shook her head. Heck no lady!
"Oh." Emily blinked, curiosity and worry and something akin to disappointment suddenly replacing her other emotions. "Then why were you begging for food?"
The curly-haired girl twisted her face into a pained look and took a deep breath, holding in all the air. This made her look a lot thinner, almost like a skeleton. She then quickly pointed at her half-eaten sandwich and mimicked eating, the moment she finished her imaginary bread, she let her air circle her lungs again and thus look normal and happy again.
Emily blinked. First she was confused but then she understood. "Of course you were hungry!" Emily said tiredly. "But why were you walking around barefoot and in the cold?"
Aircana inwardly frowned, she had a few good theories but it would be a little hard to explain this without her phone... Oh well, she would manage.
Probably...
The girl placed two fingers on the table and started tapping them, mimicking a man walking. After this she turned her other hand into another human finger and laid it on the table peacefully. Then, she made her improvised 'walking' fingers touch the peaceful finger that was just chilling on the table, transforming the peaceful fingers into a tight fist that resembled a rock. She then picked her rock-hand and slowly threw the rock over the two 'walking' fingers, said walking fingers walked a few centimeters and carefully placed the rock-hand over an empty plate. When done, the girl waved her arms and pointed at the rock dramatically, a proud smile on her face.
Emily just blinked, a little muddled by the performance. "What...?"
Aircana pouted, she didn't know how else to interpret this! At least not without getting out of her chair. She looked at her phone and sighed. Guess she would have to explain it the normal way. Determined, the girl doubled her eating speed, almost instantaneously killing her fourth bread. When done, she rubbed her hands, brushing off all the crumbs and cleaned them in a napkin. Then she started typing on her cellphone.[I am not sure but I got the feeling someone kidnapped me].
Emily eyes widened. "Kidnapped you?!"
The pale girl nodded, it would explain why she was in a completely new landscape. Though that would also make them the worst kidnapper of history. I mean who the hell lets their victim wandering around without vigilance? She was mute, for god's sake, not paraplegic!
"That's terrible!" Emily continued, horrified. "Why would anyone do this to you?"
Yeah... It was kind of horrible now that she thought about it...
The girl's eyes widened. Oh shit! Her parents must've been worried sick! She needed to search where she was and go back home as soon as possible! Hopefully they wouldn't notice she had been kidnapped.
Hum... talking about kidnappings, Emily had raised a good question... Sure a lot of people hated her but no one hated her enough for a kidnap, right?
Aircana frowned, okay wrong... Her Geography teacher, Mister Max and her classmate Ronaldo, would totally pay someone to send her as far away as possible but fortunately they didn't have enough money for a kidnapping, yup, even a kidnap as unprofessional as this one. Oh there was also this girl from the Starbucks shop that wanted her to "Get hit by a jukebox"... Judging by her expensive hat, the girl had more than enough money to buy all the shining Pokémon in the country! Unfortunately though, she seemed like the kind of girl who would spend her money on a professional murderer rather than an extremely amateur kidnapper...
"Does any of your friends love you? Or eyed you weirdly," Emily offered, pondering about this subject. "Like in an overprotective and possessive way?"
The black-eyed girl shook her head sadly. She might be extremely fabulous and total waifu material but unfortunately no one seemed to find her attractive.
The woman started tapping her finger on the table. If not for love or lust than maybe money...? Aircana's sleeve was kind of bloody when she knocked on the door so maybe she was being held hostage? Not very likely...Holding someone hostage can be quite the difficult task, only someone very rich was worth the trouble and for some reason it was pretty hard to imagine thise girl in a pile of money... Oh well, better ask anyway. "Are you related to any famous or rich person?"
Aircana shook her head again, hoping the interrogation finished fast. There was only so long a girl could shake her head without having a neck ache.
Emily was running out of ideas. "Related to any criminal?"
Yup, the girl's neck was already starting to hurt from all her negative answers.
"Hm..." Emily said, trying to find more reasons for a random kidnap. If the girl wasn't rich, a criminal, popular or even loved (wow that sounded sad) then why even bother to kidnap her? Was it to gain information?
She looked at the girl up and down, mentally shaking her head. Definitely no .What kind of information could the poor girl even have? Weapons than? The woman frowned, never, someone so young wouldn't be able to build a destructive weapon.
Yet even with all this logic, her eyes couldn't help but rest upon Aircana's phone. Emily deepened her frown, true, the Rock-notebook-thing seemed harmless but appearances could be deceiving, extremely so. Her neighbor already showed how a pretty looking ring could be as destructive as a bomb, and since she didn't know anything about the little rock notebook thing, it could very well be a powerful weapon too.
Aircana looked at woman and sighed. She didn't needed to be a genius to know Emily was overthinking the whole kidnap business...Not that she minded much, knowing how she got here was important. It just wasn't really something Emily should be bothered about, she already did more than enough.
The brownish-eyed girl tapped Emily's shoulder a few times and watched as the kind woman slowly stopped thinking and went back to reality. "Oh sorry, I was overthinking…" She eyed the phone and frowned. "I know it has nothing to do with the subject, but could you please tell me what this, this... Rock-notebook-thing is? "
Aircana blinked, she followed Emily line of vision and raised both her eyebrows. She shook the phone watching as the woman's eyes followed her movement. Just to make sure Aircana pointed at the phone, hoping with all of her heart that Emily wasn't referring to the worldwide famous cellphone as a 'Rock-notebook-thing'.
But lady, luck wasn't on Aircana's side today. Instead of shaking her head Emily nodded at the phone, her green eyes shining with honest curiosity and maybe even fright.
Fright. The tanned woman was frightened by a cellphone! And it wasn't even a block hard Nokia. It was just a fragile and old Sony phone! Frowning she typed a message and shoved it in the housewife's face [This is a Cellphone sweetheart], if you lived in the 21th century you would know about it, you damn medieval princess.
'Hum, she could easily pass out as a Disney princess.' A small part of her brain pointed out. Aircana smirked at this, princess Emily... Ha even the name fit!
"Cerphone?" Emily asked unsure. Her accent made the double 'L's sound like an 'R'.
Aircana typed the message [Kinda] making the woman narrow her eyes in suspicion. The girl sweat dropped, quickly adding another message[If you want, you can give it a look. After all what's mine is yours, baby]. She wanted to add the winky face really badly, but she doubted Emily would understand that a ';3' was the same as a winky face.
The curious lady carefully picked the device, her face full of concentration and badly hidden suspicion. Aircana resisted the urge to facepalm when the woman stared scanning the device, flipping it around and looking for anything that would be considered even remotely dangerous.
'I know princesses are supposed to be outdated, but my god lady! Didn't anyone tell you that cellphones with toxic keyboards and hidden shotguns are banned?' Aircana thought sarcastically, watching with amusement as the pretty woman shakily touched the device. The moment her finger touched the scream the digital keyboard popped up almost instantly making the tanned woman gasp. Emily hesitantly touched the keyboards and widened her eyes when the letter [e] popped on the screen. "I have never seen such an advanced device before..." She slowly typed [mily]after the [e] and softened her frown. "Did you make this?"
Aircana snorted. She couldn't even make those damn 'X' math exercises, how the hell was she supposed to build a Cellphone?
"Oh you purchased it then?"
Aircana nodded. Watching as the grown up woman clicked random buttons and eventually landed on the plain black home menu. Hum...She really should replace her black menu with some cool Harry Potter wallpaper...
"Where did you buy this? What was the price?"
The girl extended her hand silently, asking for the phone. Emily looked at the Cellphone and quickly give it to her guest. [Almost any shop have cellphones. Honestly I am surprised you never saw one before princess]. Emily raised an eyebrow at the nickname but kept reading [As for the price, it really depends. It could be around 100 dollars to 3000 dollars].
"Dollars?"
Aircana frowned, her lack of knowledge was starting to fade from amusing to just plain unnatural. [Yeah, as in clams, bucks, the green ones, pounds, yens, reais, 'the war trigger', the 'evil in this world' ...There are quite a lot of names for it...]
Emily mirrored her frown, frustration sparkling in her eyes. "I don't think I get it. What are you talking about?"
Aircana shifted in her chair, a bad feeling forming in the pit of her stomach, she quickly typed [Money. I was talking about Money] and looked expectantly at her hostess.
"Nothing you said can be identified as money," the woman said, confused and suspicious.
Aircana's bad feeling grew stronger, if nothing she said could be identified as money then something was clearly wrong...
"I only know about sens."
Yeah, definitely wrong. This currency was all wrong. Whatever anime she entered wasn't like Lucky Star: a cute real world replica with moe. It was a whole different world, with a whole different culture and a different currency, probably full with overpowered people that could kill her with the mere lift of a finger... Gulping Aircana showed her hostess the message [Emily dear, where are we?].
"We are currently in Resembool."
Aircana blinked, a small bit of hope making its way to her eyes. 'Raise the balls?' Why was this name so familiar? She didn't remember any anime mentioning this name before nor had her professor ever said such a ridiculous city in the middle of class. Aircana frowned, or had he? The girl wasn't sure. Damn! If only she had picked Mathematics instead of Geography as the class to sleep in, she wouldn't be having this problem. Sighing, the girl typed on her phone keyboard [Where is 'Raise the balls' located?].
"Resembool dear..." The woman said slowly, a small frown covering her beautiful features. "Please respect the city name."
[Okay then, where in the name of Hades is Resembool located?]
Emily's frown deepened, this girl was definitely a foreigner. If her strange features and cellphone thing wasn't enough to prove it, then her lack of common knowledge definitely was. "Resembool is in the east of Amestris."
Aircana just tilted her head, Amestris, Amestris... She had never heard of Amestris before, yet something in the back if her mind seemed to scream 'It's obvious' over and over again... It was frustrating and honestly a little ridiculous. She wasn't that bad in geography, she should have been able to remember a goddamn country!
'You're inside an anime, the countries are different now. This is a brand new reality.' The rational part of her brain remembered.
Aircana froze at this thought. If that was true then her theory about being in a fictional world where people could easily kill her was also true...
For some reason that didn't seemed very appealing...
Before freaking out, Aircana needed to be sure. From all she knew Amestris could just be one of the hundreds of small countries she wasn't familiar with [Do you have any world map you can show me, Princess? I want to see if I can locate my house].
"Of course." The pretty woman said as she looked at the hallway uneasily. "I will go look for it... Meanwhile you can just stay here? I wouldn't like you to get lost." It may have sounded like advice but the order was clear 'Don't leave this table'. Aircana nodded and with that said, Emily got up and disappeared in the hallway.
A few moments later, Emily came back with an old ripped page, covered by coffee stains and full of random doodles. Emily gave her guest a look, trying to see if she had any other motives besides curiosity to want a map. In the end, Emily handed her the map. "It's a little old, but it's the only one I have."
[Thanks] the girl typed, receiving a small smile from her host. Aircana looked at the map and started analyzing the strange place... The result made her want to punch something...
Aircana didn't know what she was expecting, but it definitely wasn't this. There was no sea, like not even a lake in the whole damn map and every single city was linked by ...train roads...? Or something, plus the five major locations were literally named, 'East, Lest, North, South and Central...'
It was kind of sad. Not only the uncreative names but also the lack of sea. To take the sea away from her was like taking a small piece of her soul and throwing inside pac-man mouth.
She looked at the borders of the old map trying to spot at least one blue mark that screamed 'Sea' , but unfortunately she only found the Map 's basic information like who drew this map and the date it was made.
Aircana blinked, was it just her or did this map exist since 1902? She looked at the date again and widened her eyes.
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit-
'Calm down this might just be an old map,' the logical part of her brain said, calming her down. The girl looked at her patient hostess and typed a quick: "Hey what year are we again?"
The tanned woman seemed confused by this question. "1914."
'Oh shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!'
This was bad, very bad! Not only was she in another world she was also in the past. A place without internet, rechargers, cinema, and candy that were terrible for your health! Anime graphics was cool but she didn't sign for this, ahe want to go home!
The girl froze, a horrible question sticking to her brain 'Go home...' How was she supposed to go home? Buying a train ticket definitely wouldn't be enough.
No, not even a ticket for the fastest plane in the world would be enough. She wasn't traveling some miles, she needed to literally cross worlds and dimensions to go home.
And that wouldn't happen anytime.
She wasn't going home anytime soon.
The realization hit her like a truck. She didn't have a home here, she didn't have an identity and more importantly she didn't have a family.
She was alone in a strange world.
'Emily is right,' Aircana thought bitterly. 'Right now, I am homeless...'
Something wet fell on her oversized hoodie taking the warmth away. Aircana didn't mind, why would she? A wet hoodie was nothing compared to the fact she lost everything, everyone she knew would be waiting endlessly for a girl that couldn't come back.
Would her friends think she died? Probably… Would they mind? Aircana smirked, though it seemed a little unstable. 'Not really. Most of them would just say 'What a tragedy' and forget the next day' her unstable smirk visibly crumbling. 'Ana Julia would definitely cry a river though...'
"Are you crying...?" A worried voice asked.
But the girl wasn't really paying attention. She looked at nothing in particular and thought about her parents. They would be worried, definitely worried. They were too overprotective, thinking just because she couldn't talk she couldn't defend herself...
"You are indeed crying! Why are you crying?!" Emily's voice was becoming higher and higher, making Aircana blink and momentarily pause her self-pity. After processing her host's words, the girl slowly touched her cheeks, feeling a wet substance trickle down. She tried wiping them away, but the tears kept falling down in an unnatural speed, like a small waterfall.
'Like a comic anime,' she thought, feeling a bitter smile make its way on her face. It was so stupid! Even though she was as good as a lost kid in this world a small part of her, that silly and stupid part every kid had, she couldn't help but feel intrigued by this strange reality. Eager to explore this world and go on an adventure, creating her own story.
The green eyed woman awkwardly shook her guest's shoulder, it has been a while since Emily had to comfort another human. "Air-san?" She tried, getting a little creeped out by the small smile the girl was wearing. Was she sad or happy? Mentally sighing, Emily tried to calm Aircana using the gentlest voice she could muster. "Please dear, calm down. I won't be able to help you if you keep crying."
That seemed to do the trick.
The girl with the oversized hoodie sniffed a little but her tears were slowly vanishing. When the waterfall stopped, Aircana picked up her glasses stained with tears and slowly used her shirt to clean them. When done, she hesitantly wrote on her phone[HAVE YOu ever heard abouT NOrtH AMErica?] there were a few more caps locks than necessary, probably resulted from her shaking hands but Emily didn't comment. "Never heard about it dear." The woman said softly, as if raising her voice might break the girl.
Aircana mentally screamed. She felt more tears threatening to escape but she held them back. She was not going to cry again, if she kept crying Emily would freak out.
"Is this Armericah the name of your country?" She asked with an extremely tick accent, sticking in a few more 'R's then necessary.
Aicana just shook her head sadly, and slowly wrote on her phone [North America isn't a country. It's a continent].
"A-a whole continent?!" She gave her a shocked look. "How come I never heard about it before?"
The girl looked down. [It's a far away continent].
"Still, a continent isn't something easily missed. Especially a country with enough technology to make cerphones."
The brownish-eyed girl looked at the world map and typed inanimately, [Its' a really, really far away continent...]. Seeing the worried and somehow determined face of her host, Aircana sighed. [Thanks, but I don't think you can help me].
"Of course I can." Emily said, frowning. She may be a common baker but she wasn't useless. She had contacts, lots of contacts. "I have an old friend that owns a map store, if this Armericah really is a continent then he will definitely know where it is."
Aircana shifted uncomfortably in her seat. [It's not that simple].
"How so?" The woman asked, her gentle tone slowly getting impatient.
The girl avoided her host's gaze and nervously started playing with the collar of her hoodie. She didn't want to lie to Emily but telling she was from another dimension didn't seem like the best thing to do. Breaking the news about the existence of multiplied dimensions would most likely lead into questions about her 'reality', and this would trigger a butterfly effect that could mess with Emily's timeline or something...
Aircana frowned . She wasn't exactly sure how it worked since she wasn't interested about the subject, but the few information she managed to grasp from Ana Julia's nonstop rambling was enough to know it was bad to mess with timelines and while the name was ridiculous, the butterfly effect was a very serious matter.
"Aircana," Emily pressured, her voice sounding like a scolding mother. "Answer the question."
The girl growled silently and crossed her arms, it didn't matter if she had a good reason for staying silent, being scowled always made her feel like an ungrateful brat.
"Aircana Vandez," she repeated. Ouch, you know someone is serious when they use the full name card.
Shivering slightly by the stern glare Emily was sending her way, Aircana decided to show another message without actually answering her hostess' question. [I am sorry to inform you but your friend probably doesn't know North America].
Emily raised her eyebrow. "So you are saying this Armericah is somewhere not even a map boy would know?"
Aircana nodded. [That's exactly what I am trying to say my dear Emi, but don't feel bad, there is a valid reason for me to not trust your maps].
Emily looked at Aircana curiously and frowned. "What reason?"
[Can't say].
Emily glared. Wow she could be pretty scary when she wanted. "Why not?"
The curly-haired girl glared right back, she may be trembling in her boots but she wasn't going down so easily. Like heck no! She picked her phone and slammed the message [Cause my best friend told me is better NOT to say and I trust my friend's judgment].
Emily's glare was now so damn stern it made Aircana wish for cover, she really, really hoped this conversation was going to end soon. "It's good that you respect your friend's wishes, but I don't see how keeping this information is helping anyone!"
The [I don't know either] message was wrote before she even registered the words in her brain. God curse her reflexes, why couldn't she think when she was afraid?
It may be her imagination, but Aircana swore when Emily finished reading her message she growled and fire erupted from the background making her look extremely evil.
The girl with curly hair quickly took her phone and jumped out of the chair, using incredible speed to hide behind the nearest door. It didn't matter if Emily was a kind woman with a lot of reasons to be angry at her. Right now, Air just wanted to take cover and hide like the little coward she was.
Aircana held the flat door, giving her a hideout and trembled like a leaf. Butterfly effect be damned if Emily ran after her, she could very well write her whole life story to the scary woman!
Emily gave her door a hard look but ended up softening her glare. "Aircana." The door flinched, making the tanned woman's glare finally fade away. "Sorry, that was uncalled for." She quietly walked to the door, trying not to scare her guest any further and sighed tiredly. "It's just frustrating. I may have a lot of contacts but if you don't tell me anything I won't be able to help you."
Aircana risked a small peek, her hands still clued tight on the door. When she saw the tired expression marking Emily's features she couldn't help but feel slightly guilty. Ever since she stepped inside the woman's house, she had received nothing but kindness and worry. Honestly it was stupid of her to think Emily would suddenly go out for her blood just because of a refused answer. Sighing, the girl hesitantly got away from her abandoned hideout and looked at her hands in shame.
She was still shaking.
Giving her arm a strong pinch, the girl was relieved to see her trembling hands abruptly stop trembling. Hesitantly, she walked to the woman and wrote a small [I appreciate your concern, but I really don't want to waste your time, you already did more than enough].
"Nonsense. You can't knock on my door on the verge of hypothermia, eat my food like it was the first time you've eaten in days and then claim you suffered from a kidnapping without letting me help you get home." The woman said firmly, she considered yelling some sense in the pale girl's head but refrained. She didn't want the girl to be scared, she wanted the girl to trust her. After all she may be strange and have quite the mood swings, but she seemed like a good girl.
Aircana let a small smile make its way to her face and gently typed [You're a good person Emily. Definitely waifu material].
"Waifu..?"
Aircana was already writing the next text [But unfortunately your kindness won't help me. Sure it makes me feel awesome and special, giving me the strong urge to kidnap you]. Emily raised her eyebrows, seriously hoping she was joking and continued reading, [And give you something in return, but my home is out of your hands, even your connections won't be able to help me].
"You're sure?" Emily said, feeling a little underestimated. "I may have more connections than you think. After all, I am the only baker in all Raisenbool and everyone here needs bread."
Aircana sighed.[I am sure. Neither you or the town could help] . She paused for a moment and added[No one can help me, be it from this town or another more advanced one, even the wisest person would be no help].
Emily frowned, god this girl was dramatic. "Come on, there's gotta be someone in this town that can help you. We have a lot of gifted people! Brilliant scientists, revolutionary mechanics, good librarians and retired travelers!"
Aircana snorted, in a somewhat sarcastic way.[Sorry there, but a mere scientist or traveler won't be enough. I need an all-knowing old man or miracle maker here!]
Emily crossed her arms frustrated, but instead of yelling like Aircana expected her to do, the woman turned her face into a thoughtful expression. "Correct me if I am wrong but did you just say a 'miracle maker?"
Aircana raised her eyebrow, she wanted to sass a little and write [I didn't said anything miss I wrote it, with capital letters and everything.] but she decided to go with the plain and simple [Yes I did] answer.
Emily laughed softly, a very smug smirk breaking her thoughtful expression. "Then I guess you're lucky Air. This baker," she pointed at herself, "just remembered someone that matched your desires!"
Aircana blinked. 'What?'
Emily just smirked at her guest's confusion. "You better get ready cause you're going to take a train."
