A/N: this chapter takes place a week after the first.
Olivia rocked Noah as she tried to put him down for Bed. Usually Lucy was able to have him down when she worked late nights, like she did that day, but this time he was fighting sleep with every fiber of his being. "Come on Noah" Olivia said in a soft but pleading manner "go to bed for mommy, it's almost one in the morning and I have work tomorrow" at this she heard her son give a slight whimper.
Noah was almost three years old now and he was becoming so independent, but he still hated to see his mother gone so often. This is the reason she believed Noah had been fighting sleep recently, for by the time he awakes his mother would be already gone. "Okay Noah, how about if you go to bed right now I promise to take you to the aquarium this weekend"
"The fishies?" the toddler yawned as he rubbed his eyes
"Yes baby, the fishies" Olivia repeated and smiled as she noticed Noah's eyes drift shut as he finally gave in to exhaustion. She gently laid her sleeping son in his bed and waited several moments to ensure he was truly out cold before retreating to her own room for some rest. It did not take nearly as long for the elder woman to drift off to the land of dreams.
Olivia was not one for dreaming. She did not enjoy the twisted realms her mind would create in order to process the demons she fought in the real world. Nightmares were a constant for the older woman, especially since her ordeal with Lewis. This time, however, there was no nightmare or the black void of nothingness she usually experienced with sleep, better to dream of nothing then to be tormented she believed.
This time her mind created visions of scenery and sounds, it took her back more than thirty five years in the past. A time in Olivia's life she had long since tried to move past.
Olivia was a teenager again. She was in her old bedroom with all of her old belongings. She felt lost for a moment, this was an environment she had nearly forgotten. Olivia slowly walked to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror, she saw her face, her eyes, her very outdated hair style, the refection Olivia saw staring back at her was that of her fifteen year old self.
The teenaged Olivia slowly left the bathroom and walked into the small apartment she shared with her mother. The thought of her mother made her heart ache momentarily. She walked to the couch and was not surprised to see the woman passed out drunk. She was about to reach out to her when she heard a knock at the door. The young brunette turned her head in time to see a young boy enter the apartment, no more then 18 years old. The love of her life, or so she thought at the time.
"Tanner?" she whispered. The handsome blonde boy smiled when she said his name as he quickly came to stand in front of her. "It's been so long" she said and was met by his gorgeous blue eyes staring back at her confused
"What do you mean, baby? I saw you last night" he kissed her on the lips and Olivia couldn't help but kiss him back. When they finally separated both were in need of fresh air
"Tanner hold on" Olivia tried
"Come on Liv, you know I can't stop with just a kiss" the young blonde boy said as he once again went to initiate contact, but Olivia pulled away "don't be like this" he pleaded "If its about your mom being in the room, you know she's not going to wake up anytime soon"
"It's not about her its about you" Olivia said strongly, this time completely stepping back from Tanner's embrace. "It's about how you left me alone after you promised to take me away from this place. How you left me pregnant" She almost screamed, her pain from the past starting to reemerge.
"Pregnant!" Tanner said in surprise. As he yelled this Olivia's surroundings blurred together and continued to spin around her until she found herself atop of her old apartment building with Tanner.
She remembered this day. "pregnant, oh no there is no way in hell that its mine, you cheated on me. Your such a whore!" Olivia's past love yelled
"No Tanner, it's yours I promise" Olivia felt the words poring out of her mouth as if she was unable to control them "and I'm going to keep it"
"No your not, not with my help at least" he screamed again "here take this for an abortion or something, but we're done. I'm not ready to be saddled with a baby or a little girl whose heart is still stuck in a romantic fantasy" he said as he grabbed money from his wallet and through it on the floor in front of a stunned Olivia.
Tanner left not long after, leaving a weeping brunette all alone on the roof, alone save for the child growing in her belly. "Oh God, what am I going to do?" she questioned aloud "what will my mom do to me, she's going to kill me". At the thought of her mother the scenery once again began to blur until she was in the kitchen of her old apartment.
"You little slut" her mother yelled as she threw whatever was in reach at her daughter "you cause me nothing but trouble, nothing" the elder woman continued as she chucked a plate at the pregnant teen in front of her.
"but mom" Olivia tried to plead as she dodged the projectile and flinched when she heard it shatter to a million peaces as it struck the floor, much like she feared her heart was doing.
"No you are not keeping that thing, especially not in my house. I will not provide for it and God knows that you can't." her mother continued to yell. This was the moment in time that Olivia knew she had to give the baby up for adoption, she didn't want her child to grow up in a dysfunctional house like she had to.
The teenaged Olivia watched as time flew in front of her, she saw her belly grow and grow until it was time to deliver her baby. The brunette soon found herself laying in a hospital bed with a doctor at her feet telling her to push. She looked around the empty room, there was no one in there save for the doctor and nurse delivering her baby. There was no one to hold her hand, no one to offer words of encouragement. Suddenly Olivia heard a baby screaming "is that my baby?" she questioned
The doctor said yes as he cleaned the child and handed it to her "a beautiful baby girl"
"A girl, I have a little girl" she said as she felt tears stream down her face. Olivia gently held her baby and cooed for her tying to give her comfort. Olivia looked over the child several times drinking her all in, knowing that this would be the first and last time she held the bundle of joy. She saw the child's features and could not help but to think of Tanner, she was the spitting image of her father. Blue eyes and a small wisp of blonde hair.
"Would you like me to take a picture for you?" the nurse asked as she held up a Polaroid camera
"yes please" she said through a sob. She wanted a piece of her daughter, one that will make sure she would always remember what she looked like. The nurse handed Olivia the picture as the doctor went to take the child away. As soon as he had her the baby was wailing again. Reaching out for her mother.
Olivia was left crying as she watched her daughter being taken out of the room. She rocked herself back and forth in an attempt to relieve the emotional pain that was over taking her. She looked down at the Polaroid picture that was beginning to come into focus, she wanted to see her baby girl again but instead of the picture of a small baby and her mother, there was an image of an adult blonde woman, a blond holding a baby of her own. The picture held the likeness of Amanda and Jesse.
Olivia bolted up from bed, her heart racing and tears poring down her face. She felt like she just went head to head with John Cena with how drained she felt. As she tried to calm herself down she heard crying coming from Noah's room. The brunette quickly left her bed to comfort her son.
"Shh, Noah, mommy's here" Olivia said as she lifted the crying toddler in her arms. He instantly laid his head against her shoulder and let out a loud sigh.
"Bad deam, mommy" he said in his childish language
"Don't worry Noah, I'm here and nothing will ever hurt you. I promise. No one will ever take you away" Olivia said, her thoughts going to the crying baby the doctor took from her all those years ago.
"Noah, mommy has a secret, one that no one knows" she whispered, knowing that her son was close to drifting back to sleep "you have a sister, Noah. She's much older than you but she's still your sister" Olivia said as she laid him back in his bed "I gave her up as a baby, but now I think she may have found her way back to me. She doesn't know about us yet, but I think its time I start looking for her" she finished as she rubbed his back.
"Sister" Noah yawned not truly awake. Olivia pursed her lips to keep in a sob. She had missed so much in her daughter life, so many moments, she felt like she had no right to even bring up the past. But Olivia felt a strong desire to Know the truth. She would begin investigating tomorrow.
A/N: hope you guys liked this chapter, I tried to make it emotional but I'm not sure if I was able to display Olivia's distress over the whole situation. She really did want to keep the baby but had no means to actually care for her, and it broke her heart to know that some one else would be called mommy.
