Chapter 2
"C'mon, man. We have to go," Hollow tells rage as he gets ready to leave the gas station, "This was just supposed to be a pit stop."
"Hold on Hollow. I need to find something."
"Rage, we need to go. Now!"
"Stop being so dramatic, Hollow."
"Rage! Look up!" Rage looked up to find a zombie looking him dead in the eyes. Rage screamed his girlish scream and ran to Hollow as fast as he could. Hollow pulls out the handgun they had found in the car and shoots the zombie in the head.
"Get in. We've only got about another hour to London."
About five minutes later, Rage's cell phone rings. "It's Evanz."
"Answer it."
"Hello? Evanz?"
"Rage, look I'm calling to see if everything's alright there. The outbreaks are here too. We need to meet up."
"What's he saying?" Hollow inquires.
"He said we need to meet up."
"Tell him that after we find Fluke and restock at my aunt's cabin we'll head towards Nottingham."
Rage repeats that back to Evanz over the phone.
"Alright, stay safe."
"You too, man." Rage hangs up the phone and listens into the radio. "...some of the key features of being infected are increased strength, a strong smell of rotting flesh, minor motor function failure, and being unable to talk..."
"So, basic zombie, only stronger."
They continue driving for about another twenty minutes when all of a sudden a person walks out in front of them. Hollow slams on brakes and gets out of the car.
"What in the hell do you fucking think you're doin'? Can't you see we're..." His voice trails off as he realizes that the person is not a Human, but a zombie."
Hollow reaches for his gun, but the zombie gets to him before he can pull it out. Seeing this, he knees the zombie in the gut and knocks him to the ground. Hollow pulls out the handgun and prepares to shoot when he realizes who it is. Laying there defeated is golden-haired Fluke, a small bite mark on his leg.
Hollow tries to pull the trigger but can't, Instead he kicks Fluke in the head, leaving him unconscious. Rage walks around the car to see this and stands there, weeping.
"Get back in the car, Rage" Hollow says in a solemn voice. Rage does as Hollow says, bawling as he gets back in. All Rage hears from the car is a single sees Hollow carry Fluke to the back of the car, and put him in the trunk. Hollow gets back in the car, wiping the tears from his eyes, and continues driving.
When they arrive at Hollow's aunt's house, they restock on weapons and ammo. Also, they bury Fluke, deep in the ground. They stay the night and the next morning get ready to go meet Evanz.
"Thanks Aunt Madilyn, I wish we could have stayed longer, but we need to go meet up with Evanz."
"Oh, honey, it was just good seeing you again. Now go, and be safe."
"Are you sure you don't wanna come with us?"
"I'll be fine, dear. Go."
"Fine, but we'll be back. Expect us by tomorrow morning."
"Umm... ma'am. Do you have any crickets? Aylia's getting hungry." Rage said, saying the first thing he'd said since the Fluke incident.
"I actually think I do, they make good fish food," she said, pointing to the lake behind her house. She brings Rage the crickets and he feeds them to Aylia.
"Dear, you could just leave her with me."
Rage shares a look with Hollow; they nod simultaneously, and Rage hands Aylia to Hollow's aunt.
As they prepare to leave, Rage's phone rings. It's Evanz again.
"Hello?" Rage answers.
