Part 2
Betazed.
Since the return of Lady Lwaxana (i.e. daughter of the Fifth House of Betazed, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed, consort of the Crown Prince of Jurai and Federation Ambassador-at-Large), thanks to a revenge scheme against Commodore Ranma Saotome via cloning, the Betazoid telepath was doing her part to make up for lost time, much to chagrin to her daughter.
"Yes, yes, yes," Lwaxana said, as she went over a check list for a party she was preparing for, even as her servants were making additional changes to the hall where the party was to take place. "I definitely want THIS for the festival…"
"Mother, do you think that this is a bit…extravagant?" Counselor Deanna Troi-Riker asked, as she held her toddler Natasha (named after BFF Tasha Yar). She had returned home, with the rest of the "clan", to Betazed in order to help her mother with the party planning, though she suspected that the real reason for her presence was to rein Lxwana's tendencies to overdo things.
"Nonsense!" Lwaxana replied jovially, as she sent her servants away to continue making the preparations. "I simply want to make sure that EVERYONE knows that I, Lwaxana, am back from the dead, in a new, young body, that's all."
"I doubt that anyone would think otherwise," replied Ranma, as he, Captain William Riker (of the USS Titan), Deanna's son Ian (by alien immaculate inception) and Ranma's step-son Barin entered the dining hall wearing fishing equipment. They had spent the morning fishing for the Betazed equivalent of salmon.
"Oh, Ranma!" Lwazana said exasperatedly. "You're tracking mud on the floors!"
"Eh," Ranma replied with a shrug. "That's why I gave you my 'wallet' to hire servants for."
Lwaxana rolled her eyes, which gave Deanna a smile on her face.
"So, how was your fishing trip?" Deanna asked.
"It was a success, sis," Barin replied. "Father showed me how to extend my senses to locate fish in the water."
"And…?"
"Compliments to the chef," Riker said, as he presented a rather large fish.
"Ugh!" Lwaxana said, as she turned towards her personal manservant. "Mr. Hom!"
The large, tall man turned away from his duties of supervising the other servants to face his mistress.
"Can you deal with…this?" Lwaxana asked.
Mr. Hom bows his head slightly, as he motions for another servant to take the fish from Riker…
"And may I have a word with you in private…husband?" Lwaxana asked tersely.
"Uh, oh," Ian said. "I think grandfather is in trouble."
"Settle down," Deanna replied. "Oh, and that reminds me, Ian. I would LOVE to know your choice in schools next term."
"Mother, we been over this," Ian replied, as he and her mother begin to move off, along with the other members of the family. "I want to be an artist…"
"Have fun," Riker grinned, as he walked away…
"Okay, let's have it," Ranma said with a sigh.
"Uh-uh," Lwaxana replied. "You're not going to get me to be the bad wife."
"I'm not, and that was never mind intentions."
"Then why do you do these things?" Lwaxana said. "Ever since I've returned from the DEAD, you've been closed off from me. I thought we have a marriage."
"'Xana, we DO," Ranma replied.
"Then, what is it?"
"'Xana, I gave the eulogy for your funeral."
"And that was a nice one."
"Thanks. Anyway, when we buried you, I came to terms with what we shared, and the fact that I was…Deanna's father, not Ian's. Well, the other Ian, that is."
"So, you're embarrassed by the revelation?"
"'Xana, when is the last time I was embarrassed by anything I've done?" Ranma said. "No, the point is that I had moved on, but with the promise that I would be there for Deanna and the others…"
Pause.
"And then, you've returned."
"And you're not glad that I did?"
"I don't know. Yes, of course. WHATEVER. I'm just still trying to process all this."
"And you wanted to know if what you feel is love or not."
"Yes," Ranma replied, as he took Lwaxana's right-hand into his. "I DO love Lwaxana Troi, daughter of the Fifth House of Betazed, etc. I just want to know if YOU are that same woman that I found comfort with those many years ago."
"Oh, Ranma," Lwaxana said with a sigh. "Why did you not mention this before?"
"I didn't want Deanna to think that I wasn't sure about my feelings towards you," Ranma replied. "She wants to think that we can be a family, after all this time."
"So, can we?"
"I am willing to try, but you will have to work with me, and give me some…time."
"Hmmm," Lwaxana said thoughtfully, as she mulls over her thoughts. "And you're willing to give our marriage a chance to…be real?"
"'Xana, of course."
"Then, let's make it official."
"How?"
A day later, Lwaxana's celebratory return takes on a whole new twist.
"Next time, don't invite me to your wedding, Ranma," said Captain Ryoga Hibiki, as he stood next to the groom as his "Best Man". While it was short notice, he and all other invited guests were in attendance at Ranma and Lwaxana's second wedding.
"Why not?" Ranma said, as he and the others see the blushing bride walking down the aisle, as she was being escorted by Federation Ambassador Jean-Luc Picard to the wedding officiator.
"I don't want to be nude, that's why!"
"Think of it this way, Hibiki," said Captain Ezri Dax-Saotome, commanding officer of the USS Aventine and one of Lwaxana's bridemaid. She had known Lwaxana for years, back when the Trill had been the late Curzon Dax, a Federation Ambassador from the planet Trill.
"At least EVERYONE here is nude."
"That's NOT the point, you know…"
"I find this so-called custom inappropriate," said Seven of Nine, Federation Deputy Security Advisor. "It serves no practical value other than titillation."
"I don't know," said Kes, an Ocampan female from the Delta Quadrant, as she stared at Ranma's nude form. She was one of the few Ocampana to not only master her latent psychic powers, but also extend her own lifespan, thanks to the training she received from both her husband Ranma and mentor Captain Tuvok of Vulcan, commander of the starship USS Voyager.
"Our husband certainly has a fine form to present to all," said Amanda Q, an omnipotent being, born human to two members of the Q Continuum.
"Stop drooling," replied Colonial Kira Nerys, who was set to join the Bajoran Assembly as a clergy laywoman. According to the visions from the Prophets, she is destined to become Kai, which is the equivalent of Old Earth's Roman Catholic Pope…
"Hey, at least YOU were able to be with Ranma, before YOU had chosen to take the Oath of Celibacy," Amanda replied. "I can't even leave the Q Continuum without permission from the other Q!"
"You know, I can hear you all talking," Ranma said. "Bad enough I have to be undress for my own wedding."
"Look on the bright side, Ranma," Ezri said with a smile. "At least you getting to the main event on your wedding might won't take any time at all."
"Ha, bloody, ha."
"Ranma, look!" Ryouga said, as all eyes turned towards the Bride, as she stepped to face her husband.
"Well?" Lwaxana said with a smile. "No compliments?"
"I'm trying to think clean thoughts for OBVIOUS reasons, 'Xana," Ranma said.
"Humph."
Fin.
