Chapter Two - Italy
Once settled in Italy, Arizona went out and explored the city. She walked around and found a small street that embodies true Italy, hidden away from the wellworn tourist routes. There she found a small restaurant runs down one side of the street with tables filled with locals eating lunch.
Arizona entered the cafe, sat down, and ordered her favourite pasta dish paired with a glass of wine. It was her first meal in Italy and it is something that she will never forget. The flavour will forever be stuck in her head. After paying for her meal, she decided to walk around some more before heading back.
She looks around the streets and saw locals and tourists chatting, laughing, shopping when suddenly something catches her eye through the crowds… A woman who is about in her early 20's is sitting on a curb at the entrance to a courtyard across the street from her. The woman is reading a letter through a flood of tears. She then signs it, puts it an envelope then disappears through the courtyard entrance.
Intrigued, Arizona enters a strange, eerily quiet scene. This is the supposed courtyard of Juliet Capulet's house. She walks past a group of girls looking up at The Balcony. Another group gazes upon the Statue of Juliet - her left breast polished from years of superstitious touching.
On her right, she noticed that she was standing before a wall that's covered in envelopes and letters. Some are wedged between bricks, others are held in place by chewing gum, but all are addressed to the same name: "Juliet".
The courtyard is about to close when she saw a woman starts collecting the letters, Arizona is startled at this intrusion, it doesn't seem right. So she grab the attention of the woman and said "Hey. Whoa. Wait. What are you doing? You can't do that.". The woman answered, "Why can't I?" Arizona replied, "Because it's like taking pennies out of a wishing well or something, these are people's wishes, you can't just take people's wishes." The the woman told Arizona, "But then how are we supposed to give them answers?"
This throws Arizona. She gives the woman an inquiring look and asks, "Who's we?". The woman smiled and said, "Come, I'll show you." They walk out of the courtyard and across an alley to a restaurant. Arizona looks up and sees that it's called: "Lettere a Giulietta".
The woman stopped and turned around and faced Arizona and said, "Sorry, I have not yet introduced myself, my name is April." With a smile, Arizona reached out her hand, "Its a pleasure to meet you April, my name is Arizona". They continued to move towards the restaurant.
Arizona follows April and walks through the restaurant into the kitchen. The kitchen is very busy. In the middle of it all is the head chef, Miranda Bailey, a round woman with a no nonsense air about her. She's barking orders at her staff when the woman and Arizona approach.
April was the first to speak, "Bailey, this is Arizona, I'm just gonna show her upstairs.". Arizona said, "Hi Bailey, it very nice to meet you." Bailey nods and smiles at Arizona. Bailey looks at the basket of letters April is carrying and said, "Looks like you'll be having a busy night." April nods then turns to Arizona, "This way".
Where exactly are they going?
