Chapter 2:

Powers of the gods

I know, I know. Its been a long time. No this story isn't dead and no I didn't expect my uploading schedule to be this shitty but it is what it is. Hopefully I will be able to get back to writing again soon. And yes I chose a different writing style this time so I hope it works.

Hon and Rax were currently climbing the mountain at a fast pace with deliberate and strong steps as they got closer to the fort. All the sudden he nearly slipped and fell of the mountain but steadied himself and cursed. "Damn this mountain. How are you holding up Rax?" he looked over at his companion and found him shivering, trying to keep himself warm. "as good as I can with this weather. Could you please walk faster? I am losing feeling in my feet and wings." He laughed a little and complied.

His feet, hands, and ears were a little cold but his legs, arms, head and torso was very warm. The weather doesn't affect him a lot but he couldn't say the same with his parrot. He hoped that the stronghold was close. Suddenly, it was like a switch went off and he knew something was near. He couldn't afford to talk to Rax in case someone was listening so he had to use another trick up his sleeve. I think we have a problem. He saw him turn his head and nearly speak but she put one finger up to his own lips to show him to not talk. Rax: what is wrong? He continued to walk while casting his attention behind him.

Hon then thought projected his thought as clearly as he could someone is following us. But I don't think they are normal. You can feel it, can't you. He knew that his friend sensed it because he could nearly feel his confusion and fear. Rax: what are they? There movements are unstable and twitchy. I don't like this. Hon: same here. He continued to walk the path while he listened to the newcomers as they got closer. More footsteps were joining the original. Hon then prompted when he spoke, or thought. I count about eight. You? Rax thought about it and had to agree. I would say the same. what should we do? He thought for a moment. He didn't have the moment of surprise, but he could guess that they didn't know that he already was onto their tricks. Hon then knew what to do. Just fly when I give you the signal and don't come back until you see me. Rax already didn't like his plan but he knew there was nothing he could do to change his mind.

They moved like the wind and were silent. There blades were shining in the moonlight as they followed the man with his bird with their magic at the ready. Their mission, to destroy the fort and take hostage as many dragons as possible. They didn't think the man in front of them was much of a threat. O how wrong they were. Suddenly the weather turned and a blizzard started during the time that they were following the two. Eventually they lost sight and the group leader signaled for four others to find them, the small group complied and all the group stopped except for the chosen.

ten minutes had passed and no word. The leader had signaled for six more to follow and the faded into the white blanket of this storm. Another ten minutes passed and nothing. The leader was getting suspicions and decided that he needed to take care of this problem himself. He assembled what was left of the ambush party and marched into the blizzard, not knowing what to expect.

The blizzard was blinding and yet the continued. All their eyes hurt and none could hear or see further than 3 meters. Little did they know that they were the pray and their supposed pray was the predator. Moving faster than the mind could ever hope to process. A blade slit all their throats, except for one. The leader stood still as stone. What was happening? Is this the wraith of the gods? How could one man have such power?

Suddenly a mysterious voice decided to answer him. While sounding ancient, wise, and deadly all at the same time. "well…the answers are more complicated that you think." All the sudden the leader couldn't move. It was like his body had turned against him, sealing him with magic onto this spot. He spoke with a shaken deep voice that spoke of approaching panic and fear. "what the hell are you?" his voice was shaken and scared as he strength felt like it was being drained from him. A man appeared on his right. It was the man they were tailing but he was different. His eyes were…inhuman. It was like looking into the eyes of a…no. Hon spoke with a deep and deadly tone. With his life fading all he hears was:

"A god." The man then dropped to the ground, dead, drained like how a vampire would suck the blood from a human. He then moved on as the blizzard subsided and the sky cleared and shown a dark moon. His parrot then flew to him from the sky and landed on his shoulder. The parrot was disturbed by what he said but couldn't say anything. it is just in his nature.

She was then awakened, very startled by what she saw.

Hon moved forward after that detour and continued. He felt awkwardness in the air yet he simply didn't care, Rax had no need to tell him off for that. He had started to lose himself inside as he became one with the battle, but when it is over…he feels like something inside of him revels in the pain and suffering of his enemy's. he had shown too much of himself when he attacked that group, His eyes most of all. He was losing control and he needed to snap out of it.

He was snapped back into reality when his parrot bit him lightly on the ear. he thought he wanted to talk and just wasn't feeling it. "I don't want to talk abou-" Rax interrupted him. "look." The parrot indicated to a large wooden door with a smooth stone wall guarding the edges with soldiers watching the entrance with even more soldiers on the wall with archers. All standing tall and proud. He approached the wall, witch only made the soldiers stand taller and shout "stop" which he did. "what business do you have here?" Hon let out a growl of frustration which didn't go unnoticed by the guards who promptly stiffed.

He took a deep breath and spoke. "I have come to see if I could find work." The soldiers looked at each other and both nodded then promptly turned to him and said; "you seem to be suited for the job, but the captain will have to make the final decision on that." He was about to move on but stopped. "hey, do you know why I was attacked when I was climbing up the mountain?" he said. The guards looked at each other again then looked at him, almost seeing him in a new light. "how many are left in the attack force." Hon then smirked and said; "none, 20 attacked me, and no one survived." The guards were obviously surprised. But said nothing except "good job"

The guards then moved and another guard that was short but just as strong looked moved in front of him and said nothing more other than "follow me" as they got closer to the wooden gates they opened to reveal a town of sorts that was full of warriors, big and small, men and women, but mostly men since women typically aren't as strong as men most of the time. Although, if a woman is strong enough to make it through the training then they deserve a place in the army if they so wish.

The buildings were made from stone, yet the buildings look like they were made by nature from how smooth they looked. No edge was out of place and there was no sign that anything human made them. The buildings also looked like stairs with the nearest building to him being the lowest and it goes higher the farther in the town he went. The town seemed to also lead into a cave that is extremely big, however they were guarded by towers that hung on the outside of the mountains with a staircase leading a way down on the side of the cave. With what seemed like a meatal gate.

With a look, up he found that the clouds seemed closer than before and that the mountains still lead up well past the clouds. He was also sure he saw something looking at him from the gate but only saw it for a slight second before disappearing. In fact, he felt like more eyes were staring at him. As he was following the guard he was looking in many different directions, trying to find the source of the eyes but found nothing. Suddenly he felt his heart and mind almost stop as his souls and the dragon souls squirmed to find something…a dragon soul. He could feel them trying to lead him but he refused to follow.

He needed to focus and stop freaking out. He wouldn't let himself kill, he had to contain himself. This is a good first step. To control his urges and learn to live with it. he wouldn't make it far without it. are you feeling the urge? Rax inquired. He always knew when this was happening. Yes…although I can handle it. he moved on and soon found himself in front of the cave he had seen. The guard indicated to go into the cave. "the captain will see you in here, usually we don't send the recruits to see him but he took an interest in you so consider yourself lucky." He laughed as he walked into the cave. "luck didn't bring me this far. It is better you learn that fast or perish with the others."

He then walked on as the solder was left behind who was most likely staring into the back of his head. He was soon passing by some rooms that seemed as if someone used to live in each of them but left for an unknown reason, and to be honest it reminded him of the after affects of what happened at his home. "your remembering aren't you…Its ok to miss them." He didn't respond to what Rax said. Just stayed silent while he spoke again. "your life has endured hardship but I know someday, you will be happy again." He snorted and nearly laughed. "that isn't possible now, with the secrets I now know. I have had my eyes open and they can never be shut again. We both know the truth. My happiness will come at a price." Then all of the sudden he could feel a shift and suddenly he was surrounded by…something. It was too dark to see and he couldn't use his magic because…because.

You want to do it so let us out!

Kill…

Should we take the young ones?

Murder

Kill…

Shall we make this one suffer?

KILL!

KILL THEM ALL AND STRIP THEM OF THERE SOULS!

All at once the souls spoke and he felt a trimer from within as his souls had a need. But with a strong will he suppressed the urge. Eventually he calmed down and realized that he closed his eyes to concentrate and opened them to see that suddenly the cave was lit with a almost warming glow and he entrance he came through was small in comparison to the room. With how big this hollow was he was surprised that it didn't fall apart. But what shocked him the most was what was in there with him.

Claws with long fangs. A scaly and cold appearance with eyes that accused and wings that were ready to take flight and end him.

Dragons.
