The next morning came to be. Sara groaned, shutting off the alarm as it blared around the flat. She slowly got up and went to the bathroom to get ready. When done, John was reading the paper with his tea and Sherlock looking at something and taking notes.
"Morning!" She spoke, grabbing her lunch "Heading off to school! I'll maybe see you later" she hugged John and Sherlock quickly before leaving. Sara saw Ella again and smiled "Hey, I can show you how to get to St. Joan's if you want. It's an easy walk from here" Sara offered.
"Thanks Sara, thats sweet of you" Ella smiled and started to walk with her to school.
Meanwhile, Sherlock watched Sara from the window; as he always did. He raised an eyebrow at the girl beside her though.
"I think we have new neighbors. Latina American" Sherlock spoke blandly.
"Oh really? Must've moved in yesterday. We should greet them" John suggested, turning a page in the paper. Sherlock groaned in unintrest. John sighed "Good oppurtunity to make new friends Sherlock" he added.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt" Sherlock sighed "Maybe later though" He added.
Back at the school, Sara and Ella walked inside and showed her the office "I guess I'll see you later?" Ella asked as Sara nodded happily before leaving. She goes to her locker and opened it. She puts her bag away, grabbing her books for her first few classes. A group of boys about her age approaches "Morning Holmes. Figured you wouldn't show up today" One taunted.
"Leave me alone James" Sara warned quietly "I don't mean trouble"
"Maybe we should teach you a lesson about this school" He grabs her arms, loud thuds from textbooks going to the floor. Sara's scars became evident. The boy named James chuckled quietly "No wonder why your parents didn't want you. They were probably drunks. Matter of time before Sherlock does the same thing" He said as Sara stomped on his foot and he pulled away. Sara grabbed one of her textbooks and whacked him in the head. He went to the floor and whacked the others that tried to grab her. Sara whacked James agin shouting "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME! AND YOU NEVER WILL!" She whacked him again before a teacher arrived "Oh god, Sara. Get your things, and go straight to the headmaster's office. He's going to have a field day about this" She demanded and Sara scurried off. The teacher guided the hurt students to the nurse.
The Headmaster, Mr. Thatcher sat at his desk, staring at Sara. She looked down shamefully and sighed. He pulled up his glasses "So I heard you hit a few students with a textbook on purpose" He said "Care to explain?" He asked.
"I was getting my books when a few boys came over and started picking on me. I gave them a warning, but they didn't listen. One grabbed my arms, said something I didn't like and I fought back. What they said was too far Headmaster" Sara explained as she saw him write something on his notepad.
"I'm still to have to call your legal guardian. Fortunately, I was informed of your... predicament before you were enrolled. However, what you did is still grounds for suspension and possible expulsion. You can't just harm students and act explosively just because someone hurt your feelings" Mr. Thatcher said.
"I tried talking to the counselor about the teasing and the bullying, the don't stop. Yoy guys don't do anything even though it's illegal. Aren't you supposed to help us?" She asked.
"Please go back to class, I don't want another word of this" He warned, writing a hall pass. Sara grabbed her things and scurried off to her classroom. Ella saw Sara go inside and sat beside her. She opened her textbook and a notebook, taking notes quietly.
At the end of the day, Sara and Ella walked back home to hear yelling "AND STAY OUT!!! BEFORE I HIT YOU WITH MY SHOE AGAIN!" Ana shouted, pushing Sherlock out. Mrs. Hudson stormed out "What is going on here?! Oh! I see you two met" She sighed.
"and we fought in front of the kids..." Ana sighed, facepalming. Ella ran up to Ana happily, hugging her. Ana hugged her back "How was your first day?" She asked.
"It was great momma! Sara was really helpful" Ella smiled softly.
"Thats great. Well maybe her father and herself can come for dinner" Ana suggested.
"That would be lovely Ms. Ortiz" Sara smiled happily.
"Why not this weekend? Just don't bring the snarky attitude Mr. Holmes" Ana warned as Sherlock nodded as Sara went upstairs.
"Thank you" Sherlock nodded gently before heading upstairs as well. He shut the door and sighed "I hate Americans" he breathed out.
"What did you do to make her mad?" Sara asked.
"Insulted her intelligence and maybe her culture. As well as mentioning her medications that the only reason was she moved because of my brother agreeing to make them cheaper" He said.
"You can't accuse people like that. So what? Uncle Mycroft is not so bad. He may be mean sometimes, but he means well. Also, he asked me to give you this" Sara digged through her bag to find a little flash drive.
"No" He walked away "I don't pity cases. When did he even give that to you?" he questioned.
"He gave me a reminder to give it to you" Sara replied.
"It's not so bad Sherlock. It's a case, could be a good distraction" John added.
"I need to tell Mycroft to stop using you as an inlet for taking his cases Sara. I guess I could use another case as that one was simple" he nodded, taking the flash drive.
