Chapter 2

BEEP BEEP BEEP! "Oh my god really!?" I yelled into my pillow annoyed. "Ugh!" I grunted getting up lazily to turn off my alarm clock which was on my dresser. I slammed my hand on it and yawned loudly going straight to my bathroom still half asleep. I stripped lazily in the bathroom attached to my room surprisingly. But this was only a two bedroom house so two rooms with a bathroom isn't too surprising. I turned on the shower and started to wash myself surprised I got out of bed instead of sleeping in and getting up to rush and get ready at the last minute. I shrugged at that then quickly got out the shower after washing myself and hair. I blow dried my hair brushing it out then going to my clothes I laid out last night. I hung them back up and decided to go with something else for my first day. "Hmm… What should I wear…" I muttered looking around my walk-in closet. "Got it!"

I pulled out some black underwear and matching bra and pulled it on then put on some light colored skinny jeans with a wide black belt. I put on some black ankle high, high heeled boots then pulled a white shirt with black sleeves over my head. The shirt stopped right below my belly button showing a little midriff. I smiled at my reflection before going to open my curtains to let the bright light in. I looked at my street seeing that I wasn't too far from Bonnie's place. I gasped to myself jumping up and down quickly running to my bathroom to straighten my waist length chestnut brown hair leaving a side part. I smiled and put on some light make up, lip gloss eyeliner and mascara. 'Oh my God! If I hurry I scan surprise her!' I yelled in my head. I checked the time as I finished up, oh shit! It was 7:40 and school started at 8:30am. "Knowing BonBon she'll want to get there early with Elena and Care-Bear..." I said to myself as I walked to my closet pulling out my black leather jacket with the opening bent to the sides, not meant to close. I ran a hand through my hair and smiled before leaving my room and picking up my brown shoulder bag on the way out the door saying a quick 'bye' to the two in the kitchen cooking.

I walked out past the driveway looking longingly at my black Chrysler 200. Yeah, I know its old but I love that car and I keep it looking brand new and shiny 24/7. I strutted a block down to Bonnie's house and knocked eagerly.

I had only told Matt I was coming here to Mystic Falls before hand to surprise everyone on the first day. I couldn't fight my mischievous grin as I awaited the look on her face when she saw me. Her grandmother opened the door and I smiled at her, "HI Ms. Bennett! I missed you! Is BonBon here?" I said fast and eagerly. She laughed at me and gave me a hug, "I missed you too, child. Bonnie's-" She started, but when I hugged her back she stopped and pulled away quickly looking at me with wide curious eyes.

I furrowed my eye brows, "You okay ?" I said nervously wandering what I did wrong. She shook her head about to say something when Bonnie came down stairs, "Hey Gran, is someone at the doo-" She started until she saw me. I quickly forgot about grandma and squealed happily, "BONNIEE!" I yelled running into the house meeting her halfway as she ran as well, "MELANIEE!" She screamed and we ran into eachother's arms squeezing the life out of eachother.

"OMG! Mel! Where have you been? I missed you so much!? What happened? How'd you come back? Wh-", I cut her off putting a hand over her mouth letting a warm smile that I've missed come across my face. "I'll explain it all to you on the way BonBon." I laughed out. She nodded out of breath. We both stared at eachother for a second then busted out laughing. Her grandmother seemed to snap out of whatever trance she was in and smiled at the two of us."Okay, Okay, Now you two. Don't be late, go on to school!" She said with a grandmotherly smile that I missed. We smiled at eachother and linked arms going to her car. "Shotgun!" I called out hopping in front giggling. Bonnie laughed, "Well, seeing as there's no one else to say otherwise…" She said looking at me weird.

I chuckled letting her drive off, "So… now that we're alone. Spill it! What happened? I'm so sorry about your-" She started heartfeltly. I smiled at her sadly shaking my head cutting her off, "Haha, that's what I love and miss about you Bonnie. But please don't. You don't have to do that. I get that enough from strangers, but I appreciate it. I'll be fine now that I'm here with you guys. My friends. You're all I need to get through this." I said softly with a smile looking at her and holding her wrist.

She smiled back pulling over and letting a tear escape her eye, "Awe, Mellie… Thanks that means a lot… God, I've missed you!" She said softly jumping me with another hug and sniffling. "Oh geez! Bonnie you known I hate being all mushy! Haha! Come on! Lets got get the third musketeer then meet the fourth at school!" I said seriously pointing off into the sunset.

She laughed dabbing her eyes so she didn't mess up her make up and laughed, "Hahaha, oh god Mel. What would we ever do without you?" She said with a grin. Starting back up the car and pulling off to get the third musketeer.

I grinned back shaking my head, "Nothin BonBon, absolutely nothing."

Elena's P.O.V.

I smiled in my reflection one last time before heading downstairs. I went to get coffee but Jeremy took it from me. I sighed shaking my head, "Help yourself.." I muttered sarcastically. I started to try and have a heart to heart with him but he cut me off like always, "Just, don't, okay? Not today." He said walking away. I looked to Jenna and we both watched him walk away. "I wish I could help him…' I thought to myself before seeing the time. "Shoot! I gotta go Bonnie's almost here see ya Aunt Jenna!" Yelled leaving She yelled a goodbye back and I waited in my driveway for Bonnie lost in thought.

Everytime I think about me and Jeremy's 'situation' I remember our best friend Melanie. He lost both her parents a few months before I did I could only imagine what she was going through. I mean, at least me and Jeremy have eachother and Jenna. She's an only child and she has no other family. I felt so bad for her. She was the nicest, funniest girl once you got to know her .She's so amazing too, she doesn't like cheer, but she's very fit and athletic even though she eats like a pig. She's got to be the smartest girl in our school, and she's unbelievably hot. I swear when I first met her, I was jealous for so long and didn't like her. Now we're best friends. I love her, she's like my sister along with Bonnie and Caroline. God, I wish she was here.

I saw Bonnie's familiar car and smiled with a wave but put it down when I saw someone already in there with her. I furrowed my brows looking at the car weirdly. Huh? Who else was she supposed to be picking up? Caroline has a car. So who?

Melanie's P.O.V.

"I see nothing's changed at La Casa De Gilbert." I said sarcastically as we pulled up. Bonnie giggled, "Oh Shut up, hey there's Elena!" She said pulling up in front. I saw Elena's weirded out face and laughed. I hopped out the car and jumped Elena so quick I doubt she saw my face. I picked her up surprisingly with ease and swung her in a circle giggling as Bonnie came out the car watching us with a smile holding her door open leaning on it.

"Hey! W-What the-!" Elena started, but the I pulled away letting her see my face. She gasped loudly, "M-Mel? NO WAY!" She yelled hugging me back finally. I laughed as we rocked eachother back and forth. "Oh my god! I missed you! I'm so sorry about your parents!" She said hugging me again knowing my pain. I smiled, "Thanks I'm sorry too. Your parents will be missed." I said kindly. She was the only one I was okay with saying sorry to me because she knew the pain. Everyone else just bothered me with it. We smiled at eachother happily, "Missed you Elena, haha. By the way I called shotgun!" I yelled happily jumping into the front seat. She laughed shaking her head. "Yeah, Okay fine. Only cause you just got here." She Said pouting playfully. I giggled, "Onward BonBon!" I yelled as she pulled off. We laughed and caught up on the way there and Bonnie told us about her Grandma's crazy witch theory then we laughed about that too. "Haha, yeah but who knows? If you were a witch you'd tell me first right? Cause that would be soo cool!" I said slightly fangirling as Elena and Bonnie looked at me crazy then at themselves then busted out laughing. "Hey!" I pouted. "Okay, Okay! I promise if I'm a witch, which is crazy weird to even say, I will tell you first Mel." She said shaking her head. Elena said nothing looking out the window. Me and Bonnie made eye contact worriedly. "Earth to Elena? Back in the car." Bonnie said looking in the rearview mirror. She jumped the sighed heavily, "I did it again didn't I? Sorry guys.." She muttered softly. "It's cool Elena I get it." I said sweetly with a smile.

"That's also why I'm here.." I started as we pulled into the school and Bonnie parked, I put on Bonnie's sunglasses I found in the car and hopped out yelling loudly and happily, "TO BRING SUNSHINE TO THE OTHERWISE CLOUDY TOWN OF MYSTIC FALLS!" I yelled loudly announcing myself happily. Bonnie and Elena got out the car and hid themselves in embarrassment by me as everyone turned our way. I smiled and waved at them. I turned back to the two slowly sneaking away. I laughed at their attempts knowing they were stuck with me. I skipped to their side and wrapped my arms around the two's shoulders and we walked together to the school. "How did you even just skip in those heels?" Elena wondered to us. I chuckled, "One of my many mysteries Ms. Gilbert." I said mysteriously. We all giggled to our lockers seeing as mine was in between the two like always. I opened my locker and we all put our stuff away. Elena looked across the hall and I saw Matt but he was too busy staring at Elena to notice me. I looked back at Elena then shut my locker just as Matt slammed his and walked away. "Damn.." I said lifting my brow at his back.

"I know righ, it's been like that since they broke up." Bonnie whispered to me. "I just wish we could go back to being friends again.." Elena said wistfully. I smiled at her, "oh don't worry Elena. He's only being like that because he actually cares about you a lot." I said with a smile before anyone could say anything else I heard a loud squeal and I was glomped from behind. I yelled in shock as I was hugged tightly and spun around.

"OMG! Melanie! God I missed you so much! Where have you been? Are you okay? Sorry about your parents. Are you going to join the team this year? Do you have a secret boyfriend I don't know about? Ohmygod! I can't believe you're here!" She yelled happily speaking too fast for anyone who wasn't myself to understand. I laughed hugging her back and stepping away. And this my peers is why me and Caroline are friends, "I missed you too Care-Bear. I've been in North Carolina for my parents funeral, I'm fine and thanks. No I'm not joining the team, no I don't have a secret boyfriend, and I happy to be here!" I said happily answering all her questions. We laughed together for awhile then Elena and Caroline started talking to eachother. I walked up to Bonnie, "I still don't know how you two do that." She said shaking her head. I laughed, "Well that's the perks of spending a lot of unnecessary time with Caroline haha."

"Hey did you guys hear about the new guy? I heard he's hot." Caroline said with a smile that we all knew meant, 'he's mine'. "Nope but I'm sure we'll run into him." Elena said uncaringly. Caroline nodded, saw someone else then told us bye leaving. "Hmm, well that was fun." I said sarcastically.

Elena laughed, "C'mon lets go." She said walking towards our first period. We passed the hallway and Bonnie stopped us in front of the office. "Who. Is. That?" She said with a smirk looking at the back of what looks to be a very handsome guy. "Mmm, I don't know but he looks hot." I said as we all stared at him talking to the lady about his schedule. "What do you think Elena?"I asked looking over to her. "All I see is back." She replied to me.

"That's a sexy back." Bonnie said dreamily. "Why don't you use your psychic abilities to figure it out?" Elena said playfully. "Ugh, your really going to run this into the ground aren't you?" Bonnie said slumping her shoulders neither ever taking their eyes off of the guy. Until Elena saw something and cursed under her breath, "What's wrong Elena?" I asked curiously tearing my gaze from 'mystery guy'. "Nothing I'll catch up with you guys in a bit." She said before fast walking straight into the boy's bathroom. "umm, okay…" I muttered silently going back to tall, tan, and mysterious waiting with Bonnie for him to turn around and when he finally did me and Bonnie gasped. 'Oh…My…Jesus…'

This guy was so hot. My breath caught as he walked towards me and Bonnie with an awkward smile. I smiled back in a flirty way unable to help myself. He just surprisingly smirked back and kept walking. "I think I'm in love." I said jokingly to Bonnie. She just nodded back.

Fast forward we are in class and it looks like the hot new guy, Stefan Salvatore, was all googley eyes with Elena so I decided to stop with my flirting attempts. Besides, they'd be cute together. Bonnie and Elena messaged eachother through class and somehow not only is Stefan a pretty face but smart too. 'Hmm, he can't beat my 5.0 grade average though…' I thought letting my nerdy side out.

Finally school is out and there's a comet party tomorrow so I cant wait. Bonnie drops me off at home and I go straight to my room not bothering with the two downstairs.
