I might no have gotten Koda's speech right but I did my best to keep to his personality. :3 Enjoy the second chapter.

Chapter 2

The woman and I made it to the museum. She momentarily looked to me before heading for the back of the building. I had a feeling I was going to be getting swallowed up by that T-Rex head again. We made it to the back. This felt more familiar than last time, but this time two guys had joined us. I wearily watch the two. It was normal from what happened earlier.

"Whose she, Kendall?" Asked the one carrying a skateboard. He was very curious about me. To me, he looked like someone who would get into trouble a lot. I kept my mouth such.

"It is none of your concern." The woman, Kendall, replied. She led me straight for the mouth of the dinosaur. "Now hop in." She instructed. "We will meet you there."

I nodded to Kendall before looking into the dinosaur's mouth. 'Better not go in head first this time.' I thought as I hopped onto the tongue. I peered down before deciding to slip down. This time, I was prepared for what came on the other side.

I slipped out into the base landing neatly. I heard the others coming, and scurried out of the way. Sure enough, out came the one with messy hair then the one with the skateboard. I backed away nervously. Kendall came in finally after the two. "Now," she said as she quickly check the computers before turning to me, "What happened back there?"

And as you know it, right in que Keeper into the scene. He obviously was very curious with the current situation. For me, his sudden mist appearance frightened me. "Why is Silver here so late?" He asked calmly.

"That is what she will explain right now." Kendall said, and with that all eyes were lain on me.

I stared around nervously. I felt like I was being pressured to answer their question. This was not fun. I nervously looked to everyone. Their eyes seemed to be trained on me and only me. I took in a shaky breath.

"Why don't Silver and I have a talk alone." Keeper piped up, as if he could feel my fear. The others were uncertain before leaving. Kendall was more resisting to leave, but she took Keeper's words as an order. Once everyone left, Keeper turned to me.

For some odd reason, he had such a calming energy to me that I had to spill everything. I shakily inhaled as I began, "I was walking home. When I neared my house, the lights were out. My dad or mother usually have the lights on." I took another shaky breath. "As I grabbed out my keys, I heard my dog, Rusty, bark. This made me nervous as I finished unlocking my door. When I unlocked the last door, I heard Rusty whimper." I began to shake just remembering what happened minutes ago. "I entered my home. I should have called the police instead of entering the building when I know I could have been injured. It was Rusty's whimper that had given me courage to even walk in." Tears began to form in my eyes again. "I...I noticed Rusty laying in the ground. I was so scared for his safety that I went over to see if he had a heartbeat or not." I was really crying at this point. "This man said that my dog was lucky and my family not so much." I noticed Keeper stiffen at the sound of my family not being so lucky.

"Where did he bring them?" Keeper asked with slight urgency in his voice.

"He said that he had them as prisoners." I reply, as I cried more out of fear. For some odd reason, I was hugging Keeper unconsciously. He had rested an arm around my back while his other patted my head in comfort. "I feel so useless."

"This is why you are a ranger, Silver." Keeper said trying to reassure me.

"If being a Ranger means having your family and friends in danger all the time," I had calmed down crying only a little bit, "then I rather not be one out of safety of my family and friends."

For a moment, Keeper had nothing to say. "But if you don't become a Ranger, how will you save your family?" He finally asked. "Maybe leading the Rangers is not a good choice for you." He pulls away. "There is one Energem that will still have you be a ranger, and not lead." He brings out a white Energem. "This is one that I have not yet understood. None of the dinosaurs had this one. Would you like to have it?"

I stared at the white Energem. "What if I mess up?" I asked nervously staring at the pretty white gem in Keeper's hand.

"You won't mess up because the other rangers will be with you." Keeper assured. With a free hand, he grabbed one of my hands. With the other, holding the crystal, he set it in my held hand. He then steps back.

I stare at the dimmed gem. I looked to Keeper to see his expression was grim. "Maybe the Energem doesn't want me." I said. Without any warning, the gem brightened. The bright light forced Keeper and me to cover our eyes. I slowly uncovered my eyes. I noticed a glowing white feathered dinosaur simply floating between Keeper and me. I noticed Keeper is seeing what I am seeing. "An archaeopteryx?" I thought astonished. The archaeopteryx looked at us both curious. It screeched loudly before slipping back into the gem again. The gem flashed before dimming again. The crystal was vibrating with energy as the light brighten and dimmed in my hands as if it was breathing. I noticed Keeper's expression brighten up at what had just happened. "What is it this time?" I asked curious.

"This Energem seems to like you more than the red Energem." Keeper spoke half to himself. "The red Energem is now without a ranger." He turned to think.

"Um... Keeper?" I asked curiously despite I did not want to interrupt his thoughts. I was a little nervous. Keeper turned to me with a reassuring smile. "What do I do now that I am considered a ranger?" I asked confused.

"We find the other Energems before it gets in the wrong hands." Kendall said from behind me.

I jumped and turned to see Kendall. She was standing there. "How long have you been standing there?" I asked. She wasn't supposed to be here. Keeper had specifically said we would talk alone.

"Long enough to see Keeper handing over the white Energem to you." Kendall replied honestly. "I had forgotten something and came back for it to find this scene." She did not look pleased, but she wasn't angry at us.

It turned back to Keeper when I realized something. "I have no home. My parents were kidnapped and my dog at the vets. Where am I going to stay?" I asked not sure what else to ask for. The thought of my dog in the vets made me nervous. Having no home is also pretty scary.

"I have room in my cave." I turned to see the guy with messy hair. He was standing at the slide.

"Is everyone eavesdropping?" I asked a little annoyed before I fell silent again. I felt everyone's stare. "Sorry, I am just in a situation where I don't know what to do. I am scared." I honestly said. It was true. I was super scared, but that is because my parents were captured and my dog unconscious. I looked to the guy with the messy hair again. "Thank you." I decided to start over, kind of. "I would like that till I find a home of my own." Then I stopped realizing something for a moment. I shook the thought. I looked to Keeper to see he gave an approving nod. I looked back to the guy to see he was already walking away. I raced after him.

He went into an opening in the side of the base. To me, this was a cave in a cave. We followed through the short winding path. We entered into a bigger rounder cave. I looked around the surrounding. In the center there was a small camp fire for light. Bedding was on the ground. It was simply a blanket as the sheet and a blanket for covering. There was even a pillow. I noticed cave wall markings. This increased my suspicion. I walked up to the paintings and looked at them curiously. "Did you make these?" I asked not removing my eyes from the cave paintings.

Whatever he was doing, he had stopped. "Yes." Was all he answered.

I stared at the cave drawings for a bit. I then turned to the guy. I realized I don't even know his name. "What is your name?" I asked.

He was standing around. Whatever he had done, there was no sign of it. "Koda." He asnswers.

"Okay." I nodded in approval at his name. I had to admit, Koda was one of my favorite names I have ever heard. I have plenty other names I like, but I could not name them all from the top of my head. "And you alreay know my name, correct?"

"Yes. Silver, is it not?" Koda replies.

"Yes it is." I replied then had another problem. "I need to get something from my home but I don't want to go alone. I have bedding that I can sleep on." I said and explained why I wanted to go back to my home. No way was I going back to my house without someone with me for support.

"I can go with you." Koda offered.

I was pleased at his offer. "We need to let Keeper and Kendall know first." I pointed out. "I don't want to worry or anger either of them." I began to walk out of the small cave back into the base. Kendall was talking to Keeper, but she stopped when she noticed the two of us.

Keeper walked up to me. "Got settled in?" He asked.

"Not yet." I replied. "I was thinking of going back to my house to get some bedding."

"You aren't going alone, are you." Keeper asked looking a little worried.

I shook my head no. "No way." I replied. "I ain't going back without support." I did not like the idea of even going back in fear that guy was back. "Besides, Koda said he would come with me."

Keeper nods in approval. "Very well." He says. "Go but be careful."

"We will." I answer giving a slight dip of my head before turning and heading out. Koda followed close behind.

It was still dark while Koda and I walked toward my house. It was a nice night in my opinion. Not a lot of people feel completely comfortable in the darkness, but I absolutely adore the darkness. A thought popped in my mind. "Do you believe in past lives?" I asked Koda, as I looked to him with curiosity.

"I never heard of it before." Koda replies.

I was shocked for a moment before I remembered my suspicion. Not many people know about what a past life is. I thought for a moment so I could word it right. "A past life is a life before you are born in your current life. Like…" I was trying to think of an example. "I was a dragon rider in a past life, but I got killed. I then was born as a silver tabby tom with blind blue eyes named Jayfeather. I was a medicine cat in that life. I don't know how I died in that life. Possibly old life."

"You were a healer?" Koda asked with curiosity.

"I was one of the first healers in my dragon rider life." I replied liking the idea of seeing Koda's curiosity.

"How long ago was this?" he asked.

"Um…" I was caught off guard by the question. I had never thought how long ago that could have been. "Well, it was about, possibly, 100 to 200 years before the medieval time." I thought before continuing. "I lived with dragons." I looked to him to see if his expression was of shock, but it wasn't. "I was born as a human but my parents were killed by demons. I ended up living with dragons when I said I wanted to help in the war. I knew it was going to be a difficult and dangerous task for a 5 year old." I looked away remembering my house burning to the ground and my dead parents laying around with blood pooling around them. "I was given an egg of my choosing. I chose the blue egg. For all I knew, I could have chosen the gold, green, or red egg but I did not." At least I was pleased to have created an interesting conversation because Koda seems really interested. "I was taken to this forest with a waterfall next to a cave. I lived in that cave with the dragon." Now, that bit I knew related to how Koda currently lives. "This cave was huge, though compared to yours. If you think about it, it makes sense if you think about a dragon being the size of a T-rex. I lived there as my home. A blue dragon became my father, and the hatchling became my sister and friend. We flew everywhere together. I even learned about herbs and how to use them in everyday life. I made remedies out of them. What I did not know was that draconic blood was immune to lots of different plants and diseases than humans." I realized I was rambling on. "I had a lot of adventrues on the back of my dragon. Thanks to the draconic blood running through my veins, I was able to live for about 450 years to 500 years. I lived into the medieval period and died in that time. I would have lived possibly up to today if I did not give myself killed." I sighed at the though. My mood changed at that moment. "It feels like I threw everything away when I died. My father and sister both grieved."

Speaking about a significant past life, I remembered the most, had taken most of our time of walking to my house. We were now in the neighborhood. The neighborhood looked unfamiliar in the dark. Good thing I like walking in the darkness and know the area well. We stood in front of my house. There were caution tape everywhere, but no one was near the building nor in site. Koda and I walked inside the house toward my room. I looked at my darkened room for specific things. Koda stood in the front of my door waiting. I flicked the light on real quick, and everything was very bright. I walked over to where a folded red blanket was. Quickly grabbing it I turned to my bed for a pillow. Afterward, I climbed up in my bed and grabbed my feather blanket.

"What is that?" I hear Koda ask. I turned to see what he means. He was pointing to my couch.

"Um…" I quickly went back down with the blanket. "It is a costume I am working on." I put the bedding stuff together. I walked to my cotume. I sighed at the white object. "What would the others think of me bringing in a costume?" I half asked myself. I shrugged it off as I grabbed a trash bag that was not in use in my room. I put the costume in and put other stuff in what I needed to finish the costume. "Ready to go?" I asked Koda. He gave a nod and we both heaed out. I was carrying both my bedding and the trash bag. We went back in the direction of the museum again. I was overloaded with this stuff but it was not knew to me.

It was a quiet walk all the way back to the base. "Glad to see you two back." Keeper said as Koda and I entered the base.

"Yeah, I need to drop this stuff then get my spot ready. I will be done in a tiny bit." I huffed with effort. Try walking about 5 or so blocks back to the base with an arm full of bedding. Koda led the way into the cave.

"You can take the other side." He offered.

I nodded, as I dropped my stuff on the ground well away from the small fire. I took the spot closest to the wall, which I am use to by now. I opened the purple blanket. It was long enough for me to lay my whole body straight. I put the feather blanket on the top. I set the pillow half on the blanket and half off. This was so the pillow would not slip out from under me. I then set my costume on my side, also far away from the fire. What I did not have was plenty of cloths. I just thought of doing that eventually. I looked to Koda once I was done. "I think I am done. All I really need is some clothes, but I can do that another time."

Koda nods in agreement, and we walked out of the cave back into the main room. When we entered, Kendall was looking as if she was calculating something. She looked to us to us. "You got settled in?" She asked. I nervously nodded. "Very well, you job starts early tomorrow. I suggest you get to sleep."

"Hoe can I sleep knowing my parents are held prisoners?" I asked a spark a rage was in my eyes.

"You aren't alone, Silver." I jumped when I noticed Keeper standing in the background. "If you don't rest now, you will be tired."

I heavily sighed with disappointment and defeat. He was right after all. I did need my rest or I get really grouchy. "Fine." I replied. "As long as we can save them as soon as possible."

"We will do what we can." Koda said looking determined.

I nodded sadly and turned for the cave. "Night everyone."

"Night, Silver." Keeper replied.

I continued into the cave toward my bedding. I pulled the feather blanket aside then sat on the purple blanket. I quick grabbed the trash bag and brought out the head from my costume. I looked at sadly. "Only if I could be a real dragon." I muttered to myself. I then heard someone coming into the cave. I hurried up and put the head back in the bag but a little too late. Koda came in with Keeper. I did not dare look at them but at the corner of my eyes. Koda looked to me for a moment before sitting on his bedding. If I had ears, they would be pulled back to show how uncomfortable I felt.

I noticed Keeper staring at my costume before to me. "Did you make that?" He asked unexpectedly.

I slightly jumped and looked at him confused. "Made what?" I asked. I kind of already knew what he was talking about. I simply acted dumb to see if I was right.

"What is in the bag." Keeper said.

I looked over to my costume. "It is just a costume." I said as I grabbed the head again. "It is not finished. It is supposed to be a dragon costume. A white dragon."

"What material?" Asked Koda. He looked curious at the the costume.

I grew red at that point. I felt like I was the center of attention. In a way I was. "Paper and tape." I replied nervously.

"Can you show?" Koda asked.

I looked wearily at Koda before looking to Keeper. "I thought I had to sleep." I pointed out. Saying no to Koda's curious expression was no use. I sighed. "On or off? It was made to fit over clothing."

"I think on would be nice." Now Keeper looked very interested in the costume.

I blushed even more. I nodded as I got to my feet. "Is help possible?" I asked curiously. Koda was the one to hop to hop to his feet to help. I grabbed out all three pieces of the costume. The bottom piece was what I put on first. I put each leg on. I grabbed out a pair of shoes. Theses had black talons on them with a brown heal spike. There was a bit of scaling at the talons. I taped those up quickly. Then there was a pelt to hold it in place and a piece to go between the legs so the bottoms piece doesn't twist. "I need you to either give me a bit of tape or you hold it while I get the tape." I instructed. Koda gave me the tape and offered to hold the belt piece. "Bad time to wear darker colors." I half joked. I taped the three pieces together. Once done, I tested it out. A long tail came from the bottom piece with brown spine spikes along the middle of the tail. There was a fan at the base of the tail while another at the tip. Scales made of paper lined most of the tail while trash bag lined the bottom of the tail. I went ahead and grabbed the torso section of the costume. Now, getting this piece on is a bit tricky but doable. The torso had the wings. I put each arm through the arm hole then into two straps on each wing arm. There were straps for each of my fingers to move the costume's wing fingers. I did not bother putting that on yet. The torso was webbed with unfinished scaling and brown spine spikes along the middle back of the costume just like the tail. "Can you get me the head piece, please." I asked. Koda quickly hands it to me. This piece had horns in the shape of outstretched lightning bolts. Scales filled the whole head. There were even neck coverings made out of scales. I put my head in and adjusted it so I could see and it would be comfortable. I looked down to put my hands in the finger straps. Once that was done. I shook my whole body to ship the costume into the right place and bringing the wings off the ground. "Now." The mouth moved on the costume. "Where can I spread my wings to show you the full ability of this costume?" I asked staring at Keeper then Koda. Both of them made their way out of the cave, and I followed.

In the main base, I cautiously looked around to see if Kendall was still around. She wasn't which made me relax. When there was enough space, I stopped. "Right. Stand a little back." The two stepped back a bit. When they were at a good distance, I shook the wings a bit then unfurled them spreading them as much as I could. I was standing on my toes, which was my idea in the first place. Koda looked amazed while Keeper stood there silently. "How do you like?" I said as I looked to both wings to see the wings falling over. I heavily sighed as I relaxed bringing my arms down.

"I looks great." Koda said with a big smile.

"I agree." Keeper put in his opinion. "How did you come up with the idea?"

I was somewhat not listening as I turned to show how flexible the tail was. I was knocked out of my daydream. "What?" I looked to Keeper. "Oh." I realized what he had asked. "Well, it simply started out with me loving dragons. I thought of what if I was a dragon. That night, I dreamt of myself changing. I woke and quickly drew it on a piece of paper before I forgot." I flexed my wings feeling more brave now that I had my costume on. "I drew it better afterward. I then had the idea of making a costume based off of it. First one turned out quite bad. The wings were thick in the fingers and the webbing was also made of paper. It made it really difficult and stuff. The tail was on the short side and would flip every time I turned or rose or dropped a level. I then made the tail longer. I was going to change the wings but Halloween was coming so I made puny ones. Then I changed the wings and finally went with these." I spread my wings a little as if gesturing to them. "This is how my costume came to be."

"What about that past life you talked about?" Koda asked.

I looked to Koda questioning what he was talking about. I even noticed Keeper with a similar expression. I took off the head piece for fresh air. I was still figuring out how to get fresh air with the mouth isn't open. "You can tell Keeper if you want, Koda." I yawned widely. "I need to sleep."

"I can?" Koda looked baffled. I nodded a yes then trudged back to the cave with my tail trailing behind. I took off the costume placing it all in the bag again. I then lay on the bedding getting cozy with the blue feather blanket over me. It was a blanket stuffed with chicken feathers. I closed my eyes and began to sleep as I listened to Koda telling Keeper what had told him. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.

Please tell me how I did on this fanfic. :3 If you need anything more, I can add them. Like detail for example.
