CRASH! As the man came through the window at incredible velocity, he flipped once before landing on the ground. The machines attached to his legs whined a little as he stood. They weren't used to the kind of stress that had been put on them. He heard sirens in the distance. He always hated cops, they were paid off by the Technocracy. Nobody but him and the girl knew he was here. Unless the beasts He swore under his breath, the beasts were implanted with cameras. The police had to have been tipped off.

He smiled at the little girl and started to run, the machines on his legs were helping him, even though he probably wouldn't need it. He was running for his life. Men and women alike run abnormally fast when faced with the fact that they may die. He ran and ran, eventually slowing to a stop in a city park. Sitting on a bench, the man held the girl on his lap. She was shaking from the cold, so he held on tightly. Holding on to the girl in one hand, he pressed a button on the side of his headset.

"Road Kill Grill, you kill 'em we grill 'em," Came the response.

"Julie it's me. I got the target," the man stated.

"Holy Crap, Tom, what happened? There was this story on the news about a break in at the warehouse, there was shots fired, it's like hell itself exploded there."

"Look, I'm fine, we may have a situation where your skills will come in handy," he said as softly as he could, trying not to frighten the girl.

"What? What's the matter?" Julie asked.

"Well," He was about to expound on the situation when his visor got a sign of life. Zooming in on it automatically, the visor showed vital statistics of the person walking towards them. Tom swore out loud and told Julie, "Meet me at the corner of Lake and Third in thirty minutes." Then he let go of the button on his headset. He gathered the girl in his arms and asked, "You wanna piggy back?"

The girl nodded in reply. Slinging her over his back, he told the girl right before he began sprinting, "Hold on, this could get a little bumpy."

Ya know you do a lot of this running around came the voice in his head.

"Shut up," he mumbled as he kept up the pace. The person following them hadn't sped up, but it seemed to be catching up. Running into the woods, he took a nearly straight-line path to his destination. His pursuer had taken to the trees and was now hopping from tree to tree to keep up. Jumping over logs in his way, Tom knew that it was only a matter of time before the person came within striking range. A moment sooner, a woman had let go of a button on nearly an exact copy of the headset Tom was wearing.

"He always does this..." she stated as she turned the key in her car's ignition. Engine roaring she quickly shifted gears to reverse and screeched backwards. She then stomped the necessary pedals to shift the car into gear. Julie had grown almost accustomed to this. She waited for the day that something happened to Tom. Maybe she would go crazy, maybe not. She never knew. To her, Tom was one hell of a wild ride and she had to keep up. Her skills made her an admirable partner, she was the one that told Tom he needed to find this little girl or else he would be in grave danger.

Back in the park though, Tom was facing danger of his own. Apparently, a Technocrat had followed him away from the warehouse. The Technocrat jumped in front of him and Tom came to a complete halt in very short distance, almost losing his balance. Sitting the girl down, Tom told her to hide and the girl complied quickly. He looked to his adversary. A woman this time, other times it had been a male. "So what are you going to do, shoot me?"

The woman said nothing but drew a high-caliber handgun. Tom drew his two silenced pistols and both began firing.

Julie slid the car to a screeching halt at the corner of the two roads. She checked her semi-automatic pistol hidden under her coat. Full of ammo, good. She had the feeling that Tom had found a way to get into trouble. Seeing flashes and hearing gunshots in a deeper part of the park, she swore and ran into the darkness.
