Rick

The party was pretty lame.

I was practically peer-pressured to come here. I'd found it hard to make friends in college after leaving the dumping ground. My roommate, Gary, said it would be fun and that I'd have a chance to meet new people. I had high expectations, but it wasn't brilliant.

I was standing in the middle of the crowd with a beer in my left hand, everywhere I looked, there were couples making out.

I couldn't help but feel a little bit left out, since having a fling with Carmen, I hadn't dated anyone properly. I decided to move out of the steamy scene and stand in the quieter area where people were talking and socialising.

Honestly, I had no idea who was hosting the house party and I didn't recognise anybody attending the party. I felt pretty stupid standing in the middle of the swarm of strangers.

But little did I know that they weren't all strangers.

Two girls caught my eye, one of them had a sleek, pale face with jet black hair and grey eyes. She was chatting with her friend who had her back to me, she had strawberry blonde hair growing down her back.

She seemed... familiar. I didn't know why she rang a bell. I was attending college in Essex, that's at least four hours away from Newcastle. I couldn't understand how any of my friends would be nearby when I'd lived up North for my whole childhood.

The mystery girl turned round, I couldn't believe it.

It was Tee.

She was actually standing there.

Her eyes met with mine and soon enough we were both standing there gaping at each other.

"Rick!" she exclaimed.

"Tee!" I replied, "What are you doing here?"

"I've just started at Essex University!"

"How's Johnny?"

Her smiley face saddened, she proceeded to tell me that she had not heard from him. I knew he had joined the army, he would never stop going on about it at the care-home. In fact I was there when the idea came to his mind, he helped a woman when she was getting mugged.

"I'm gonna go back with Chris, alright?" her drunken friend said, the boy she had her arm around looked equally as drunk.

"Okay Renee," Tee sounded fed up, as if she didn't like the fact that her friend was picking up random boys and bringing them home.

Suddenly, her face brightened up. She turned to me and said, "Hey, do you wanna come back to our place?".
