Fitz and his kids sat in the living room going over all of the nanny candidates with the owner of the nanny agency. The three of them knew who they wanted but this was just a formality.
"So, Mr. Grant, have you made a decision?"
"Poe!" Karen screamed
"Pope, she means Ms. Pope" Gerry corrected. "We want Miss Pope." She looked at Fitz for final approval, he nodded and smiled at her.
"We definitely want her."
Fitzgerald Grant was always an intelligent and charming man. So when he was pushed into a relationship with Melody Carmicheal, daughter and only child of Senator Carmicheal he became depressed, until his children came along. At 33 years old, Fitz had a successful career and a wonderful family but over the summer his wife left. She never wanted children and she never wanted this life style so she packed her things and left for California.
Olivia walked into the apartment with a huge smile on her face. She had a job, working with children. She knew she would be happy. When she walked into the living room and saw Stephen with a semi happy but very scared look on his face she knew something was wrong.
"Stephen, whats going on?" she asked. "Is someone dead?"
"No, it's not anyting like that, but I just heard back from Harvard about my internship..." He lead with. "It's actually for your dad..."she scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Well I'm not upset with you or anything, it's a great firm."
"Well, it wouldn't be here it's in New York." her stomach dropped. Her father was taking him away.
"Of course because he couldn't keep you in a branch here. That's so like him!"
"Liv, don't blame him."
"So when do you move?" she snapped at him.
"Two weeks." She rolled her eyes and turned away and went into her room. He ran right behind her, she slammed the door in his face. "Liv, we can figure something out. Why not move in with Jake, you've bee together for a while. Give it a try."
With a tear stained face, she opened the door. "If I wanted to live with Jake, I wouldn't be here."
"Liv, he's your boyfriend."
"He didn't even offer Stephen! I hinted around for weeks, and you know I can probably count on one hand how many times I've been to is place. Plus his roommates are disguisting."
"Liv, it's Jake, just ask."
"Fine. I we're going out tonight to celebrate anyway. I'll talk to him then." Stephen walked to Olivia with his arms wide open. He held her tight until she calmed down. "I'm going to miss you Stephen."
"We still have two weeks. So celebrating...I assume you found a job."
"I did. Now it's not exactly what I was looking for but it's with kids."
"Teaching?"
"No, I'm going to be a nanny for Senator Grant."
"Wow, that's different. But you'll like it. Congrats Liv."
Olivia and Jake pulled in front of La Creperie Bleue, the hotest French restuarant in the New England area. Jake got out of the car and walked to the valet and handed him the keys, he turned around and Olivia was still in the car, waiting for him to open the door. She got out and followed him through the door. The hostess smiled widely, "Hi Jake."
Olivia squinted her eyes at them. Olivia and Jake sat at a secluded table that the hostess, Shelly, picked for them. They ordered their wine and appetizers and were talking about their day. When their entrees arrived, she decided that she wanted to bring up her living situation.
"So, Jake, Stephen is moving to New York in a couple weeks. So I was thinking maybe we could move in together. Liv and Jake conquering the world. I have my job and you are in grad school and I-"
"Wow, Liv. I um, I'm going to have to stop you there. I brought you here tonight because I think we need to take a break. You're trying to find yourself and I'm in school and uf we moving in together is a big commitment I'm not ready for Liv."
"I had no idea you felt that way, I thought things were going well."
"Well they aren't going bad but ya know Liv we're young. Too young to be so serious."
"I understand." She replied calmly. "I'm going to use the bathroom and then we should probably go.
Olivia woke up the next morning hours later than usual, a missed call from Abby and an unknown number. She listened to the voicemails- Abby just asking about her job interview and the other from Senator Grant:
Hello Olivia, this is Fitz, uh Mr Grant, Senator Grant. I was just calling you to follow up on the job and see if you still wanted to still join the Grant family, uh as our nanny. Please give me a call back, the kids and I are excited and we want to get you moved in and started as soon as possible. Thank you.
A smile crept on her face. She didn't forget to call but it was the last thing on her mind. She was going to call and go over numbers and benefits. Knowing that she had place to live made her day a bit easier. So, she gave him a call.
"Hellllloooo this is Gerry Grant. How can I's help youuuuu?"
"Hello Mr. Gerry Grant. This is Olivia Pope, your new nanny, can you put your dad on the phone?"
"Yesh, DAAAAAAAAAD, the phone." he screamed.
"Senator Grant." he statedd. The sound of his voice made her smile instantly.
"Hello this is Olivia Pope, I recieved your message and would like to accept your offer. I would love to get started immediately."
"Sounds great. Can you stop by today and we can get the paperwork done and get you and the children formally introduced and show you around?"
"I will be there around 3pm. See you there Mr. Grant."
"See you then Miss Pope."
