Chapter 2
Eli sat at his usual spot in the cafeteria, thinking about the girl he had met by the locker. He took a swig of his juice and looked around for his best friend Adam. As he scanned the cafeteria, his eyes landed on Clare Edwards, his ex-girlfriend, who was sitting by herself reading a book. Ever since she had a mental breakdown, nobody hung around her much anymore. He had tried to understand, he tried to be there for her. But when she crashed his car, he couldn't handle her anymore. He scared her. "Thinking about Clare again?" asked a voice from behind him. He turned to see his best friend Adam with his girlfriend Fiona, holding their lunches. Eli nodded as the two sat down. "You know, there wasn't anything you could do" said Fiona. Eli sighed. "I wish it didn't have to end that way". Fiona patted him on the shoulder. "Im sure there is plenty more fish in the sea" she said. Adam nodded. "Yeah, she's right Eli" Eli downed the rest of his juice and started to stand. He had just spotted Ellie Nash. "Indeed you are Fiona, indeed you are" Eli waved to her and Ellie blushed, turning quickly away. Eli smiled. Whatever thoughts he had of Clare Edwards vanished…..
