Yes, here is the Mickey x Minnie one-shot that I promised to write months ago. Bow to my procrastinating skills!

Anyway, I'd like to thank my betas, Serexion (Serenitysfall), and Ai no Miko, who finally got me to come out of my self-conscious hole in the ground and continue to edit/write this story!

She was distraught. Her love had left. No goodbye. No comforting hug. No reassuring words. Only a short letter that briefly explained where he had gone, and why. Mickey had left, leaving her in charge of the entire Kingdom. She wanted desperately to lock herself in her (their) bed chamber and stay there until he returned, but she knew that that was not an option. Locking herself away would help absolutely no one, and would even go as far as to make her seem unfit to rule in herKing's absence. It would make her look weak, and she had to be strong for him, and the inhabitants of Disney Castle. How could she control an entire kingdom, when she could not even keep her emotions under control?

Now that the court wizard, Donald, and the captain of the royal guards, Goofy, were gone, there were very few people left who could protect her, and the kingdom. She herself could not fend off the shadow creatures on her own. A princess is never trained in combat, or even mild self-defense, for it isconsidered improper (which is why she, in secret, taught herself simple offensive spells). Knights and soldiers were hired for that type of work. Only paupers, and other women of the sort were expected to do do such things as learn to protect themselves and their kin from offenders.

She sighed, and rose from her throne, her mind made up. She had made her mind up, and, she hoped that it was the right decision.

For her King... for her kingdom... for her own self...

She would remain strong and look forward to better days, when Mickey would return, when he would declare that it was over and that he was back for good (promise), a time when she could finally relax.

Until then, she silently wished Mickey an easy journey, the best of luck, and all of the love her heart had to offer to see him through.
