Spottedleaf was dreaming. There was a mouse, oblivious to her, nibbling on some seeds. She crept into her best hunter's crouch, noticing the mouse was downwind of her. Stealthily, she began to creep forward. "That's right," she thought, "Keep eating your seeds while I catch you." Suddenly, the mouse must've noticed something, because it turned tail and ran away. "Mouse dung!" she cursed. Then, suddenly, she noticed a smell.

It was blood. Propelling her legs as fast as possible, she ran and ran until the stench grew stronger. There was Redtail, lying on the ground with a huge gash on his neck. His legs splayed uselessly behind him, his dull green eyes facing the stars. "No," whimpered Spottedleaf.

"Hello Spottedleaf," said a voice, "I've been waiting for you."

Spottedleaf whirled around, senses alert. Out of the shadows appeared, NO! It couldn't be... It was her lost sister, Pebblestream.

Pebblestream slid up to Spottedleaf, raking her long claws across Spottedleaf's shoulders. Spottedleaf stood, unbelieving. Then Pebblestream knocked Spottedleaf off her paws. She began to burrow in Spottedleaf's fur, slashing her belly violently.

"Help!" screeched Spottedleaf.

"No one is going to help you," hissed Pebblestream," No one at all."

Then all Spottedleaf could see was blood. Blood, blood and more blood. A river of crimson blood that belonged to her. And she was dead.

Spottedleaf awoke and shook her head. "No, " she decided "That was just a nightmare." But then why did the memory keep popping up?

Spottedleaf decided to see Pebblestream and make sure she was still unconscious. Pebblestream was fine, so she went to hunt with Redtail. Redtail was already hunting with Bluestar, so Spottedleaf decided to hunt alone. She caught nothing, because every time she spotted a piece of prey, it disappeared. Weary and exhausted, she fell asleep.
