Disclaimer: Hunter x Hunter and all related characters and whatnot don't belong to me. They all belong to Yoshihiro Togashi-sensei. The orphan idea wasn't mine, either.

tabula rasa

Two.

There are no innate ideas.

When he was orphaned, he learned that the world will not stop rotating for him, nor would it stop getting blurry. When the Matron picked him up and hugged him and hushed him to sleep, he learned that the world had not ended -- at least, not his. When he got hit by a ball on the side of his face and the older boy ran up to him, apologizing, then panicking because he didn't say or do anything except stare up at the older boy, he learned hope. When the same older boy got diagnosed by a disease, and he had to have an operation that the Matron (and all of the cents in all the children's piggybanks put together) couldn't afford, and then Pietro died, he learned that all the world needed and wanted was money -- and he'd be damned if he didn't get it.

A.N.: Un-betaed again. This one's a little longer, I think. I have no idea (read: forgot) where I got the idea of Leorio being an orphan... Maybe it was in the anime? Or maybe I got it from a fanfic... So the idea of Leorio being an orphan isn't mine. Credit goes to whoever thought of it. I basically took the different definitions of the title (tabula rasa) and "paired" them with the main HxH gang to come up with a short drabble of one paragraph.
