With Every Bit Of Sunshine, There Will Be A Bit Of Rain
Chapter Two- Starting Again
The following morning Ginny woke on Luna's bedroom floor, having escaped there for a breather but she knew she had to return for Fred's funeral. She sighed, looking in the mirror in her friend's room, admitting to herself she had seen better days before heading downstairs to take the floo back home.
'She is at Luna's, Molly. I trust her' Mr Weasley told his wife as she paced in their kitchen.
'Trust her? The girl has being doing god knows what with god knows who. She isn't in the right head space at the moment' Mrs Weasley replied, quickly.
'Jeez, Mum, thanks for the vote of confidence' Ginny said behind them. Mrs Weasley gasped and turned around but George had reached Ginny before Mrs Weasley, having come from upstairs and gave his sister a massive hug. She sighed and returned the hug after a moment.
'Please stop, Gin, whatever you doing when you go missing, I can't lose another one of you' He told her, holding back tears.
'Sorry' she mumbled, resting her head on his shoulder.
'Promise me, Ginny, please' He told her, pushing her back, his hands on her shoulders. She nodded before excusing herself to go and get ready.
Once she was ready, she headed back downstairs and saw her family were in the front garden. As she walked towards them, she caught eye of her parents' alcohol cupboard. She quickly hurried to it and opened it. She found a small bottle of whiskey. She couldn't think of another way to get through the day. It numbed her pain, like it numbed the pain she had whilst at school now she had even more pain to numb. She took a gulp of the whiskey, gasping at the bitterness and quickly tightening it, placing it in her bag.
Ginny was welcomed by a hug from Hermione as she walked outside. She smiled at the brushy haired girl as she pulled away.
The service was fairly short. Ginny really admired George for getting through that. His speech had brought a tear to her eye. They returned back to the Burrow for the wake. She excused herself and headed outside, sitting near the pond that her and her brothers would play as children. She took the bottle of whiskey from her bag and began to drink it.
'Got any of that for me?' A voice asked behind her. She turned and saw Ron. She half laughed and held out the bottle to him. He took it and sat next to her.
'Where have you been, Gin?' Ron asked, taking a sip.
'Here and there. You don't need to worry about me' She replied, shrugging.
'Of course I am going to worry about you, you are my little sister' He told her, putting an arm around her.
'Less of the little!' but she smiled at him, despite saying this.
'Can I tell you something?' He asked after a moment, changing the subject.
'Yeah, go on. What's wrong?' She replied, raising an eyebrow.
'Nothing, well I don't think anyways. But me and Hermione… there was a moment during the battle. Well, we kissed' He answered her, going red a little.
'Wow, you chose your moments!' Ginny exclaimed, smiling and gave him a squeeze.
'I don't know what to do about it. We haven't talked about it' He replied, sighing. She rolled her eyes and stood up.
'Fred would never forgive me if I didn't do for you. Come on' She told him, holding out her hand.
'What do you mean?' Ron asked, alarmed and stood up.
'To get you your girl, come on. He would want the day to be remembered for something positive' She replied, starting to walk.
'I'll talk to Hermione if you talk to Harry' He shot at her. She turned around and narrowed her eyes at him.
'You are a crafty bugger, Ronald Weasley. Fine' she replied after a moment.
'You two have a lot to talk but go easy on the bloke, eh, Gin? I know he has missed you as you have missed him. I don't wanna see any bat bogey's coming from him alright?' He proclaimed as they began to walk.
'Go on' Ron whispered to her as they reached The Burrow again. She sighed and rolled her eyes.
Ginny found Harry talking to Fleur who saw her approaching and gave her a small smile.
''ll excuse myself' Fleur told them, giving Ginny's arm a squeeze as she walked past.
'Hey, Gin, are you okay?' Harry asked her, giving her a small smile.
'Not here, can we talk outside?' He nodded, putting down the drink he was holding and followed her outside. She walked out towards the trees to give them some privacy.
'I kinda made a deal with Ron that I'll talk to you if he talked to Hermione but now I don't know what to say' She admitted, biting her lip.
'Why don't you start with what you want to say? I know you want to say something. I've seen you holding your tongue around me. Well, when you are here anyways' He replied. She sighed and nodded.
'I am torn how I am meant to feel like now. To be honest, I am torn between slapping you for dying but then I wanna kiss you because you are actually alive' she told her, running her hands through her.
'I don't think either will achieve anything at this moment in time. We need to talk before anything' He told her, taking her hand.
'I knew it! You met a veela didn't you?' She questioned, snickering.
'You caught me' He replied, laughing.
'Okay, I am gonna kill her' She said, laughing.
'It is good to see you laughing. For a moment there I didn't think I'd see it again' He told her, giving her hand a squeeze that he was still holding.
'Harry, where have you been?' Ginny asked, after a moment, serious.
Meanwhile in the front garden of the Burrow, Ron was pacing, overthinking what he should say to Hermione.
'Ron, are you okay?' Hermione asked him, her eyes not leaving his.
'I need to know what happened in the Battle. Was it a heat of the moment thing or…?'
'I think you already know the answer to that, Ronald' she admitted, sighing.
'How long?' He asked, looking at her instantly.
'I think always' She replied, smiling.
'Same' He said, before walking over and kissing her.
'OI! Ronniekins, it's a funeral!' Charlie exclaimed as he walked outside the Burrow 'And don't think I can't see you there, Harry and Ginny. Sort your shit out and get in here, Dad wants to make a speech'
Ginny laughed as she watched Charlie go back inside. She looked back at Harry.
'You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I understand my place' She sighed before heading back inside.
She felt herself getting more drunk as the wake went on until it came to a point Harry walked towards her, looking concerned.
'Gin, you don't look so good. Come and sit down for a moment' he told her, trying to grab her hand.
'Urgh, what-'but before she could finish her sentence, she rushed upstairs where she made it in time to the bathroom to be sick. Harry quickly ran after her, holding her hair back as she was sick.
'Are you okay, Ginny?' he asked, as he rubbed her back. She sighed, flushed the toilet and turned around. He took some toilet roll and wiped before throwing it in the bin besides the toilet.
'Please, just don't leave me again, I don't think I could handle it' she replied, taking his hand.
'I am not going anywhere, as long as you want me, I'll be here' he told her, pulling her into hug, tucking her head under his head.
'I will always want you' she replied, softly and allowed herself the moment to be his arms once more.
