Throughout the rest of your day the two of you made it a point to not over do the friendliness. You went about you day as usual, only changing a few things about how you acted around each other. You didn't talk much, but that was because neither of you were big talkers, but if you just happened to be around each other you would stand closer than normal, exchange smirks or glances or if the timing felt right, Daryl would throw his arm around your shoulders or wrap his arm around your waist. Just being closer, you could feel a bond being formed. You couldn't lie to yourself, Daryl's touch sent shivers throughout your body. But all of this only made you even more nervous about spending the first night in his tent with him.

Everything was going fine, that was until around sunset when you, Daryl, Rick, Shane and Andrea were standing around the hood of the car going over where had been looked over for Sophia. When the discussion was over you and Daryl hung back at the truck having your own discussion about where Sophia could be when Shane interrupted. "So you two are keeping up the charade huh?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." you say not looking up from the map, but you felt Daryl slide his arm around your waist and give your side a light squeeze.

"Seriously? You're going to play dumb?" Shane asked with a shit eating grin. You just ignored him. "Alright, fine, if you two are really together then you wont have a problem kissing."

You stiffened and glared at Shane. "We don't have to prove anything to you." you answered as you moved out of Daryl's arm and walked around him to stand in front of Shane. "Because regardless of what you think, I will never be interested in a egotistical, ass hat like you."

"Feisty, I like it." he said with a wiggle of his brows.

You saw red and the next thing you knew Daryl had your raise fist in his hand, stopping you from hitting Shane. "Okay, that's enough." Daryl told you as he hooked an arm around your waist, spun you around and started walking off ushering you along with him. "I'll have to remember to never piss you off." he laughed.

"Damn straight." you said, still boiling from Shane and his ruthlessness.

Daryl just smirked and shook his head. "Come on, Spit Fire, lets get us some dinner." you smirked at him and his nick name for you.

Carol saw the two of you and how you both looked happy and smiled at you as you sat down on a blanket that was near the fire. She also didn't miss the fact that when you sat up on your knees to fix a plat of food, Daryl discreetly checked you out. He quickly looked up at your face when you turned around and handed him the plate.

After dinner and the usual conversation, bed time rolled around. After several of the other members turned in for the night, Daryl stood and held his hand out to help you up. You took it and let him help you to your feet. "Goodnight everybody." you told the group like you usually did and they chimed a good night back.

When you came to Daryl's tent he held the door open for you and you ducked inside. He followed in behind. When you looked around you saw that he had grabbed your back pack and sleeping bag from your tent. Your back pack sat in the corner while your sleeping bag was spread out on the floor next to his. "I hope you don't mind that I grabbed your stuff, figured you'd want it."

"No, I appreciate it." you told him as you walked over to your bag and started digging around for something comfortable, but suitable to wear on run from walkers if the occasion arose in the middle of the night. Once you found a tank top and a pair of athletic shorts you turned to Daryl. "Do you mind?" you asked as you made a twirling motion with your finger.

"Mm hmm." he hummed then turned around so you could get dressed. After a minute or two you gave him the okay to turn around. As soon as his eyes landed on you his hand flew to his mouth. You looked down and smirked, finding the fact that you made him nervous amusing.

Not knowing what else to do, you slid into your sleeping bag and tucked your arm behind your head. Daryl, without taking off his shirt or jeans followed suit and slid into his sleeping bag. "You're not gonna get comfortable?" you asked and he just shrugged. "Alright, suit yourself." you said before you turned your back on him and closed your eyes.

A few minutes later you were pulled out of your half asleep state by a rustling sound. When you turn to look at Daryl you saw him sliding back into his sleeping bag, no longer wearing a shirt. You couldn't help but notice the scars that covered his upper torso. Some looked like slash marks while other were tiny circular scars that looked like cigarette burns. He cleared his throat, getting your attention, and you looked at his face to see him glaring at you. "Sorry." you apologized and turned onto your back to look up at the canvas ceiling of the tent. "I didn't mean to stare."

He tucked his arm behind his head with a grunt. "Na, 's alright." he told you quietly. "G'night."

"Night." you chimed back. He could hear the distant sound in your voice, but was afraid to ask what was wrong. No matter how hard you tried to go to sleep you couldn't. So you turned on your side to see Daryl's moonlit blue irises staring off in the distance. "Daryl?" you asked and he hummed back. "I can't help but wonder, what were your thoughts earlier today when Shane tried to get us to kiss?" he just shrugged. "Come on, work with me here." you pushed and he sighed.

"I don't know." he grunted and you rolled your eyes. How could he not know what he was thinking? "What were you thinking?" he asked and you suddenly felt panicked. You didn't expect him to turn the question around on you.

"I don't know." you answered. "Mainly how much I hate Shane." Your eyes slid down to Daryl's thin lips. "But also that as much as I hate Shane, he has a point. We're probably going to have to kiss in front of the others at some point. I mean, I've seen Glenn and Maggie kiss and Rick and Lori kiss all the time." When you looked up from Daryl's lips you saw him glaring at you. "Or I could be overthinking things." you said dismissively turning your eyes to the floor of the tent.

Daryl thought about it for a second before he spoke up. "You're not overthinking it."

"Really?" you asked looking back at him.

"Na, you're right. We should give it a try." he suggested and you felt yourself blush again.

"Like, spontaneously or should we get the awkwardness over with now?" you asked sitting up in your sleeping bag and straightening your top.

Daryl sat up revealing his naked torso that you tried your best to keep your eyes off of. "Whatever." he shrugged his shoulder drawing your attention to it. You swallowed hard, nerves getting the best of you.

"Um," you said swallowing hard as you took your eyes off of him and moved to sit Indian style on your sleeping bag, "Might as well get the awkwardness out of the way."

"Alright." Daryl said as he leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours without warning. The kiss only lasted about two seconds before he pulled back.

You just stared at each other in shock at what just happened. And Daryl's hand made it's way to his mouth to nervously chewed on his thumb. "Wow." you sighed, not knowing what else to say. Daryl hummed in agreement. You smirked and stood up on your knees as you pulled his hand from his mouth. "Let's do that again." You whispered as you pressed your lips to his.

Your heart raced as his lips massaged yours. You felt light headed and swayed on your knees, so you placed a hand on Daryl's shoulder to steady yourself. He gently grasped your waist and pulled you in to straddle his sleeping bag cover lap. Now that you were steady, this kiss deepened. Your lips parted allowing his warmth to over come you even further as your tongues found each other. You moaned and slid your hand up from his shoulder to his neck as your other hand found his bicep.

Daryl's hands moved from your waist around to caress your back sending a shiver though your body. You arched your back pressing your chest closer into his. Daryl moaned and held you tighter, not breaking the kiss as he leaned you back onto his sleeping bag. He steadied himself by pacing his hands on each side of your head then pulled back to look into your eyes. You just stared at each other for a while, lost in the moment and the feel of your hands on his chest. You slid your hands up from his chest to rest on his neck. "So I guess we're not pretending anymore?" he asked brushing your hair out of your face with his right hand.

"Were we ever really?" you asked with a smirk as you brushed your thumb along his jawline. He just smirked back as he leaned down and pressed his lips back to yours.
