I've always wanted to try a Beast Girl character. So decided to go ahead with this as the first major character change – same personality as beast boy but just genderflipped.
The day seemed like a good one, sun was shining, and birds were chirping. A relief from the chaos and damage that occurred the previous day from Cyborgs abuse of, and subsequent separation to, the Maximum-7 chip. The chip refined Cyborg and let him truly excel at everything. It turned the big and boisterous man into a driven machine, at the cost of his humanity of course.
Thankfully that was behind the Titans as he overloaded the chip and learned, at least somewhat, the dangers of relying on something you don't really understand is.
Although that does not mean he did not wake up with a hangover.
"Uuugh" escaped from the large man as his human side began to wake up along with his machine side. It felt like he was completely ran over with a truck, which wouldn't be a unique sensation to him as a superhero, but it was certainly different to feel the fatigue and headaches.
He figured part of that feeling was he got so used to being amped up that going back to where he was before felt gross, if he were to admit it. Another part was the Maximum-7 was intoxicating and he did have to admit he wasn't able to resist the sirens call of effortlessly making himself better and better, even if it cost him his soul.
The wires broke off as his charging was completed and staggering only slightly before his internal gyroscope, both mechanical and biological. It was amazing how well the parts of his body worked together sometimes, how so seamlessly it all meshed together. How the machinery blended so beautifu-
His stomach gurgled.
That broke him out of his personal musing to realize that he was famished, it felt like he hadn't eaten in years. Possibly a side effect of the amplification of the Maximum-7.
The door swished quietly as it opened, allowing him to walk out of his room down to the main lobby.
From where he was the only sounds he could hear was the TV playing some show about Fungus, most likely Starfire was spending time with Silkie watching another one of her shows. Cyborg liked her from the day they had met. She was weird but not only did she own up to it but she just enjoyed being alive. It was a relief to him to be next to someone who, even after all the horrifying things she had went to, not only survived but thrived. She imbued him with a sense of hope.
He entered the Lobby but there was not a soul to be seen, the TV was indeed on to the nature channel but there was no one sitting on the large couch. Shrugging he went to the kitchen and begin to rummage around.
The fridge was full of all the stupid vegetables, tofu and almond milk of Beast Girl just sort of thrown in there with no real care. If he were to be honest he didn't really mind eating things like tofu and vegetables but they would never be as satisfying or delicious as meat.
Pulling out a package from the fridge labeled Tofurky, he just didn't understand. If she were a vegan then why even bother with meat substitutes in the first place. The only people that ate substitute meats were those that used to eat meat and wanted something like it. From what she said she had not eaten meat for years so why continue this?
Putting it back he spied his delicious prize near the back, a huge ham hock that he had lovingly prepared a few days ago. It had a minor bit of fridge musk on it but he just couldn't care about it and chowed in, standing over the sink to catch anything that missed getting into his mouth.
Beast Girl was a bit of an oddity as well. She was his best friend and he always saw her as his little sister that got herself into trouble and he had to pull her ass out of the fire on more than one occasion.
Although he had to admit she did the same in return.
The green bean was just a handful at times, though, especially when she got doused with a mess of god knows what and ended up turning into some sort of yeti-cat-snake-whatever it was and they had to sort out if she tried to kill Raven only to find out that she was only trying to protect her.
He still felt bad about accusing her, logically he understood that it made sense to question her since all the evidence they had could only point to her as the culprit but emotionally it sucked.
To Cyborg Beast Girl felt like a sense of resilience, no matter how badly she got crushed down she always managed to bounce back and grow stronger from it. No matter how many times she failed she kept on coming back and she just didn't stop.
Although it doesn't matter how many times she loses, she'll never beat him at any video game.
His thoughts were broken once he realized he had finished his meat a while ago and was just gnawing on the bone distractedly. Throwing it away and washing up he started to hear the impact of fists on a punching bag.
That could only be Robin and started walking to the gym to see if he knew where everyone else was.
Robin was, to him, an inspirational person. He had no powers but as he clearly remembered was more than able to soundly beat the other four up when they hadn't realized he was Red-X. He was the kind of leader that the titans needed, Beast Girl and Starfire were too emotional, Raven was too logical and he could admit that he was too passive, the Maximum-7 was the most out of the beaten path he had done in his life other than join the Teen Titans.
Robin, however, was logical to the point of sensibility and emotional to the point of passion. He was driven, fair, praised publicly and critiqued privately. Unfortunately, he had to make difficult choices but the protégé of Batman was capable of handling it.
He was there, clad in compression clothing sans mask, punching the bag precisely and with purpose.
Ever since Cyborg created the hologram rings, Robin opted to use the ring to change his body composition slightly and his face in distinct ways to make it impossible to figure out who Robin really was. He was skinnier and blander featured, much more unassuming and easier to get lost in a crowd. Exactly the way Robin liked it as he preferred being underestimated.
Robin was determination. He just did not stop. It didn't matter how impossible things seemed, his spirit was unbreakable, and he just didn't quit or rather he couldn't quit – it just wasn't possible for him to do so.
"Yo Robin what's up" he yelled to his leader, over the sounds of exertion.
Breaking him out of his fighting trance, Robin grabbed the bag mid-swing and looked at the person who called out.
"Oh hey Cyborg, you're up. Are you ok, are you feeling good?" Robin asked as he started walking over to their resident mechanical wizard.
"Yeah I'm doing alright, just a little sore you know from all the moving around yesterday" he joked, choosing to omit the severity. "Where is everyone else, anyway?" He asked.
Robin thought for a moment but then shook his head gently "Not sure man, I'm sure they're probably at their usual spots but no one came around to tell me where."
He understood, he had a bad habit of leaving to go to a car show himself without really letting anyone know. Probably should stop doing that in case something happens but oh well.
"Alright thanks, I'll go take a walk and try to stretch out a bit" he said as he turned and began walking away.
"Sounds good, we still need to go over the details of the Maximum-7 whenever you're ready" Robin informed him right before he left the room.
He grimaced.
Perfect.
