Interview With A Demon

Chapter 2: Thieving

* * *

Hey Dark, why'd you agree to this interview?

Like I said, if Krad'll do it, I'll do it. I can't let that damn blondy show me up.

Um. . . okay.

** *

I laugh at Daisuke as the young red-head shakes his head. We're in his form right now, walking down the street to the museum to stake out our next target. I'm excited about it, since I heard that Creepy Boy is setting up a really good trap this time.

* * *

Don't call him Creepy Boy.

Why not? You in love or something?

No!

* * *

I laugh as the boy flushes as red as his hair. I can't see it, but I can feel the rush of embarrassment and know he's red. I lean back in the space in his head that I have, laughing,

* * *

All right, I'll stop teasing you there. What are we stealing?

The. . . "Darkness of the Heart."

Hmm. . . Never heard of it.

Dad said it's a Hikarii artwork that brings out the darkness in one's heart. It apparently pulls the evil out of people.

And that's a bad thing?

It causes them to go evil, to turn dark.

Hm. Well. . . we'll just have to seal that.

All right.

Wiat is it with the Hikariis and their stupid artworks?

What do you mean?

Their damn artworks keep trying to kill people. Gah.

* * *

I watch through Daisuke's eyes as he walks into the museum, smiling at the lady behind the welcome desk. She smiles back, handing him a map of the exhibits, although he does not need it. We know the museum by memory by this point, having traversed it many times. We walk into the main room where the lights are shining on a new display. It is a delicate coronet, glistening in the light, covered with sparkling diamonds. Daisuke leans closer, a soft breath from his lips leaving a slight sheen of fog on the glass.

* * *

Wow. . . it's so beautiful.

I guess that's why it corrupts everyone.

Yeah. That would make sense.

So Daiki wants us to seal it?

Yeah.

Then seal it we shall.

* * *

I place Daisuke's hand on the glass, feeling the magic pulse through the glass. I frown as I feel the power of the dark magic flowing through the piece.

"Beautiful, is it not?" A low voice asks from behind us.

Daisuke jumps, then turns, stuttering over his words. ". . .Hi Satoshi!"

"Hello Daisuke." Satoshi's blue eyes spark slightly as he sees the piece behind us. He is the only person outside of our family who knows our secret, well . . .Satoshi and Grace, but that is all.

"Um. . . what's going on?"

I laugh at how badly Daisuke's voice is shaking. He's so excitable.

"It is a beautiful piece, is it not?" Satoshi asks softly, leaning towards the piece. "The 'Darkness of the Heart.' You're planning to steal it tonight, right?"

"Um. . ."

"There is no need for you to answer. I already know. Dark sent out the warning letter yesterday. We have been preparing." He looks up, meeting Daisuke's eyes, his cornflower gaze burning into my gaze through Daisuke's. "I am warning you, Dark. This time it will not be as easy for you."

I smirk slightly, using Daisuke's mouth to speak. "That's what you think."

Satoshi arches one eyebrow, then turns, bowing slightly, disappearing into the crowd.

Daisuke releases a sigh as soon as Satoshi leaves our vision.

* * *

Dark?

I can still do it. Don't worry, Dai.

All right. . .

I won't let you get hurt.

Thanks.

* * *

I laugh, cutting the wires that rigged the alarm on the case. When I finsh, I let Daisuke know we can go home. We head back to the house and he does his homework while I sleep, getting ready for tonight. Twenty minutes before when I'm supposted to be at the museum, we swap places and Emiko comes in, giving me what I'm supposted to wear tonight. That woman must think that I cannot dress myself. Well. . .the only reason I allow her to do this, the only reason I wear what she picks out for me, is because of what she went through as a child. I smile at her, dressing quickly, calling Wiz, then flying towards the museum. Excitement floods my being as I notice the floodlights smearing the cloudy sky with light. I dive into them, freezing just long enough for everyone to notice me, then I disappear into the museum, running down the halls, my wings trailing behind me.

* * *

This is fun. And relitavely easy!

Be careful.

Yeah, Creepy Boy probably set something up.

* * *

As soon as I speak the words, Krad appears from around the corner, blocking my access to the piece.

"Ah, speak of the devil." I smirk.

Krad doesn't respond, just releases an energy ball at me. I dodge it easily, slipping around behind him, hitting him in the back with an energy ball. He stumbles forward with a sharp yell. I use his moment of distraction to break the glass around the case, grabbing the coronet. The black magic within the piece pulses through my hand and I quickly stuff it into my bag.

* * *

Dai, we gotta get out of here. If I hold onto this piece too long, it'll start to effect us.

Okay.

This probably means that I have to hurt Creepy Boy.

Don't call him that. Why?

I'll call him whatever I want to. Because if I don't injure Krad, I'll never get away in time.

* * *

I guess Daisuke hears the note of panic in my voice, since he replies with a muttered 'fine.' I can feel the black magic permeating the bag, climbing my leg. I create an energy ball, releasing it quickly into Krad's face, then another one into his gut. He is blown backwards, coughing and I blast out of the window, flying for freedom. Krad tails me, shooting balls of energy at me. Rather than stop and fight, I keep flying, speeing for home. Krad finally drops off, deciding that I am a rather boring target tonight. I drop down in front of the door to the Niwas' home, kicking the door open. I flat out run down the hall, skidding into the living room, dropping the pouch on the table.

Daiki looks up at me, then nods. "That dark, eh?"

"Yeah."

"We should begin the sealing process then."

"Right."

I hold up a black feather and he places his hands over it, hovering above the piece by about six inches. We chant the sealing spell together, working to seal the piece. The piece begins to fight us and I struggle to keep my magic flowing. Finally, the piece dies, going still. I touch it and feel nothing, releasing a sigh. I stumble backwards, drained, switching with Daisuke.

* * *

Gah. . .

Are you okay, Dark?

I'll be fine. I just neeed rest. It's a good thing that Krad stopped chasing us.

Yeah.

Well. . . we got that sealed. Now I'm going to sleep.

All right. Good night, Dark.

Night Dai.

* * *

I dim the connection, laying back in my corner of Daisuke's mind, hooking my arms behind my head, soon dropping off to sleep, trying to restore the loss of energy that has happened. I am glad the piece is sealed. It was too dangerous. . . blackness takes over me and I think no more.

* * *

A/N: Well. . . that was interesting. I hope it's good and ya'll like it. If it totally sucks, let me know it sucks and how I can change it and I will take those comments into consideration and work on it!

It's hard to write from Krad's POV, then jump over and write from Daisuke's POV.

Anyway, ask any questions you may have!!
Thanks to intelligenceisstupid, DawnsEternalTwilight, and The Lantern. I hope ya'll enjoy this as much as you enjoy IWAA!
