Chapter 1

Though that's what he is. The sun. The cold, cold sun.

Help me…

HELP ME… please god don't let me die now.

Sanzo put his hand up to his head running his fingers through his hair, his head throbbing slightly as he slumped back into his seat after yelling at the two. Hakkai glanced at him questionably.

"Is something wrong?"

Sanzo's eyes looked to the side, still facing forward and his hand still on his face and fingers through his hair.

"Its nothing- it's just those two asses making a racket back there."

He lied, closing his eyes and leaning forward once again resting his elbow on his knee and face on his hand. Hakkai smiled, also facing the road ahead.

"Well knowing you Sanzo, you don't really get too frustrated over the two of them… or so I think. Anyway…"

His voice got quieter so the other two wouldn't hear. And as Sanzo looked over his head was tilted lowly, as if he was very suspicious of something happening; his hair leaving a shadow over his eyes so Sanzo couldn't see them.

"I hear it too."

"Wha-" But then the young voice of Goku and the surprised voice of Gojyo interrupted him.

"What is that?!"

"Hey Hakkai look out!"

They both yelled out at the same time, making Hakkai confused as he was previously not really concentrating on the rode and more as the mysterious voice. He didn't understand what they meant until he caught something almost directly above his eye. He pressed down hard on the peddle, avoiding the thing; whatever it was from hitting them. It hit right in front of them, causing dirt and dust to rise quickly from impact all around them. The car stopped abruptly, thrusting most of them forward where they sat.

"What… exactly… happened."

Gojyo gasped between coughs, trying to look around although the dirt was everywhere in the air. He could hear the others' coughs as well as he jumped out of jeep to the side. Hakkai got out of the jeep as well, followed by Goku and then finally Sanzo. As the dust finally cleared up, they all looked around. Sanzo was obviously annoyed by whatever it was that had caused them to do such as little as leave the vehicle, and he stood with one hand on his hip and the other hanging down clutching his gun lazily.

Goku wiped his eyes as he looked around.

"There's… nothing here."

He spoke puzzled, lifting his arms up on the back of his head casually as he often did. Gojyo looked around, his eyes half opened tiredly as he walked around for a bit with a slumped posture, his hands in his pockets. Sanzo merely took out another cigarette, placed it in his mouth pulling out his lighter uncaringly. Just as he had raced the lighter to the tip of the cigarette had he spotted a weathered color of red beneath the jeep. He walked over to whatever it was and tapped it with his foot. Feeling the shape of it, he figured it to be human.

Did we run someone over?

"Find something Sanzo?"

Hakkai questioned, looking Sanzo's way, eyes blinking. Sanzo didn't respond, as he flicked his lighter finally lighting the cigarette as smoke emerged from the tip. It's not like if he gave a response it would stop him from coming or anything, as Hakkai was already by his side bent down staring curiously below the jeep. A confused and worried small high pitched sound very likely to a kitten's meow came from somewhere from the jeep. Hakkai paid no attention to it.

"Hey, you guys find something?"

Goku called turning to them, slightly excited with all that was happening. He ran up to them quickly, wanting to see if they had found the blur that they saw falling from the sky. He bent down by Hakkai, looking at the mangled object right aside the tire.

"Hey, that's-"

"…A chick…"

The low voice of Gojyo came over his shoulder also staring down under the car. Goku would usually yet at him to get away, but a strange awkward silence lingered in the air as if they were all trying to figure out the who situation. The silence didn't last long, as the group finally seemed to take hold of the situation, Hakkai slowly reached for the body pulling it closer in a melancholy like manner. The other just stared curiously, still wondering how and why she came falling from the sky.

It was clear day with a blue sky, without a cloud in sight. The sun was setting, and the nearest town was still about three hours away, and they were in the middle of the desert. There was just no reason for it, and it almost seemed ridiculous and obscure. So much so that it didn't feel real, like it was from a dream that most of them felt fake in a way.

"Is she dead?"

The short brunette asked tilting his head to the side, hoping she wasn't. The answer seemed too obvious, as no one could survive a fall clear from- well, no one really knew. Gojyo was staring intently at the girl blinking uncertainly, as Sanzo casually and lazily looked around the area smoking his cigarette.

"Damn, she was just an inch away from the tires. Just a little bit more and we would have defiantly ran her over. Not that it would matter though, she's… probably already dea-"

"Ah, she's not… she's alive!"

Hakkai spoke very surprised with his index and middle finger on the girls' neck feeling a purse.

"Really?"

Goku spoke happily and excitedly, not really caring how odd it was that she WAS alive.

"What the- you've gotta be shittin' me."

Gojyo said with a look of disbelief, his eyes wide; but after sometimes his lips couldn't help but raise into a smirk at how unlikely the whole situation. And Sanzo just looked over, glancing at the three marveling at this mangled girl who was apparently still alive. He just shrugged, took out his cigarette and exhaled.

Hakkai held his hands hovering over her body as a soft glowing light emitted from them. His hands drifted to wherever on her body that looked like he could heal any wounds.

"Well that's really all I can do… All I could heal were her cuts." He said sighing.

"You can see her face more clearly now"

Goku said almost cheerfully. He seemed excited about the whole situation- finding a body and the road and such. He could sense that something big was going to come from this. Mainly because the whole event wasn't normal at all, and soon maybe they could get an explanation from the girl.

"We better get her to the next town. Just because she appears to be alive now, may not mean she'll make it."

Hakkai said worriedly, about to pick up the motionless girl, but then Gojyo swiftly yet gently lifted her from Hakkai. Gojyo smirked as Hakkai looked up at him blankly.

"She'll be in the back with us, so I might as well take her."

He said teasingly winking and smirking, heading to the jeep which let out another feline-like noise. Hakkai simply stood up, letting out a concerned sigh.

"Please be careful with her."

He said heading back to the jeep with out a delay as well as the rest did. Gojyo carried the girl with him to the back of the jeep as Goku followed annoyingly close to Gojyo.

"Move ya Monkey!"

He said trying to set the girl down and shoving Goku away.

"No! I just wanted to get a good look at her… and I'm making sure you don't do anything back to her! You might have necrophilia or something!"

He yelled back at the red head; which may have seemed like a joke if Goku wasn't so mad at Gojyo's rudeness.

"Hey, I only do stuff like that with chicks that are alive and willing!"

Gojyo yelled back at him, his concentration lost from the girl to yelling at goku for a moment but than trying to make sure the girl was in a good position as the jeeps started and they drove off. He looked back at Goku.

"And she's not dead, and hopefully it will stay that way." His eyes went back to examining the girl. "… and she is pretty hot…"

He said with a smirk with that perverted look he used. Goku's head came near the girls', which is exactly where Gojyo didn't want him to be and he made an angry face and was about to say something when the small boy spoke.

"It looks like she's been crying…"

He blinked in that way that was just so damn innocent and cute. Gojyo looked confusedly at Goku, than looked back down at the girl. Her cheeks were tear stained, yet she had a calm peaceful look on her face. She had red hair, like his; which instantly made Gojyo wonder if she could be like him, taboo. He almost hoped that behind those closed eyelids there was no crimson color. He hoped that; that this girl hadn't had to go through what he had to.

Yet the hair was mangled and uncared for- which Gojyo couldn't tell if it was from the fall or from where ever she was before then. In fact, she looked uncared for and dirty all over; which yet again that could have been from her fall to the dusty and dirty earth. On her neck was a black band lined with gold. It seemed like such a delicate item that he barely even dared to touch it. And what the girl wore was an off white dirty type dress cloth that was torn in many places.

Wonder where she came from… Gojyo frowned scratching the back of his head puzzled. He leaned back in his chair glancing at the girl's face by him than looking up in the sky. Goku watched him for a moment, than leaned back where he was; which ended up being at the other end of the jeep away from Gojyo. He turned his head slight to look at the seat in front of him where Sanzo was.

"Damn, I'm hungry…" He complained as he always did about food. "How much longer until we get to the next town?"

"I suppose two more hours or so, I'm not sure now- I suppose I've lost track of time." Hakkai spoke with an innocent smile answering Goku's question. "But I see that we may be in quite a rush this time… so would you mind going faster, Hakuryuu?" He talked to the jeep, considering that the girl's life may be hanging by a thread. The mew can again from somewhere within the jeep and they accelerated a lot faster.

"Wow, why don't we go this fast all the time, Hakkai??" The boy looked around the side of the jeep watching object past by quickly amazed by the speed.

"Well if we did… than Hakuryuu would get tired easily…" Hakkai spoke reasonably, concentrating on the rode ahead.

"Today's an exception. You can do it, right Hakuryuu?"

Hakkai smiled as the small cat sound came from the jeep again assuring. Sanzo was sitting quietly this whole time in his seat, his eyes closed and his arms folded. The speed of the jeep made his blonde hair wave backwards against the pressure of the wind. To him everything seemed a lot quieter. And not just because Gojyo and Goku weren't arguing; but because the voice… had completely stopped. He rubbed his temple frustratingly.
