Chapter Two

Amber and James started to gently clean their sister who only looked at herself with drained eyes. Sofia sometimes would blame herself for getting sick or for why they couldn't be with their friends but he twins knew that it wasn't.

As for soaking her dress with urine? They knew it wasn't her fault. Her body was weak and that unfortunately meant that her body couldn't control itself like it used to when she had been well.

Sofia cuddled her doll gently, sniffing softly as she hugged it for it was the only thing that kept her going despite her weakening state.

"Sofia your doll needs to change her outfit too," Amber said gently, taking the doll out of her sister's hands. "I'll be back okay."

"No!" Sofia screamed with tears going down her face.

"Princess Amber! Prince James! What have your father and I said about upsetting your sister?" Cedric growled, gently taking Sofia in his arms before rubbing her back. "Sofia, it's okay."

"A-Amber tired to take my doll away."

"Sofia, she would never do that. Unless she had a reason to."

"Her doll just needs to be changed. Sofia got her nightgown wet. Sofia, I'll make sure your doll is good as new," Amber assured, seeing Cedric's softened expression. "I know you want to do it but not until you're better."

"She's right. I'll place a dry spell on your bed and have Violet wash you. But we know it's not your fault," Cerdic smiled. "We all want you better, Even your mother."

"When can I see her?" Sofia coughed.

:I'll ask Dad to see if you can see Mom,"James promised. "I know you feel bad for giving it to her but she's okay.

"It's my fault for getting sick then."

"No it's not Sof. So you're pale and thinner than usual but when you're better, we'll make sure that you eat enough and do what you used to instead of laying in bed."

"But I'm not! Don't you understand?! I am not getting better!" Sofia coughed, almost violently before breathing laborly.

"Get Doctor Landon now!" Cedric hissed, trying to hide the tears in his eyes at the reality that Sofia might be dying.

James headed out of Sofia's room and took off his mask , banging the doctor's door, hoping he would answer. "Doctor Landon! Cedric needs you in Sofia's room!"

"She's still not well?" Doctor Landon frowned.

"No Doctor Landon. I know Sof is dying but she wants to see our mom, Queen Miranda, before she goes."

"Your mother has been asking the same thing. I would hate to not grant Sofia's wish. This sickness has already taken away her color and strength."

"What's causing this sickness?! There's got to be something we can find!" Amber demanded with tears flowing down her cheeks. "We need Sofia. I need her!"

"Princess Amber! Come back here!" Doctor Landon yelled as the older princess ran down the hallway.

She stopped at Sofia's room and forgot about her mask, gently stroking her hair.

"Sofia, I promise you this. I will get you better," Amber sighed. "I-Mother? What are you doing here?"

"I came to check on Sofia but what's on your mind Amber?" Miranda asked, gently rubbing her back.

"I just want Sofia better. But she's dying and there's nothing I can do!"

"I feel the same way. But your dad, Cedric, and Doctor Landon will figure out what's going on."

"But it'll be too late by then!" Amber stressed, gently shaking Sofia. "Sofia? Come on say something. Sofia!"

"A-A-Amber! I-I was h-h-having a g-good d-dream!" Sofia coughed. "I found a light!"

"What kind of light Sofia?"

"A bright white one."

"Sofia can you hang on a little longer? Please? We need you. I need you1" Amber yelled, trying not to sob.

Sofia didn't answer as Miranda kissed her cheek.
