Luke to Annabeth
Dear Annabeth,
I'm so sorry for doing this.
But can't you see that I had no choice?
Everyday I see demigods resentful that their parents never claimed them.
I hate it you see.
When they first arrive they had so much hope in their eyes.
But then...
Days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months...
I see their hope fade from their eyes.
I hate it so much.
Some of them only wanted to be acknowledged by their parents.
But they never are.
Remember that time when you were younger.
When we came to my house injured and tired.
We left soon after.
Remember that day?
Do you know why?
It was because of my mother.
She had the ability to see through the mist you see.
She thought it was her responsibility to become the next Oracle.
My father tried to stop her but she never listened.
She became mad from the curse placed on the Oracle.
Then I was born.
I remember moments of my childhood where she would suddenly clutch on me.
Her eyes would start glowing green too.
Those time scared me.
I didn't know what to do.
My mother was insane!
Hermes...
He never did anything.
He never came to help us.
I hated him so much.
No, hate was too light a word.
I loathed him.
Loathed him with every fiber of my being.
Surely that isn't the reason I left camp right?
Yeah.
It was when I realised what Zeus did to Thalia.
We were running from the monsters.
Thalia, she stood on the hill trying to protect us both.
The monsters…
There were too many of them.
They overwhelmed her.
Then Zeus turned her into a pinecone tree.
He could have helped her instead.
But he didn't.
That was when I became to detest the gods.
Hades for sending his monsters after Thalia...
Zeus for turning Thalia into a pinecone tree instead of saving her...
The gods for not caring about their children...
The he came.
Kronos he entered my dreams.
Told me about a new age.
A golden age.
One without the gods...
He promised me to free Thalia too!
The age he spoke of was great indeed.
So I turned traitor.
I helped him.
I gathered other demigods to his cause.
You'll be surprised on how easy it was to turn them to Kronos side.
Most of them felt resentment to their parents.
Some of them wanted their parents to be recognised.
But most of them just wanted a better life.
So we left camp.
Joined up with Kronos.
So we fought against each other countless times.
You got hurt, I got hurt.
In the end I came to you begging for help.
Kronos had wanted to use my body.
But you rejected me.
Months later, the war started.
You managed to make me fight harder against Kronos.
For that I thank you.
In the end you understood the prophecy.
You allowed Percy to hand me the knife despite knowing that I was going to kill myself.
You allowed me to kill myself and stop Kronos.
Thank you so much Annabeth...
From Luke.
