Aria Montgomery stirred in her sleep and silently moved closer to the body next to her. It was Ezra's body, or so she thought, and she nuzzled her face into his curly hair.
But it wasn't curly. In fact, the hair was straight and ragged, and almost reached his shoulders. It smelt like it hadn't been washed in several days, with a hint of expensive perfume in it. Aria could recognize this hair anywhere. It was Caleb's hair.
But no, that couldn't be right. There was no way, no way, that Aria was in a bed with Caleb Rivers, her best friends boyfriend. Yet here she was, and she felt sick. The Aria Montgomery she knew would never cheat on anyone, and neither would the Caleb Rivers that she had met. So, there had to a reasonable explanation.
Was it A? No it couldn't be. That would be A going too far. Then what was it? She would never crawl into a bed with Caleb.
She quickly backed away from Caleb, pushing her body off of his. She thought she would land on more bed, but she didn't. A hard floor had greeted her.
"Hanna?" Caleb's sleepy voice greeted her from what was actually a couch.
Aria quickly sat up. "Yeah?" she asked. As soon as she spoke, her hands flew to her mouth. Was that Hanna's voice that had escaped her?
Caleb slowly stretched, yawned, and jumped off the couch, landing sitting down next to Aria.
"Good morning, babe," he whispered in her ear, completely unaware that he was talking to a completely shocked Aria Montgomery.
"Good morning," she replied after a few seconds, scared that if she didn't speak, Caleb would realize that something was wrong. Which it was, but he didn't have to know that.
While she and Caleb sat in silence, she looked down, making sure that she was in clothes. She was. That was a good thing, at least.
But, as she looked down, Aria also realized that she had changed skin tone, she was much lighter, Hanna's color. She felt her face, her hair, her arms, and she realized that she, in fact, looked like Hanna. She was officially completely terrified.
"What would you like for breakfast?" Caleb asked just before Aria jumped up in shock. "I can make pancakes, eggs, whatever you like."
Aria jumped up in shock. She didn't want breakfast with Caleb, she wanted to go home. "I, uh," she looked around the room she was in, trying to recognize it, but she couldn't. "I actually can't do breakfast. I have to meet up with the girls."
"Already? Yesterday you said that you had to meet them at three, not fist thing in the morning."
"I guess I forgot. Spencer want to get us all to study for the math test we have next class. You know," she forced a chuckle, "this is Spencer we are talking about."
"Okay, okay," Caleb gushed. He stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Rein check?"
"Absolutely."
"Great," he mumbled as he leaned into Aria, and he pressed his lips to hers. She didn't respond, she couldn't, and he quickly noticed that something was wrong. "What's wrong?" he asked quietly.
"Nothing, nothing," she mumbled. "I was just wondering if," she searched her head with ideas, "you had my clothes anywhere?"
Caleb laughed. "Right, because we wouldn't want Hanna Marin walking around Rosewood in a pair of sweats and her boyfriends old tee-shirt."
"Yeah!"
Caleb turned around and turned to his closet, removing a pair of her clothes. "Here."
"Thank you," she mumbled, then stormed away to the bathroom to change. She didn't know if Hanna changed in front of Caleb or not, but she didn't care.
Once she changed, she stormed out of the bathroom. Caleb was waiting, sitting on the couch they had fallen asleep on, probably watching TV or something.
"Your purse, my lady," he joked, treating her like a princess.
"Why thank you, my prince," she joked along, giggling. She grabbed the purse from Caleb and gave him a quick peck, hoping that would make him not lean in for a make out session.
"We're still up for tonight, right?" he asked. "Seven."
"Of course," Aria mumbled. "Right here?"
"Yeah, right here."
"Great." She slashed to the door of the tiny loft.
"And Hanna?" Caleb called just as Aria's hand touched the door knob. She spun around. "I love you."
"I love you too," Aria said and quickly left the loft.
As Aria rushed to the parking lot, she wondered about what had just happened. So, she was Hanna, okay, that made sense. But then where was Hanna? Was she with Ezra? Or were there two Aria's running around, one dressed as Hanna and one with Ezra? Or, was she actually Hanna who just had just had a crazy dream about being her best friend?
Her head swarmed with ideas, she unlocked Hanna's car and quickly spun away. At first, she didn't know where she was, but she saw the Brew in the distance, and immediately knew exactly where she was. She didn't know where to go, but after a few minutes, she decided that she would go to Ezra's. Hanna would (hopefully) be there, and she would be able to talk to her.
She quickly parked in Ezra's apartment parking lot, stormed up the stairs, and rummaged through her purse trying to find her keys. But after a while she realized that she had Hanna's purse, and it would not be a good idea for Hanna to storm into Ezra's apartment. So, she knocked the door, quietly, praying that Hanna would be the one to answer.
At first, no one answered. But, just as she placed her hand on the wooden door once again to knock, the door flew open. It revealed an Aria on the other side, whose smile quickly faded.
The Aria in Ezra's apartment quickly jumped out of the apartment, and pulled Aria into the hall.
"Aria?" she asked.
"Hanna?" Aria asked.
Hanna pulled Aria in the tightest hug ever.
"Oh Hanna, what are we going to do?" Aria quietly asked.
And for the fist time ever, neither had a clue.
