Hey guys, here's chapter 2 of Lincoln Bell.
"This. Is. Hopeless!" Lori tossed a book across the room into another stack of books. "I've checked every foreign language dictionary and still can't decode this red book" She said, looking at Lincoln's red book. "I've stayed up all night and all I can figure out so far is part where the color changes to red. The first spell: Zaker"
[Flashback]
"Take this, the book's first spell…" Lori said, the red book now glowing. "This better work. Please come out, lightning" she pleaded mentally as the words in red ink glowed. "Zaker!" Lori shouted.
It was then that Lincoln's eyes vanished and glowed white. Just as before, a powerful bolt of lightning shot from Lincoln's mouth.
"What?!" Eido looked on surprise.
He would've been hit by the spell, were it not for the wind boy picking him up and saving him at the last second. The lightning instead hit the roof door, causing it to explode, leaving nothing but the now visible stairway.
"Wow. That was seriously cool…" Lori said with amazement, a loss for words. Lincoln's eyes then turned back to normal.
"What's going on here, Lori? Lightning sure strikes a lot around this place" Lincoln said.
"What?" Lori looked at Lincoln in disbelief.
[End of Flashback]
"The kid launched a powerful electric shock and he didn't even realize that he's the one that did it…" Lori thought, looking at Lincoln who was a sleep on a blowup mattress. She got up and walked over to him, smiling at the boy's sleeping form. "I guess he is kind of cute when he's sleeping" she thought.
Lincoln then rolled over and fell out of bed.
"GAAHHH!" Lori screamed in pain, Lincoln's head having landed on her barefoot.
"Keep quiet, Lori" Lincoln told her, now awake, Lori hopping up and down as she held her foot. "I was dreaming of delicious food. Why'd you have to go and wake me up?" he asked with a yawn.
"Next time don't use my foot as a pillow" Lori told him.
A Freezing Spell
"It's over 9000!" One of the characters on tv said as they crushed the item in their hand with relative ease.
"Wow, this is actually pretty cool!" Lincoln said as he watched the show on tv in the living room. That's when Lori walked in.
"Lincoln can't be a normal kid. Unless normal kids have horns on their heads…" Lori thought as she looked at the white-haired boy. That's when she noticed something "That beating he took happened just yesterday, and yet he's already recovered from his injuries. What kind of a creature is he?" she asked herself in her head. "And who were those two guys that had the power to control the wind? They had a book that looked exactly like Lincoln's book. It's all so mysterious. Good thing I like mysteries"
Lincoln attempted to lift the tv… only to fall over with the tv on top of him. Lori groaned and walked away.
"Lincoln, what are you doing?" Rita asked, entering the living room.
"I wanted to see how the men that were fighting got inside this funny little box… but it's much heavier than I thought" Lincoln said, looking at the ground.
"Heh. Well, don't try it anymore, you might hurt yourself" Rita told him with a light chuckle.
"Anyway, Lori, let's continue or plan from yesterday" Lincoln said to the blonde young woman as he entered the hall.
"I thought I told you we're done with all that?!" Lori yelled.
"We've still got a lot to do. Your father asked me to help you make new friends at school and that's exactly what I'm going to do" Lincoln said. "If this is what it'll take for you to make friends then you'll just have to stand up to bullies everyday"
"Buzz off, you're nothing but trouble for me, you little twerp. I'm embarrassed to be seen with you anyway" Lori turned her head in a scoff.
"That's a little harsh" Lincoln said. "Well, embarrassed or not, I'm sticking to you like glue, so don't even try to—"
Lincoln was cut off by the sound of the front door closing, signaling that Lori had just left.
"Hey, wait up!" he called as he ran out to catch up with her.
"Wow today seems like a nice day" Lincoln commented as he and Lori walked beside each other. "Flowers are blooming and the river's full of fish popsicles. Just like in my dream"
Lori stopped at that and turned to see that the river was indeed frozen with fish inside.
"Fish popsicles?!" Lori looked on in disbelief. "What's going on? Why is there ice in the river when it's spring time? I've heard of global warming, but not global freezing" she said in her head.
At the sound of a car skidding, she turned her head to see a man and a kid standing on the edge of a bridge, a pillar of ice coming out from under it that stopped the vehicle in its tracks. The car attempted to back up but was stopped by another pillar of ice blocking it from behind. The man then jumped in front of the car. That's when Lori noticed something.
"That blue book, it looks just like this red one" Lori thought, looking at the red book in her hand.
"Out of my way, I'm taking this car" the man said as he flung the driver over the bride. Luckily for him he wasn't impaled by an of the ice pillars. The kid then walked over to the car as well.
"And another kid that looks like Lincoln. Maybe the ice was his doing…" Lori thought.
"Let's go, Reycom" the man told the kid.
"You got it, Hosokawa" the kid said as he got into the car, shattering the ice pillar in front of them as they drove off.
Royal Woods High…
"Hey, Kane has a bandage on his head" one of the kids said as Kane walked passed them, his head wrapped in bandages.
"Look, there's Lori. Some kids say she was on the rooftop and got into a fight with Kane" a second kid said, noticing Lori, Lincoln not far behind her.
"Get real. Can you see that genius with no friends getting into a fight with somebody like Kane?" the first kid asked rhetorically. "She's smart, but she doesn't have the courage to fight somebody like that" he added.
"I guess you're right" the other kid said in agreement.
"You guys are wrong. Lori's no coward" Lincoln spoke up.
"Who are you?" the second kid asked.
"I'm Lori's friend. My name is Lincoln Bell and yesterday Lori beat the crap out of that thickheaded bully Kane and creamed the other two bullies on top of that. Do you two want to be next?" Lincoln asked, looking at the two.
It was then that Kane shoved the two kids aside and lifted Lincoln up by the collar of cloak.
"Get real, kid. How could that pipsqueak Lori get rid of those two guys when I couldn't?" Kane asked, glaring at the white-heard boy.
"Because Lori's amazing, that's how" Lincoln began. "You passed out and missed the whole thing. But Clyde was watching, so go ask him!" he told him.
"Oh, great…" Lori muttered before turning around, walking in the opposite direction.
"Lori, why don't you stand up to him?" Lincoln looked over his shoulder at her.
"It's because she knows you're making up stupid little lies!" Kane kneed Lincoln in the face, causing the boy to tumble down the stairs.
"Lori?" Lincoln saw Lori walking out the door.
The town…
"Lori, why didn't you stand up to that big bully back there?" Lincoln asked, walking behind Lori. "I don't understand, you fought so bravely yesterday. I guess we'll have to work on your confidence. I mean, you didn't even argue with him when he called you names. How can you take that? Don't you get angry when he talks to you that way?" he asked, standing in front of her.
"I stopped letting what people say hurt me a long time ago. I don't care anymore, let them say what they want…" Lori replied, walking past him.
Reporter: Breaking news has just come in. A burglar at the Royal Woods bank has taken hostages. We've just received images from the bank's security camera.
"Hey Lori, look, Clyde has his own show on the strange little box. And he looks a lot taller" Lincoln commented.
"Clyde's on tv?" Lori walked up the glass window. "Oh, no! How many times in two days does that boy have to get himself into trouble?" Lori asked herself, seeing Clyde as one of the hostages on tv. It was then that he saw a familiar face. "It's that guy! He was holding that blue book today on the bridge"
"Lori, we have to go save him" Lincoln spoke up.
"What if he uses that ice power on us? What if I can't make the lightning spell work again?" Lori asked in her head, clenching a fist.
"What's the matter, Lori? Clyde's the only person at school that even talks to you. We have to help her" Lincoln said.
"I know, but…"
Reporter: The feed from the security camera has just been cut off. We believe it was destroyed by a laser gun.
"We have to go, Clyde could be in real trouble" Lincoln said.
"Maybe I can control Lincoln's red book…" Lori thought. "No, it's too dangerous. That electric shock is too powerful. If I make one mistake I could cause even more trouble"
"Lori, what's taking you so long? Let's go!" Lincoln said.
"Forget it, this is too dangerous for us to handle on our own. We have to leave these things up to the police" Lori replied, walking away.
"Are you seriously running away? What part of the plan is that?" Lincoln asked.
"Zip it!" Lori told him, looking at her reflection in the mirror. "But he's right. I can't let Clyde get hurt just because I'm afraid of screwing things up…" Lori thought, he heart beating fast and her eyes shrunk.
Reporter: Another shot has been heard at the bank. A policeman has been fired at.
"You hear that? What if something happens to Clyde?" Lincoln asked, a serious look in his eyes.
"Oh, man, as long as I keep running away and making excuses, I'll never make my dad proud. The truth is… I'm just scared" Lori thought, clenching her fists and teeth.
"You've got to do something, Lori" Lincoln told her.
When she turned to face him, she a serious expression upon Lincoln's face, his fists clenched, and his teeth gritted as his cloak flapped behind him and a red aura emanating from his body.
"Lincoln, I want to change, I really do. But it's not that easy for me!" Lori replied in her head, turning her head with her eyes closed.
"Let's go, Lori!" Lincoln shouted. "Don't think anymore. Just once, act before you think" he told her.
Lori stared at Lincoln. That look in his eyes, that determination. His stare alone was enough for Lori to smirk and chuckle. With a newly determined yell she charged.
A few moments later she was riding a bike down the street, Lincoln riding on the pegs behind her.
"That's it, Lori, keep going!" Lincoln said as they rode.
"Thanks, Lincoln. You're still a pain in my ass, but I guess needed a kick in the pants anyway" Lori said.
The Bank…
A few moments later they turned at a nearby corner.
"There it is, Lincoln, were close, that's the bank!" Lori told him, the building now in sight. The only problem was that cops with giant shields were barricading the entrance.
"How are we supposed to get in with those men blocking us?" Lincoln asked.
"I'll use the old bait and switch. I'll throw Lincoln through the second story window and while the policemen are distracted with him, I'll sneak into the bank" Lori thought, going over the plan in her head. "Just follow my lead and hope that this plan works, Lincoln"
"Ok, I trust you, Lori" Lincoln said with a nod. Lori then grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.
"Let's hope you can recover from these injuries like you did yesterday" Lori raised the boy into the air. "Go, Lincoln!" she tossed him hard, sending him flying, catching the cops' attention.
However, she got distracted and hit the police car which sent her flying as well, screaming as she and Lincoln flew through the second story window. The duo then landed behind the service desk.
"Hold it! Whoever you are, come on out" Hosokawa said, pointing the gun in their direction.
"Alright, that didn't go as planned" Lori whispered to herself.
"Who are you, the police? Come out already!" Hosokawa said in a demanding voice.
"Now what do we do? At least the robber thinks we're the police, that should give me some time to think" Lori thought. She then poked her head out enough to get a glimpse of what was going. "Alright, Lincoln, here's the plan…"
"Hm?" Lincoln turned to her.
"I'll distract them while you sneak behind and move the hostages" Lori told him.
"Got it" Lincoln nodded. The white-haired boy then crawled under the service desk and past the robber. Lori then notice a piece of rope in front of her, causing her to smirk.
"Come out, this is your last warning. And if you turn out to be the police, I'm going to shoot everyone, including you" Hosokawa told her.
"Please don't shoot, I'm a high school student!" Lori said, coming out with her hands up. "I'm not armed, but just so you know, there's one more person that came with us. He's hiding right over there" she turned her head.
"What?" Hosokawa looked at the chair on the right. It looked like it was jiggling, when really it was Lori making it move using the rope around her leg. "Another hero wannabe afraid to show his face, huh? Come out or I'll blast you right through the desk" Hosokawa moving towards the empty chair.
Meanwhile, Lincoln had moved the hostages to the other side of the room.
"Alright, he moved away from the hostages. This is our big chance. If I can get Lincoln to release the electric shock now, I can get rid of the crook without hurting anyone else…" Lori thought. Lincoln then sneaked over to Lori's side.
"What now?" he whispered.
"Now, I want you to stare straight at the robber" Lori whispered back. Lincoln turned his head to the robber while Lori pulled out the red book.
"She's got one of those spell books like me" Hosokawa looked on in surprise.
"Let's do it. Zaker!" Lori shouted the name of the spell. However, unlike the previous times, nothing had happened. "The lightning didn't come out. But I casted the spell just like I did yesterday" She thought before slamming her hand on to the desk. "Damn! I'm going to try one more time. Zaker!" she shouted. Again, nothing happened.
"Uh, how long do I have to keep staring at this guy?" Lincoln asked as the robber pointed his gun at his chest.
"Why isn't the lightning coming out?!" Lori thought. She then heard a chuckle, causing her to turn to the blue-haired kid.
"I was wondering what kind of attack you were going to try when I saw you taking out that book. I must say thought that I'm very disappointed in your abilities" Reycom said as he walked up to Hosokawa.
"Not me" Hosokawa spoke up. "You're a brave kid, I'll give you that much. But you don't know how to use that book yet, so it's a waste to let you keep it" he said as Lori closed the book. "You don't have enough time to learn how to defeat me, so why don't just hand it over to me like a good little girl and go on your mary-way, huh kid?" he suggested. "Or I could just take the book after I blow you to pieces!"
"No" Lori said firmly.
"No matter what happens, Lori, don't give them that book" Lincoln told her. "If anybody's going to get blown to pieces around her, it's these jokers"
"Suit yourself" Hosokawa pulled his book from the right side of his suit.
"No, Lincoln, get out of the way!" Lori said to the white-haired boy.
"Why? Shouldn't they be the ones to run away?" Lincoln asked.
"Say goodbye, kid" Hosokawa said as his book began to glow. "Take this. Gikor!" he cast a spell, an icy wind blasting from Reycom's mouth, freezing Lincoln solid.
"Lincoln is frozen…" Lori said, her eyes wide. "Lincoln are you ok?" she asked.
"There's no point talking to him, he can't hear you in there. By now he's lost consciousness" Hosokawa told him. Lori then tossed a chair in a futile attempt to break the ice.
"Get real. That's not the kind of ice a human can break on his own" Reycom told her.
"Now I really won't be able to launch zaker anymore…" Lori thought with worry.
"It's up to you. If you decide to leave him this way, his heart's gonna freeze" Reycom said.
"If you don't want that to happen, give me the book then I'll defrost the kid and he can join up with me. Otherwise, he stays on ice" Hosokawa said.
"I literally don't know what to do…" Lori thought before being reminded of Lincoln's words. She couldn't let these guys get the book. "Now I know what to do. Thanks to Lincoln I know that I can change" Lori spoke to herself. "You'll never get this book!" he told the bad guys.
"Oh, I think you'll change your mind… if I hurt these hostages!" he pointed the gun at the people, more specifically Clyde. "I'm warning you, this is your last chance. Believe me, this is no idle threat because right now I'm not afraid of anyone, INCLUDING THE POLICE! And thanks to this book, I hold all the power!" he shouted.
"Aw, crap…" Clyde said with a look of fear.
"Stop, just stop it! I don't want Clyde to get hurt, I'll give you the book" Lori said in defeat. That's when the red book began to glow. "The book is glowing…" she took notice of what was happening.
"YAH!" Lincoln shouted, shattering the ice with a flex of his arms.
"That's it, say goodbye to all these hostages" Hosokawa pointed his gun at Clyde.
"Save them, Lincoln. Save Clyde…" Lori thought with seriousness in her eyes. She placed her hands on the book, which made it glow even brighter and opened it. "Zaker!" she shouted, casting the spell.
In that moment, Lincoln lost consciousness as lightning shot from his mouth. The bad guys screamed as they were blasted by the electric shock. This had caused the circuits in the wires of the building to cut and an explosion to go off, allowing the police to come through.
"Lincoln?" Lori blinked. It was then that consciousness returned to Lincoln.
"Whoa. I don't know what you did, but it sure as hell worked" Lincoln turned to face her.
"You don't know what I did? You mean you don't remember anything again?" Lori asked with a puzzled expression.
"Well, I remember hearing your voice, but I'm not sure you were talking to me" he replied.
"Does this book let Lincoln hear my thoughts, too?" Lori asked in her head as she looked at the book.
"I heard you tell me to save them, but when I came to, the bad guys were already blown away. You were really upset, I've never heard such emotion" Lincoln said.
"Emotion? Does this book respond to my emotions?" Lori asked mentally. "I get now. The electric shock doesn't come out unless… I read it with strong feeling!"
"Hey, thanks for saving us, Lori" Clyde spoke up as he approached the blonde girl.
"But I didn't do anything" Lori replied.
"What're you talking about? You saved the day by short circuiting the wires with that electric blast and you blew the robbers away" Clyde said.
The people in the bank clapped and cheered, one person even taking Lori's picture.
"Why do I get the feeling we're forgetting something important?" Lori asked, raising an eyebrow.
"The robber?" Lincoln spoke up. There was a short pause.
"Damn it!" Lori slammed her fist on the counter in annoyance.
Reporter: The robbery at Royal Woods bank is over. Thanks to the brave act of a high school student. All the hostages were safely rescued. However, the suspects are still at large.
"We'll get those two back for this!" Reycom said as he and Hosokawa drove off.
"Why are all these mamodo suddenly appearing in town?" the blonde girl from the other day asked as she and the demon-looking teen drove in her limo.
"Because Lincoln Bell's power send a signal to them all and summons them from the mamodo world" the teen told her. "After all this time the battle for king has finally begun"
The Loud House…
"Look, Lori and I are inside the box" Lincoln said as everyone watched the news on tv.
"Wow, Lori, you look so grown up all of a sudden. You even look different from this morning" Rita commented.
"Well, maybe I changed a little bit…" Lori smirked.
"Yeah, with a bit of my help" Lincoln chimed in.
"Lincoln, you're absolutely beaming an it seems like you've grown up a little since this morning, too" Rita told him.
"If that's true then maybe I can lift the tv" Lincoln said. He then grabbed the tv by its sides, easily lifting it over his head. "Look, I can even do it one-handed!" he said, switching to just one hand. Rita giggled.
"Wow, Lincoln, maybe you can carry the groceries in for me a little later. Heh heh, kids" Rita joked as she walked off.
"Huh, look at that. Lincoln has changed a lot more than I have" Lori thought as she watched Lincoln put the tv back into its original position. She then turned her attention to the book, which began to glow. "I wonder if he gets stronger by using this book…" she thought as she opened the book, the glow fading. What she saw made her eyes widen in surprise. "This writing has changed to red. I can read it, I can read another page. Ra… shield. Rashield. The second spell: Rashield" Lori read the spell in her head. "I think Lincoln has just gained a new power!"
And there's the second chapter. I changed some stuff around from the original episode, so expect that whenever I do an episode from the anime.
I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting this many positive reviews for this story… or any reviews at all, for that matter. I guess there are other fans of Zatch Bell out there besides me after all!
If you have an idea for a mamodo OC, say it in a review. Here are the requirements: Mamodo's name, human partner's name (must be an oc as well), their alignment (good or evil), their powers and when and how they get their book burned. Oh, and throw in the list of their spells and what they do because I do not feel like coming up with a ton of spells for one mamodo.
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you all next time.
