Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Thinking about the Future

Mitchie was so exited about going on tour with Shane, Jason, and Nate. She had been packing her things for a few hours, asking Shane about everything. "Shane is this shirt cute enough, or should I get rid of it?" she asked about every shirt. "For the millionth time, yes, it is cute. But it doesn't matter because everything looks cute on you." He flirted. Mitchie gave him a mischievous smile and kept packing. Then her phone rang. "Hello?" she asked.

"Hey Mitchie it's Caitlyn!"

"Hey Caitlyn what's up?" After all these years, Caitlyn and Mitchie were still best friends. "Guess what I'm doing this summer?!" Caitlyn asked excitedly.

"What?"
"Nate is taking me on the summer tour with him!"

"OH MY GOSH! Shane invited me too!"

"OH MY GOD!"

Both girls screamed together when they realized that they would not just be on tour with their boyfriends, but with each other.

Meanwhile, Shane was thinking about Mitchie and their relationship. I love her so much… I want to spend the rest of my life with her… but what if she's not ready… what if I'm not ready… he thought. I love her and that's all that really matters. I don't care if people think we're too young… 20 and 21 is a perfect age… Then he decided. Now to ask her parents. Oh gosh. He thought.

"Shane? Can you hear me?" Mitchie asked her boyfriend while waving her hand in front of his face. He snapped out of thought and looked at her. "Oh… sorry." He said. "What are you thinking about?" she asked sitting next to him. He grinned to himself. "Oh… something special." He exclaimed. "SO how is Caitlyn?" Shane asked changing the subject. "Oh she's really happy we are all gonna get to hang out. It's gonna be so much fun!" Mitchie replied. Shane agreed and gave her the same look he gave her when he first sang her 'I've gotta find you'. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked in the same tone she had done 4 years ago. "I dunno. I just love you." Shane replied. Mitchie hugged him and returned the 'I love you'. So the next day, when Mitchie had her last classes, Shane went over to Mr. and Mrs. Torres' house.

He knocked on the front door. When it opened it revealed Connie Torres. "Hello Shane! Mitchie told me about the summer tour!" she said cheerfully. "Yeah… but that's not why I came… I wanted to ask you and Mr. Torres something." He said hesitantly. Connie just smiled and let him in. All three of them were sitting in the living room.

"So, you came here to ask us something?" Mr. Torres asked. Shane kind of half smiled and said, "Yeah… I came here to ask you if I could marry your daughter." He said quickly. Connie smiled from ear to ear and so did Mr. Torres. "Oh Shane! I've been waiting for you to ask that! Of course!" Connie said with a laughing happiness in her voice. Shane also smiled that superstar smile of his. He got up and hugged Mr. and Mrs. Torres. Now it was time to ask Mitchie. "So when are you gonna ask her?" Mr. Torres asked.

"Oh… well I dunno… I just had to ask you first." Shane replied. Both the Torres' laughed.

Later that day Shane walked back into Mitchie's dorm room. She was sitting at her desk doing the last of her school work. Once Shane walked in she jumped from her chair and threw her arms around his neck. She kissed him passionately. Once they broke apart, Shane asked, "What was that for?" Mitchie laughed and replied, "Well I am just about done with the last of my work, and now I have all summer for just you. So I am pretty happy!" Shane laughed at her and she joined in. "Okay well you should finish your work so that you can finish packing." Shane requested. Mitchie followed orders and finished her work. Soon it was 7:30 at night and she just finished packing. It took all night to get everything in the limo. But soon enough, they were in the backseat and driving off towards Mitchie's house to drop off her stuff.

"You're amazing." Mitchie said softly.

"And why do you say that?"

"Why is that?"

"No girl ever gets to go on tour with their boyfriend. And plus, you're helping me get away from collage."

"Ha ha." Shane laughed. I might be more amazing after I ask you to marry me. Shane thought. Once the limo stopped at Mitchie's house, they both started unloading her things into her house. Connie was extremely happy to see her. But then she pulled Shane aside. "Did you ask her yet?" she said in an undertone. Shane shook his head, "I've gotta wait for the right moment." He replied.

Once everything was in its place, Shane and Mitchie left for the New Haven airport. Nate, Jason and Caitlyn were waiting by the gate with their luggage. Once they got there, everyone hugged one another and caught up with each other while they were waiting to board the plane. Then after 10 minutes, "Flight 66 boarding now at station 17." A woman said over the speakers. Everyone looked at their tickets, Flight 66, it read. Connect 3, Mitchie, and Caitlyn got their luggage and boarded the plane. Luckily, they all got seated next to each other. This was the kind of plane that had five seats in the center and 3 seats on each side. On the left, was Shane, then Mitchie, Caitlyn, Nate, and then Jason. "It's going to be a six hour flight so bundle up!" said the flight attendant.

"Wow. A six hour flight?" Nate asked.

"I guess so…" said Shane. He put his arm around Mitchie. They both smiled at each other.

A few hours later Mitchie was asleep on Shane's shoulder. He looked down at her and grinned. I'm really lucky… he thought. He kissed her head and fell asleep too.

Then, his eyes snapped open. I know when I'm gonna ask her. He thought.
