Beep. Beep. Beep.
"Hey, Mai! what made you call? It's almost 8 shouldnt you be working in the office?"
Takigawa Housho (bou-san) had definitely answered her calls really fast. Maybe because he knew that Mai only calls on special occasions like getting lost and getting hurt.
"Are you with any of the SPR irregulars now? Naru let me off early."
She smiled sadly. She should atleast see them before anything else. It'll be hard. Living a new life without them starting a new chapter and etcetera. She will definitely miss them.
"Yea! Im with them! We are celebrating Masako's new program! You should come here!"
"I'll be there in 5 minutes, Bou-san."

The celebration was modest, as expected from Hara Masako. Everyone was making merry as they joked and laughed at stupid things while she just sat there. Smiling. Trying to memorize every detail about each and everyone of them.
She will miss Ayako's temper (and purse)
She will miss Bou-san's Hugs
She will miss John's Encouragements.
She will miss Yasuhara's Jokes and pranks.
She will miss Masako's snide remarks.
She will miss Lin's cold and silent treatment.
She will miss Naru.
She will definitely miss him.
"Hey, Mai. are you okay? You've been spacing out lately after the last case." John patted her back lightly to get her attention, She looked at John and smiled.
"Im okay, John. Just tired." She said. Everyone was now looking at her.
"You had a fight with Naru?" Ayako asked. With the mention of his name her heart started thumping really fast. Her eyes almost getting frosty.
"No." was her only answer. She doesn't want to be selfish. this was supposed to be a happy occassion. She just wants to see them for the last time.
"Hm.I dont trust you Mai-san. As much as I want to believe you. Your tear stained eyes beg to differ." Yasuhara pushed his glasses
"It makes me sad to see you like this, Mai." Masako sighed as she reached the tea infront of her offering it to Mai which she gladly accepted.
"Tell us about it, Mai." Takigawa held her hand and looked at her eyes.
'I'm gonna do it.'
"I was fired."
She said. lowly as if whispering. She knew it shocked them as they all stopped what they were doing and gawked at her. Followed by inaudible shouts and noises coming from them.
"why?!" Takigawa forcefully stood up banging the tablewares and making a commotion.
"No. there must be a mistake, We all know how important you are to Shibuya-san." John was trying to calm her down
"I should definitely slap that boy!" Ayako followed Bou-san's gesture
"This is out of my calculations. I was shookt." Yasuhara whispered.
Mai just smiled and asked them to calm down so she can explain herself.
"No. I was fired because I did something wrong to Naru, which i want to be kept as a secret and another thing is because it was that it was also a good condition for my personal decision. I want to pursue life. A career and maybe a different environment?" Mai said. She smiled as if she's happy.
the group was silent. They looked at her intently as if trying to figure out if she was lying or not.
"are you sure about this?" Ayako looked at her and she nodded firmly.
"How are you going to start?" Masako asked she was definitely worried for Mai.
"I was able to save up while working and my mom and dad left something for me. I can use it for starting."
"please dont forget us, Mai-san! We will always be gere whenever you need us." john said.
"ofcourse I wont." Mai said cheerfully
"We will all stay up late tonight so Mai will not forget us!"
They all cheered as they all enveloped Mai in a very heart warming group hug and that was the first time that day; she laughed her heart out sincerely and it made her think, maybe some farewells are not as bad as she thinks.
