Chapter 2: CPUgaloo

Disclaimer: I'll just put it like this, I do not, and never will own either of these series.

"So, the seven of you were traveling together, and then there was a bright flash of light after which you found yourselves here in the Emerald forest?" Headmaster Ozpin asked the group of girls sitting in his office. After Glynda had reported her findings to him, the rest of the students had been ordered to return to the school.

However, teams RWBY and JNPR had some extra members with them on their return. Ozpin wasn't quite sure yet, but his intuition told him that these strangers might be able to shed some light on the recent 'mysterious incident'.

"Yeah, pretty much we all crashed in that freaky forest or whatever and then we got mobbed by those weird boneheads." The purple haired girl responded easily.

He noted that while the rest of the group didn't seem to consider her their leader, like miss Rose or mister Arc were seen by their respective teams, they expected her to take the initiative in this conversation.

She seemed to easily diffuse the suspicious mood in the room with her casual attitude.

"I see. You mentioned that you have no idea where you are right now, correct?"

"Yes, that's right." the blonde woman in green answered

"It is unfortunate, but none of us have ever heard of a city called Vale, nor of this 'Beacon academy' we currently find ourselves in." The rather 'gifted' woman spoke with the calm and professional tone of someone used to talking about important matters.

"What are you talking about?! Beacon academy is the single most famous school for hunters and huntresses on Remnant, and even if we believe you don't know that, it is absolutely impossible for you to not know the name of one of the four Kingdoms." Weiss interjected, her suspicion growing larger by the second.

"Miss Schnee, it would be appreciated if you kept silent while the headmaster is in conversation with our guests." Glynda's sharp glare silenced the heiress instantly.

she quickly moved back to her team, who were standing together with team JNPR, who still didn't get a speaking role.

"Her rather blunt way of addressing the subject aside, I too would like to know how you can claim to possess no knowledge of the kingdom of Vale. It is one of the four kingdoms of Remnant after all, it would be rather improbable for none of you to have even heard of it."

His question done, he returned to observing the group in front of him, looking for anything that might give him some insight to their truthfulness and motives.

He tried to take note of their personalities as well, it would help him find the most likely method of gaining some answers out of this situation.

"As my companions have said before, Mr. Ozpin, we have no idea where this place is, I've never even heard of a place known as Remnant existing in Gamindustri."

The black-haired girl speaks up this time, he noticed that her personality and manners were remarkably similar to that of Miss. Schnee, a well-raised daughter of a high-class family, perhaps?

That line of thought was put aside for a more intriguing part of her sentence however.

"I believe it is now my turn to be confused, I consider myself a very well-informed man, but I have not once heard of a place called Gamindustri." He replied

The small brown-haired girl in white spoke up next, she had been silently evaluating the other inhabitants of the room until now, but seemed to know instinctively that the others expected her to speak up.

"Instead of continuing to press each other for information that seems to right over each other's heads, why don't we introduce each other first and tell our sides of the story?"

"That might be a better solution than what we have now. As a show of trustworthiness, I shall start with my side of things."

"My name is Ozpin. I am the headmaster of this academy, which teaches young, aspiring men and women to become hunters and huntresses. Next to me is my assistant, Glynda goodwitch.

To the side are two of my schools most promising teams: team RWBY, and team JNPR."

The two groups gave a small nod (Blake and Ren), a little awkward wave (Ruby, Jaune and Pyrrha), had a huge grin (Yang and Nora), or just stared at them with suspicion (Weiss).

"Earlier today, my surveillance network picked up a large flash of light over the forest in which we found your group. After the light subsided, several smaller fragments shot off into the sky while a larger mass crashed into the forest. This impact destroyed several of my camera's as well as riling up the local population of Grimm."

"Yeah, uh, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I got a question." The red-haired girl in the strange torn suit spoke up.

She had been silent and had been busy in keeping the small child in their group calmed along with the tired looking lilac-haired girl.

"So, these Grimm things. Are they those weird monsters we fought outside, or are those something else?"

"Even stranger... very well, I shall explain. The creatures of Grimm are a plague that terrorize humanity, we do not know where they come from or why they attack, but they are seemingly endless and drawn to negative emotions."

The group before him looked confused, but seemed to understand his explanation, he made to continue his story of the current events.

"As I was saying before, the mysterious object that crashed into the forest had made these creatures restless, so I mobilized the faculty to investigate the area with the students."

"Wait, wait, hold up. Wasn't it some kind of Atlas prototype drone that crashed into the forest? I mean that's what we were told right?" Ruby couldn't hold her curiosity, despite the glares from Weiss and Blake for interrupting the headmaster.

"I see no reason to keep you in the dark now that you are already this involved. The story of the crashed Atlas drone was no more than a swiftly made cover to keep the student from panicking until we managed to gather more information on the situation."

"Oh yeah, I guess that makes sense, so do we know what actually happened?"

"Yes, let me get to that part of the story, if I may?" Ozpin's tone was calm and friendly despite the intrusion.

The leader of team RWBY moved back to her team, having used up all of her confidence to ask her questions to the headmaster.

"Continuing from where we left off, after about half an hour of searching, I was contacted by Glynda. She had discovered an unknown item at the estimated crash site."

"Soon after that you were brought to Beacon by teams RWBY and JNPR, and soon afterwards you were sent to my office to be questioned about the circumstances that led you to be on sealed off, private property."

"If it's not too much to ask, may we see the 'mysterious object' that was found? We might be able to recognize it, and it may give us a clue about our current predicament." Vert spoke up once more, interested in the object that apparently appeared along with them.

"Very well, it might clear up more questions on our side as well, so I see no harm in showing you." He pulled a shining purple gem from a pouch in his desk drawer, he had planned to ask Oobleck if he knew anything about it, but this may be his best chance to learn about the strange gem. The faint power he felt from it made him curious.

He instantly noticed their eyes widening once they saw the small gem, the power symbol swirling in its core was unmistakable. None of them managed to react faster than the small child in the back though.

"That's my present for Neptuna! Where did you get it!?" The child stormed over to his desk and made to grab it, but was restrained by her friends just in time.

"So, you recognize this gem?" He asked. This was good, the child's outburst meant denying anything was impossible, he might get some answers so he could start planning around any possible situations that would arise from the strange object and the mysterious power it held.

"Listen up, this is very serious, so I want you to answer honestly. You said that many fragments of light blasted all over this land, correct!?" Noire held a serious look on her face, a faint trace of panic was visible in her eyes, this was mirrored by all of her companions, with the exception of the child, who was still struggling in the grasp of her friends, who tried to calm her down.

"Yes, many such fragments split off from the initial blast of light. However, with only a single exception, all of them remained within the boundaries of this kingdom."

He spoke earnestly, he could read the serious mood in the air, and if there was a danger associated with these gems, it was in his best interest to cooperate with the only people who seemed to know about them.

"I see" Vert decided to return the man's trust. "That gem is what's known as a 'CPU Memory' it is a very powerful object that must be kept away from anyone who would unknowingly use it."

"They pose a very real threat if left scattered then, but I would like to ask what is so dangerous about them."

Ozpin had turned completely serious now, already planning to send Qrow out to search for these items as soon as possible.

Blanc took over the conversation at this point "A CPU Memory is a rare item that holds the power to create a new CPU if it is ingested by a female. The power of a CPU makes it dangerous enough, but if an unworthy person uses it, they will turn into a hideous creature, there is a cure for that, but only one person knows it and no one knows how to get in contact with him."

"That does sound like a cause for alarm, but I have to ask, what is a 'CPU' exactly?" Ozpin was a man with people everywhere, but he had never heard of such a term.

"CPU stands for Console Patron Unit, essentially they are Goddesses that guide humans by providing them with a safe haven and divine protection from monsters that lurk in the wild, while these Goddesses are normally born naturally from the people's Faith, these are a method for humans to artificially become such beings"

Blanc's explanation left out a few unimportant details but it got the message over clearly.

"A Goddess, you say? That would indeed be disastrous for something like that to fall in anyone's hands."

"Your damn right it is, it's not too dangerous at first, since a goddess's power comes from shares, or Faith in other words. But if a new goddess is born, it would be all too easy for her to gather faith from the people here. If you really have no CPU's here, any newborn Goddess could just take over and be worshipped by keeping those Grimm beasts from attacking the towns under her protection."

"If they truly are capable of halting the Grimm, it would be an invaluable power for the people of Remnant."

Ozpin was thinking harder than ever before, a being that could render a city completely safe. It would be a dream come true for everyone. Even with huntsmen and women, they could only stem the tide, not destroy it. Even the most well-protected cities were not completely safe, it would take only one opening for fear to spread amongst the people, followed by an endless wave of Grimm attracted to those emotions. This could be a new hope for humanity.

"Yeah, I mean, if you really don't have a goddess in any of your kingdoms, then I'm impressed you guys are still standing. I mean it's like someone set this match to endless waves or something." Neptune needed to desperately have another speaking role this chapter, her Main Character status demanded it.

"True, if what you told us is real, it would make a lot of people out there feel safer. But first, we need to find all those CPU memories before someone who really shouldn't gets their hands on one." Noire brought everyone back on topic.

"If I may have your attention, everyone." Ozpin spoke up, the other people in the room quieted down.

Except for team JNPR, they still didn't get a speaking role, so they couldn't get any quieter.

"I believe I have a solution that would benefit us all." Ozpin stood up and looked at the group before him. "How would you like to attend this academy for the time being?"

Confused looks were given to him in response. Uzume answered, having calmed Peashy with Plutia's help. "Err, that's nice and all. But how exactly will that help?"

"Simple, as students of beacon, you are allowed to travel the kingdoms in order to further your studies. In short, it would let me send you out towards places where these CPU memories are estimated to have landed. You will be able to travel more freely, and it would be much easier to coordinate our efforts if we were to work together."

"Awesome! But first, tell me. Do we get color coded school uniforms like in Blanc's spinoff or no?" Neptune's priorities came shining through once more.

"I'm not quite sure what you mean, but our standard school uniform is only in a single color I'm afraid."

"Aww, man. Oh well, I guess you are the best option we have for now." Neptune got her groove back swiftly.

"Ooookay, so we still have to find six more, since we already have one back. Plutia chimed in happily.

"A total of seven then, five of which are still missing in this kingdom, and one more which headed in the direction of Atlas. I will contact General Ironwood as soon as possible, but now that we settled that, there is one more thing."

"Go ahead, ask us anything." Noire confidently took the reins of the conversation back in hand.

Ozpin sat back down in his chair and pulled up some new student files to fill in. "with all of this panic I've neglected to ask, who are all of you, actually?"

"Oh well that's simple." Neptune answered faster than anyone else. "My name is Neptune, and I'm the CPU of a nation called Planeptune."

Meanwhile, in the kingdom of atlas

General Ironwood looked over at the purple crystal currently floating in a glass tube. He turned towards the scientist he had called here earlier. "Sir, we do not know exactly where this crystal came from, but our readings are off the charts! It's like this thing just generates energy without ever stopping!"

Ironwood looked over the reports he was just handed by the excited man of science and made his decision.

"Very well, you have my permission to use this object to further our progress on penny."

AN: well then, i guess that works. Sorry if some characters are a bit OOC, as a side-note, i don't plan to involve ANY romance in this.
I'll try to keep the subtext from the original intact, but i'm not confident enough to develop it any further. English isn't my main language, so if you see anything that could be changed for the better, please let me know.

Edit: changed a few things here too, i hope it's better then before.
