34. Stars
Watching the stars used to be our favorite thing to do. Ever since we were little, we would spend hours on the roof of my house and gaze up at the sky. We'd point out shapes the stars make and wish on shooting stars. We used to wish about staying young forever and never losing each other.
Now I wish for that one day you will love me the same way I do. 10 years have gone by now, and I sit alone on my roof, clinging to the past. Of course, Kairi and I were still close friends, but not like how we used to be.
She was always to busy to hang out. Friends, school, work, or whatever she had to do got in the way of hanging out. Not having her next to me felt weird. Like I was missing a piece of me.
Gazing up at the dark night sky, I watched a shooting star race across then disappearing in an instance. I shut my eyes and thought for a minute, "I wish… things would go back to the way they used to be." I admitted.
"Me too." I heard a voice come from behind me. Turning around, I saw the one person I missed most.
"Kairi." My heart raced as a huge grin appeared on my face. She came and sat next to me, and gazed up at the sky. We fell into a comfortable silence, looking up at the sky.
"I miss this." I admitted, breaking the silence. She smiled.
"I do too. This is probably my favorite childhood memory." She said.
"Why?" I asked.
She grabbed my hand. "Because I got to be with you."
