Chapter 2: The Past
Matt, Simon, Eric, Martin, and Ruthie are all remembering back to a specific memory that changed the course of their lives.
Matt's Flashback: Five years ago
Sarah was sitting there holding our families picture.
Matt: What are you thinking Sarah?
Sarah: I want our children to know there grandparents.
Matt: They do know there grandparents.
Sarah: I'm talking about actually seeing them on a day-to-day bases, not just when we see them at Christmas.
Matt: What do you want to do? Move back!!
Sarah: Yeah, I do!
Matt: Well, let's do it!
Simon's flashback: 3 years ago
He and sandy are at a bridge in Glen Oak Park.
Sandy: it is a beautiful night out here
Simon: Yeah it is
Simon getting in front of sandy and taking a knee.
Sandy: What are you doing?
Getting the ring box out of his pocket.
Simon: This, will you become my wife and Mrs. Simon Camden?
Sandy: You know it.
Martin's Flashback: 2 years ago
He is knocking at an apartment door. She opens the door.
Ruthie: What are you doing here?
Martin: To tell you that I love you with all my heart and I can't live another day without you.
Ruthie; don't do that!!
Martin: all I'm doing is telling you the truth Ruthie.
Ruthie: Well, you're about a decade to late Martin; I have moved on, I am happy here
Martin bends down and kisses her passionately; one thing leads to another and Ruthie gets caught up in the moment
They wake up the next morning in each other's arms. Ruthie hating herself for what she did. He wakes up.
Martin: Hey babe
Ruthie: Don't call me that and get out
Martin: What?
Ruthie: You heard me GET OUT!!!
Eric Flashback: 4 years ago
Eric and Annie are just waking up one morning.
Eric: I think its time that I retire and let Lucy step up.
Annie: What?
Eric: It's just that I'm not young anymore and I think it is time for me to just take a rest.
Annie: Are you sure?
Eric: Yes I am sure
Ruthie flashback: 9 years ago
After two years of watching Martin play with his child Ruthie could not take anymore.
Ruthie: Dad, there something I need to talk to you about.
Eric: Shoot
Ruthie: I need to get out of this town and make something out of myself
Eric: What do you mean?
Ruthie: I mean I have not been myself since I found out that Martin was going to be a father and I just can't sit around here and mope.
I need to get out and move on.
Eric: I'm sorry Ruthie but that isn't going to happen
Ruthie: You're not going to help me?
Eric: I will but I'm not going to allow you to runaway from your problems
Ruthie: I'm not going to be running away.
Eric: Look Ruthie we will get you a psychiatrist
Ruthie: I do NOT need a shrink I need to get out, I feel like I'm losing myself here.
Eric: It stands you are not leaving.
Ruthie: Fine I will find another way, and by the way I thought out of everybody you would help me in the way I wanted to be help. I will never come back once I get out, because I don't want to see you ever again.
Eric: Ruthie come back here
Ruthie just keeps walking away
