Chapter 2

FAVOR

I used to not mind the drive to school. Kikyo and I would sing a long to whatever was playing on the radio. Sessh, even with his amazing wear wolf ears, somehow put up for it. He didn't seem to mind us teenage girls screaming "I came in like a wrecking ball". As if reading my mind, the radio turned on. Some Taylor Swift song came on.

"No off key singing this year Ms. Knight? I appreciated what he was trying to do, but I didn't see the fun in it anymore.

"Your ears get a break this year. Just you wait till she breaks up with her next man though. I think you'll ears will be more sorry than he will be"

Before I knew it, I was starting to smile.

"Speaking of the T swift, word on the street was that she was dating a Shadowed" that perked me up.

"I'm sorry, I was unaware that body guards were up to date on celebrity gossip!"

I could see his golden eyes in the rear view mirror give a slight roll."Well, I do work for a teenage girl. I try to speak her language." My eyebrow raised in confusion and amusement.

"When have I ever been the one to keep up with any kind of gossip or be in the know?" Sessh took a deep breath, his strong shoulders falling a bit as he did. I could tell something was on his mind.

"Ms. Knight, if I may. Where do you stand on those roomers."

Once again I was confused. Why would he care what I thought about some celebrities romances? Maybe I was thinking too much of it. He is probably just making small talk.

"I don't think much of it. She dates who she dates. Seems to have worked for her career though" his eyes shot at me through the rear view mirror.

"Do you not think twice about her possibly have being involved with a shadowed?" His voice was suddenly so serious. Maybe he wasn't just interested in pointless conversation. This was clearly something he actually was interested in. I tried to think carefully about my answer. As a noble, I had to have the mentality that humans should not be with the shadowed. I was brought up to believe that. Even if I never fully did, I never knew what I said could make its way back to my parents or the council. Was he testing me? No. That's not who he is.

"I don't care if she is dating a shadowed. She's not a noble, or anything of stature besides a common celebrity. So it's not illegal for her to be with a shadowed. I think it's kind of cool that she might not be a purist. We live under this idea that every species if equal, but everyone knows that's not completely true. Despite humans being the only ones without any supernatural power, we are still the social high archly. We control almost everything."

Wow. I have never told anyone how I actually felt about that before. It all just seemed to come spilling out of me. Looking out the window, I noticed the school was in sight. Who knew the drive would actually go by fairly fast. I noticed Sessh started driving a little slower.

"Ms. Knight" his eyes once again flashed me a serious look. My heart started racing with anticipation. He's never been like this. "If that is how you truly feel, I must ask a favor of you"

He was full of surprises today. "Uh yeah, sure Sessh. Name it." Pulling up to the school, he parked the car. He took a deep breath before saying what he had to say.

"I need you to look after my younger brother. Life hasn't always been kind to him. I've finally managed to get him into this school thanks to your family's generosity. I just worry that, due to his naturally wild behavior, he might be a target of purist bullies."

I could not believe it. My mouth hung open. Mind racing. Not only did Sessh, my basic father figure ask me for a favor, but he had a brother the whole time?

"I'll do my best, but I'm not the most popular myself. That was always kikyo"

He wasn't hesitating anymore with his responses.

"True, but your kindness has always come from a more genuine place. You are also a noble. If you were stand for him when needed, it could make things a little easier for you."

Once again I was completely flabbergasted. "Ok. What's his name?"

Sessh turned around flashing me a smile. One of the few he's ever done. His fangs were in full view for the 1st time ever. Looking at me with that happy face full of relief he told me his brothers name.

"Inuyasha"
