The events of this year made way for seventy-four more years of the Hunger Games. The Capitol, 12th January

5 Months 13 Days Until First Reaping

President Balis leaned back in his black, leather chair, click his tongue. I stood in front of the mahogany desk, shifting my weight awkwardly, running my hand through my green hair. Hair dye was not a new thing but the vibrancy uneased Balis, clearly.

"So how will the Games be televised?" He asked me, the appointed Game maker. Even though my job role was still not completely clear.

I cleared my throat and straightened my back. "Everything will be live up until the first day, then we will have a day of recaps. The next day will show the Tributes first day in the Arena-"

"Why they twenty-four hours delay?" Balis groaned.

"W-Well, it gives us time to edit out rebellious acts, we can't be too careful with these Games. These people are fresh out of a war."

Balis gave a knowing nod, sitting up right and facing me. "Understood. Very good. Have you found a presenter?"

I smiled. "Yes, sir. Minerva Kane-"

"The news reporter?" Balis laughed. "This is a serious matter-"

"We understand, Sir. However, Minerva is the most qualified for the job. She knows the industry, she can sway and grab an audience and she knows how to tiptoe around sensitive matters-"

"That is her writer-"

"With all do and respect, Sir, everything will be scripted for her, we just need a voice and someone who can think of her feet."

Balis though for a moment, spinning a pen around his slender fingers. "Fine, it will work for the first year. Let her know she has been promoted if you will." I gave a quick nod. As I went to exit the room, Balis was reminded of something. "Oh, what is your name again?"

"Eboniser Brixton, Sir," I said with caution.

"Very well, Brixton," Balis grumbled, waving his hand in dismissal. "Back to work."
