Chapter 1
I watched my group as they laughed and chatted and my mind was at rest. I knew that they would sleep with full stomachs tonight and we would not have to scrounge for much food tomorrow, which meant I could teach Gabry how to hunt. I had a few weapons and I was fully trained to use them. Gabry probably could not handle a knife. I decided to first show him how to walk silently in the forest and track animals like rabbits and mice. I would carry two knives as usual, hidden in my boots while my bow and quiver of arrows hung near my waist.
The next morning, I woke up early. The sun hadn't even come up yet. I took Gabry outside, and gave him a sharp rock covered in a piece of leather. It was for his protection. Luckily, Gabry was a fast learner. If only he weren't so innocent, I could leave him alone and the entire gang could scrounge for food. I showed Gabry how to use the rock-pound their head and then thrust the sharp end anywhere to make them bleed and then run the hell out of there. Finally, at dawn, he could protect himself well enough. We proceeded to run towards the forest.
