Chapter 2

~Another Pov~

I watch as the great piece of land rises up toward the sky. I rest myself against a rock. My eyelids grow heavy and they shut. I feel everything just turn off.

My name is Link. I was named Link because my grandmother had dreamt some kind of prophecy that a chosen hero would appear by the name of Link would come and save the land from darkness. My mother believed that, so I was named Link. My father had died 8 years after I was born. My mom had to find a new man to become the man of the house. That was the law. No maiden could raise a child on her own because apparently she wasn't smart enough and needed the intelligence of a man to help her and provide for her and the children. He was a cruel man from what I remember. He wasn't the brightest either. We would often go days without food because he was an incompetent hunter. Despite how cruel and foolish he was, he was the cause of something I was forever grateful for. My younger brother, Ayri. When Ayri was born, mother died. When mother died, that horrible man abandoned us. I didn't care though. Ayri and I got along just fine. I took care of him for 6 years and then I was chosen by Hylia to be her Hero. I was 16 at the time. Ayri was only 6. Then, two years later, I dreamt darkness was approaching to covet the sacred treasure of the gods. I tried to warn people, but they claimed I was mad and locked me away. I was worried for Ayri. He was only 8 then. I was afraid he'd die without me there to protect him. Then, four years later, I was set free because the man who had me locked up died and darkness was approaching. They needed their hero then. I have to admit, I was tempted not to help them, they only had need of me when Darkness finally showed up like I said it would have. They could have just listened. However, these were the people I was chosen to protect. I was chosen by Her Grace Hylia. I took a sword in hand and was ready to fight for the land of Hylia. Ayri was well. He got by on his own. He learned how to gain food and warmth for himself through the years because of what he learned from me. He was there when I was freed. A twelve year old boy, but stood strong and tall. I was so happy to have him in my arms again. Then, there was the fight. The fight was great and long. We were aided by Hylia. She gave me a weapon, a sword with great strength on its own. With it, I destroyed many creatures of the dark and kept the land safe with my fellow warriors. Ayri was only 12, but he was among them as well. Then the day came where I had need of the crimson Loftwing that Hylia had ridden so she could give her chosen hero the blade of evil's bane. The crimson Loftwing watched as the battles went and deemed me worthy to ride him. I took on the Demon Kind, but I wasn't strong enough. Those years in prison wore me down. I wasn't as strong as I once was and I fell. At the very least, the people of the land of Hylia were safe. Ayri, my little brother, was safe. I didn't want to die after living only 22 years, but it was my time to pass on. I could pass on with no remorse. Everyone was safe until the day Hylia would need me again. Hopefully with a stronger being than mine. It was a great possibility she would need my spirit to fulfill her plan of peace. Me and the rest of those chosen by gods would be bound to this fate for eternity.

Everything feels so light… I feel so warm… I hear someone speaking, but I can't quite make out what they're saying… I start to open my eyes and I'm met with candlelight and sky blue eyes looking right at me. There's two boys sitting in front of me. One of them look like Ayri…

"H-Hey." It can't be Ayri… I saw him ascend to the sky… "Um… Fledge, go get professor Horwell and tell him he's woken up." The boy I'm assuming to be Fledge ran out, leaving me and the blue eyed boy alone. No mistake, those are my brother's eyes. My brother had my mom's carefree eyes. "Are you in any pain?" The boy asked. I shook my head. I couldn't move it much. Everything was rather fuzzy. "Alright." He smiled. "My name's Link." Link? So he must be… I tried to say something, but no sound comes free. "Don't push yourself, alright? If you don't rest, you'll never get better. That's what Zelda would always say. She's my friend and filled with much wisdom. You'll like her, I'm sure." Out of the corner of my eye, I see a moment of daylight and a woman walks in. The boy who I now know as Link turns his head and looks. "Speak of the demon lord, there she is. Hey, Zelda." This is Zelda? She… she looks just like Her Grace…

"Hi Link. How's the- oh he's awake." She walks over. There is no mistake with her either. She looks exactly like the Great Goddess Hylia… "It's great to see you're awake, that means we got you here just in time. I'm Zelda. Link and I will take good care of you, so don't worry." She sounds just like her too. How is this possible?

"Hylia…" I said it without even thinking… Her name is Zelda, not Hylia. It is not Hylia. Hylia was a Goddess, not a mortal maiden… I can't stop looking at her… Link says something, but I wasn't paying attention. A new voice brings me back to my senses. I can't recall what was just said, but Link speaks saying,

"He's tried speaking, but he can't get the strength to say anything." There are three new people within the walls of wherever it is that I now reside. That one boy from before who was known as Fledge, a tall but skinny young man with long brown hair and his eyes were closed so much, I couldn't tell if he could actually see anything. Then there was a tall and a rather um… well, he had a pretty large stomach and his eyebrows didn't seem too far behind. He reminded me of an owl. I spent much of my focus on seeing the details of these people than I didn't hear what the long brown haired one said. The owl looking man stepped up to the front of the bed where I lay.

"Well, child, you're in safe hands. Once you gain more strength, I highly encourage you to tell us what you can." I nodded.

"Father," Zelda started, "Should we take him to Skyloft sometime."

"Maybe once he gains more strength." I'm tired of laying down, so I try to sit up. I try to anyway, but my stomach hurts too much.

"Hey, don't push yourself." I look Link in the eyes for a second. I get a vision of those same sky blue eyes staring at me and telling me to relax and stay put.

"Fine." I lay back down. I hear the door flap open and a boy dressed in a yellow tunic runs in.

"Link, come quickly, there's a ton of bokoblins that showed up out of nowhere."

"What?!" Link jumped up out of his seat so suddenly. "Lead the way." Both those boys run out.

"Bokoblins?" The owl man asked.

"They are large red creatures who generally carry large knives. They were led by a demon named Ghirahim. He was the one who knocked me to the surface. Though, Link said Ghirahim disappeared after he fought Demise." Demise… I start to get up again.

"Hey, you shouldn't be getting up." Zelda said.

"I'm fine." I get up on my feet, but I couldn't quite stand, so I fell back.

"You are not. You must rest." I shook my head and stood up.

"You should rest, young man. You aren't well enough."

"To hell I'm not." I start to walk, stumbling a little bit, trying to get used to my feet again. "I've gotta help."

"You don't have to worry about Link. He's the Goddess's Chosen Hero. He'll be alright."

"Listen, that boy who went out there to protect this land could get really hurt. I sense it. Something's not right. Let me go out there and help."

"You'll get hurt worse though." Zelda said. She seemed so worried for me.

"We could always give him some of Luv's potions. We don't have many in stock right now, but it'd give him more strength and keep the wound from bleeding."

"Anything that'd allow me to aid the Chosen hero."

"Alright." The long brown haired one went over to a wooden box and grabbed a bottle. It was filled with red liquid. "This is the potion I was telling you about. Drink it and it'll supply you strength and heals your wounds faster." He handed it to me and I looked it over. "I will warn you though, it tastes quite terrible." I take off the cork on the bottle and take a sip. I try to keep from gagging on it. "I did warn you." I take a deep breath and drink down more. There was some shuffling behind me. I turn around and the long brown haired man had my tunic and my cape. "This is your tunic. We had to take it off so we could treat your wound. We have some spare chainmail you can use until yours can get repaired by Gondo."

"Thank you."

"No thanks necessary, child. Take care of yourself. May the Goddess watch over you." I nodded and put the chainmail and my tunic back on. I didn't want to waste any time fiddling with my red cape so I left it behind. I was supplied with a sword and I ran off to find the Goddess's chosen Hero, my successor. The land has barely changed, I find my way around easily through the forest until I come to a clearing.

"Ok, Ghirahim, why are you acting so jovial at the moment?" I hear the young boy say. I spot him surrounded by what looks like a wall of diamonds. That one boy in the yellow tunic from earlier is trying to get to him and fighting off demonic creatures at the same time.

"Oh Link, I've been nothing but jovial."

"Yeah right!"

"I have. Just think back on it. You'll remember how jovial I have been all through our times together back four years ago." I sneak over to the wall to get a closer look as to what's happening and maybe find a way to get inside.

"No thoughts come to mind really."

"Alright then. I've just realized something so grand that I wanted to share with you." So far I'm not spotting any way in.

"And what's that?"

"Essence. The essence of my master dwells within you. When I found that out, I was overjoyed. I couldn't be happier. So now, I've come to do what I can to draw that essence out. Even if that means brutally torturing you. I'd do that anyway, but at least I'd have more reason for it."

"Now that's the Ghirahim I know. You want the essence, just try and take it. I've beaten you several times." There is a rock that looks high enough to allow me to get over the diamond wall. I run over to it and start climbing over it.

"And if you jumped off a cliff and landed in water several times safely does that mean that the next time you jump you are guaranteed survival? You'd be surprised at what may change the next time you jump. So jump, Sky Child, see if you make it safely into the water once again."
